Harrell is Eric Hicks if he was 2 inches taller. Just an absolute beast.
I'm not referencing the magic timeout. Just that overall it has become much more soft. I understand that they want to give the offensive player freedom of movement but at some point you have to let the defender play physical and knock the offensive player off their path.
In my opinion the lower scoring in the past years has nothing to do with the rules, it's the quality of the players. They are not staying and developing. The problem starts at a young age when they are given way to much hype and they think they are the second coming of MJ.I've always thought that in basketball the defender has very little recourse in terms of what they can do compared to what the offender can do. However, I am in favor of the freedom of movement rules since scoring has become very difficult over the years. I don't think it will cure the problem entirely but it helps.
Players could benefit from learning to shoot from 15 feet as well.
I wish they'd also consider not resetting the 10 count when the offense calls timeout trying to get the ball over the line to avoid a 10 second violation.
The PC police are out in full force. Thug is an appropriate word for Harrell, he is nothing like JJ. That comparison is ridiculous and I shouldn't have even addressed it. I don't care about race when I use the word thug, I still think Kenny Frease is a thug.

Well saidI agree. Offense takes time to develope whereas defense is mostly effort based in college.
effort is certainly a big part of defense. You are forgetting about rotation, closing on shooters, stopping dribble drive penetration. Pressing and much more. Hardly just effort. Fact is most of these kids have been focused on offense long before they get to college and have to learn to play defense. Kids don't learn to guard until they get to college.I agree. Defense is easier to teach than offense in my opinion. For young guys the offense takes time to sink in and they have not been taught the fundamentals, they just want to be on highlight films.effort is certainly a big part of defense. ...and dumbass is an appropriate word for you.
Enjoy your ban, it is long overdue. Typical know-it-all egghead. Your Ken Pom ratings are off, by the way. If they are always right like you claim, why is Dayton still in the tourney?
BN lots of guys take a career trying to learn to play defense. As I mentioned most of these players haven't spent anytime learning to play defense in high school. Caupain didn't get 30 minutes a game because he didn't play good offense. Shaq didn't sit because he doesn't play offense. Most coaches will tell you if you can't guard you can't play.Defense is easier to teach than offense in my opinion. The offense that these guys played in HS wasn't real offense, it was clear out and let one guy take it to the rim.BN lots of guys take a career trying to learn to play defense. you don't get to college without playing offense. A couple of reasons hand checking was not being called.and players where leaving after one season. If you can move your feet quickly you can learn to play defense. That's easier than learning to handle the ball and master various moves offensive moves.
I get your point that most kids focus on offense growing up, but if that side of the ball was so far ahead than the defensive side, why have the scoring numbers been trending downwards for years?
then it should have been easy to stop shouldn't it?The offense that these guys played in HS wasn't real offense, it was clear out and let one guy take it to the rim.
