Cumberland has intangibles that most of our players dont have. Alot of players struggle with cold streaks but his positives outweigh the negstive. Also for those believing williams will be better or is better look at cumberlands contribution as a freshman last year compared to williams so far.
I agree Cumberland played well last year. He is not playing to that same level this year. He is still a better option then Williams at this point but as pointed out I like Williams potential down the road. Oh and Cumberland intangibles a e not evident this year in more minutes.his game is trending down.

We'll see, however I don't think williams will be able to overtake him. Also, does anyone believe no one has tried to fix williams shot form before? Its not going to be easy to change muscle memory that drastically.

Cumberland seems a little out of it to me...not a lot of spirit etc. Does he bond with the rest of his teammates? I have nothing on which to base this other than watching during warmups etc. just seems kind of listless at times. Never know what’s going on in a young person’s personal life...maybe just a touch of sophomore slump

Cane played off the ball at sacred heart quite a bit. He is someone who can score at all levels rather it be from the PG or Wing. Cumberland is on pace to have twice as many TO's as last year. He is playing more minutes and his game is trending down. If we don't fix that we are in trouble.

You aren’t wrong about Cumberland but a lineup with him on the bench with cane at the 2 means we become weaker at 2 positions.

I’ll take any form of Cumberland over 30 minutes of Jenifer all day every day.

And cane played some sg as a freshman cause they had a sr pg, but he was strictly a pg as a sophomore because that’s his real position. I’m sure he had far too much talent to keep him on the bench as a freshman so he played wherever to get minutes.

Have know idea about his personal life but from a basketball perspective he is starting and getting good minutes.

Your assuming Cane would be less effective then Cumberland on the wing. I do not share your belief. Your assumption that he is a natural PG is faulty as well. He is most effective as a scorer not a facilitator. His numbers at both schools will tell you that. Also Canses To's are trending down but Cumberland's are rising. I won't even mention FT's.

The argument wouldn't be is cumberland better than broome its that he is much better than jennifer. So why would you leave jj on the floor? How was cumberlands ft last game? Didn't see it

He has never spent an offseason as a D1 player. I'd assume our staff and players' work ethics trump anything he's experienced before. Whether the form ever gets fixed or not, I dunno. I just know with 3 years left it'll be worth a try bc it can't get any worse.

Jake this probably won't be real popular either but the player who I am most disappointed in is Cumberland. He is seeing the court more and to this point I really haven't seen a increase in effectiveness. Actually in the last few weeks he has regressed. Many posting here had him as a candidate to be our leading scorer.

Cumberland would get the lowest grade on the team from me for sure.

I remember thinking it was odd that in the preseason Bearcat TV feature videos, Cumberland wasn't in any of them. It does feel like something is up with him.

Coach doesn't think so. And we are led to believe he knows more than we do.

But seriously he does seem like a low key guy most of the time

because with both Cane and Cumberland on the floor we are Increasing are occurrences of TO's by a bunch. So it would be Cumberland or Cane. Someone has to facilitate the offense and take care of the ball. I understand everyone wants to have scoring options at every position but you also need to get good shots and take care of the ball. Right now Cumberland is not playing up to last years results with more minutes. I'm not saying we shouldn't continue to let him find his game but he does need to show some results.

You're also increasing your chance of points by a bunch, neither pg facilitates our half court offense. The ball is passed around the permiter or ball screens. Jj and cane would put us at a defensive disadvantage from a size perspective

He could probably play overseas somewhere. At this point I don't see NBA. Maybe next year
The knock on SK when people were assessing NBA chances was his lack of athletism. Cumberland will not be a NBA player unless his athletism improves dramatically. If I was him I would be focusing on my degree. He has a better chance helping his mom by obtaining a good education then playing professional basketball in my opinion.

I think you're exaggerating the to issue between those two players. They are both much better than jj and bring more to the court.
Your confusing individual talent with how a team is most efficient operating. If you do not have a guy who takes care of the ball and distributes it to the other players in positions that accent their strengths your not going to be very good as a team. What you end up with a bunch of guys going one on one turning the ball over giving you a occasional wow play.

I think we would be worse overall because we’d have trouble defending and rebounding with Jenifer and cane together.

And it’s not an assumption he’s a natural point guard, I’ve watched him play. Anybody that says he isn’t a natural facilitator hasn’t been paying attention I don’t think. There is nothing about his game that says he can’t facilitate an offense.

His 27.7 assistrate is good and it continues to grow. 27.7 would be the 5th best individual season of any pg of the cronin era. Vaughn’s sophomore year, cashs sophomore and jr, and coupons jr years would be the only ones better.
