He was playing out of position and lost his confidence. Lawrence will be much better next year given that he puts in the work of a full (healthy) offseason.

Its really a combination of things. Injuries, confidence, adjustment to level of play, and playing out of position. Cronin needs to let Lawrence lose next year and not yank him out of the game every time he makes a mistake.

SMU-Minnesota going down to the wire in the NIT championship game. Seems like SMU went into the NIT with something to prove, and win or lose, there's no arguing SMU is an NCAA tournament caliber team.

Pretty sure Lawrence took himself out of each game by committing a foul every defensive possession.

Can't believe that is Lawrence. Doesn't even remotely look like the same guy.

He looked completely different. I agree it was his confidence, he didn't look comfortable on offense and everything seemed force, that video shows his talent tho. I think he will be bigger stronger and more comfortable playing with these players against this competition. I heard someone compare him to kid with a ton of toys that doesn't know which one to play with. I'm excited for him next year

So where would he have been better suited? Don't say the 4, I'm talking where on the court? What is his position? He got plenty of opportunities to handle the ball and show off his mid-range game and he didn't look comfortable at all. I don't see how the position he played limited his abilities.

I agree he did not look comfortable out there and had plenty of opportunities to show what he's got. But he never was truly comfortable on offense, he'd didn't know when he should attach or pass and his injury didn't help, when he got back he wasn't really looking to score much just trying to fit in. With that said mick has mentioned often that next year he wants lawrence playing where he belongs and that is on the wing attacking, he said we didn't have the size to allow him to play out but we will this year. He will have a much increased role and will be counted on to score which will give him the opportunity to show his stuff

He got the ball inside 15 feet, never further out. It looked like he never knew if he should pass, shoot or dribble. By the time he made up his mind the defender , usually a bigger guy, was all over him and he didnt have any space and didnt have the strength to create space. If he can get some more space further out I think he'll be able to attack without thinking as much

One of the toughest adjustments for young players to make is blending their game to what is best for the team. In High School most of these kids are the main weapon on their team. In College they have to adjust their style by playing without the ball in their hands 90 percent of the time. They even have to learn to pass the ball which at their previous level they didn't give the ball up. JL was a bit behind physically. He'll benefit from a full off season and the experience he gained from playing last year. He has talent. I expect a huge jump from him in production. TC and KJ will also benefit by not having to worry about deferring to SK every time down the court. Remember many comments by Mick almost having to force them to take shots. KJ seemed to embrace that role towards the end of the year and his game trended up when he did. This team will be much better then people think next year.

To me what he did in that video that he didn't do this year is attack the rim, he settled for jump shots a lot of the time. In the video he attacks, one or two dribbles and get a layup or dunk. I want to see him more aggressive on the offensive end and smarter on the defensive end next year.

Danny Manning leaves Tulsa for Wake Forest. Hopefully they don't screw up the replacement...they've got a history of hiring good coaches...

Amazing what happens when there is no defense and you can cut and paste highlights for a video. He tried early in the year to attack some and he wasn't strong enough to go through the defense, nor did the defense step out of his way to let him dunk. I think Lawrence will be fine. He needs to get stronger and learn how to play college ball. His talent and upside is tremendous.

That stinks. Sampson to Houston was good news for the league, now some bad news. Tulsa should be a solid team next year either way.
