OOC Individual Player Grades

Your confusing individual talent with how a team is most efficient operating. If you do not have a guy who takes care of the ball and distributes it to the other players in positions that accent their strengths your not going to be very good as a team. What you end up with a bunch of guys going one on one turning the ball over giving you a occasional wow play.

His to rate is 1.9 per 100 plays. Jennifer is .8. However he avg about 11ppg to Jennifer's 6. You could make the same argument with evans who is avg 2.2 to per 100. However he is shooting a much higher percentage but that's only translating into 13 ppg.

Turnovers for the month of December in 6 games

Jenifer 6

Broome 9

Half a turnover a game is a massive increase? Broomes turnovers are trending down, jenifers are trending up.

Broome is the better assist guy too

I think we would be worse overall because we’d have trouble defending and rebounding with Jenifer and cane together.

And it’s not an assumption he’s a natural point guard, I’ve watched him play. Anybody that says he isn’t a natural facilitator hasn’t been paying attention I don’t think. There is nothing about his game that says he can’t facilitate an offense.

His 27.7 assistrate is good and it continues to grow. 27.7 would be the 5th best individual season of any pg of the cronin era. Vaughn’s sophomore year, cashs sophomore and jr, and coupons jr years would be the only ones better.
i think Cane is improving. Early on he wasn't taking care of the ball. To his credit and the Coach his game is trending up. Probably because of the way Mick is using him. He is not a natural PG he is a natural scorer who is turning into a nice PG. Cumberland's game is on the decline accross the board. Allowing Cane to work freely off the ball and be a second Ball handler on the floor with his turn over margin declining only makes us better. If Cumberland continues to TO the ball at this rate he will more then double the amount he did last year. A pace he is on right now.

putting your worse ball handlers on the floor does not equate to a better offense.

We’ll just have to agree to disagree on almost everything here.

we aren’t going to convince each other of anything so we can call it a draw at this point.

You're also increasing your chance of points by a bunch, neither pg facilitates our half court offense. The ball is passed around the permiter or ball screens. Jj and cane would put us at a defensive disadvantage from a size perspective
What are you talking about? This may be our best offense in recent years. our defense is very good to this point with either getting minutes.if you want to say Cumberland has more potential as a scorer the JJ I'll agree. Where we disagree is if that is all he does and turns the ball over like he has been with his total game on the decline we are not better with him on the floor.

I'm not on here trying to win a debate. I'm a fan. Who has know D_1 coaching experience. Your more the entitled. to your view.

Well that coach has only really played cane and Jenifer together in 2 blow out games against horrible opponents. So he doesn’t seem to think it’s much of an option either.

Keith Williams form is not perfect but I think it is as good if not better than Washington's/ Scott's/ Jenifer's and yes Cumberland's set shot and three of the four named can and have gotten hot at times because they have arc on their shot- Scott will never make shots with that arc, just like Shaq Thomas couldn't. I don't know how many people have seen video on Logan Johnson but he has one the weirdest releases I have ever seen but at least it has arc.

Just looked up Keith's stats on Maxpreps- he shot 51%on 2 pt. attempts- 35% on 3pt. attempts and 76%on free throws for the season his senior year.

I'm sorry for pointing out stats that are so uncomfortable for some. It's not like I'm anti-Williams. I hope he's the next Dwayne Wade. I mean, quiet this thread? Smh. Seriously? If he has 15, I'll be cheering as loudly as anyone. But that doesn't mean he has shot the ball well to this point. And I'm pretty sure this entire thread is meant to grade that, along with everything else. If we can't be critical of a guy shooting 12.5% from 3 and 35.7% from FT line, then what's the point of any of this? Why not just give every player an A+ no matter what and call it a day?

Just going through this thread now, but lets be honest. If Keith could shoot, he would not be playing in the AAC just like if Jake had a killer instinct he would not be at UC

Yah...I'm not too worried about a slow start. We have seen players go through those before. Anyone remember last year...lol? Cumberland started off at 17.5% in his first 17 shots (9 games). KJ was 6 of his first 40 last year as a senior (15%).

My point is...he can still turn it around. I think Keith can make 1 out of 3 three pointers once he gets it going.

He plays the third most minutes behind Evans and Clark. Mick must think he is doing something right.

I don't think it's any secret that Cronin likes to get the ball to the low post as often as he can. Evans and Cumberland are better at getting that job done from the wing than Cane will be because of height. Not to mention Cumberland can throw over the top cross court from time to time.

We have two very good post players and we need to take advantage of that if we are going to be using all of our weapons on offense. Cumberland hasn't been playing his best BB but assuming he can get that turned around we need him on the wing and Cane at PG. We all know what Cumberland is capable of.

The inside out game is going to work better with Evans and Cumberland playing on the wing. Passing around the perimeter is not really designed to find open 3's as much as it is trying to find a post guy that we can get it to on either side. The open 3's should come more from the inside out game or a PG penetrating the lane from the top of the key.

Completely agree
