Not a pretty win, but a win. Vogt dominated a team he should dominate on the interior, though he left some to be desired in offensive rebounding - partially just because we didn't miss many shots.

We got a lot of time and opportunity for our younger players. Maw flashed some ability at PG. At this point I don't care who plays PG as long as it's not McNeal.

The TO's were bad, Williams was the only starter without 4 of them.

Williams finally rebounded well. With his size and athleticism he should be doing that every night. Zach Harvey racked up 4 assists, one of only 3 players on the team with a positive assist to TO ratio and the only one of those 3 with >1 assist (the other two were Diarra and Davenport).

Speaking of Diarra, he played well when he was in the game.

Hard to be too happy with needing to scrape out an OT win against Valpo. But considering Jarron was out, we got the young players experience and Brannen seems to have realized that McNeal doesn't belong on the court. I'm relatively happy with it.

Harvey will end up our point guard eventually. He has great size and vision. Need to get him minutes

I like Harvey's size and vision. But I don't see him playing PG this year. He is too foul happy on defense, doesn't rebound well and doesn't shoot well. I could definitely see him playing PG (and Maw SG) next year though.

Especially once Jarron comes back, it makes the most sense to have the PG be someone who is a threat to score from three. Maw can hit threes, McNeal and Harvey can't.

Vogt killing it. I know people are worried about him playing against better competition but we play in the American, not the ACC. He should be able to help in a lot of games this year,

Vogt has been the best offensive player on the team this year. 13 and 7 a game on over 70% shooting.

I can't even think about how bad we'd be without him.

Beating up on teams who have no one within 50 pounds of you is a lot easier than playing well against teams with actual bigs. Vogt has showed he can do the former, but so far he hasn't done the latter.

How many actual bigs are in the American? Or in the country? Not many. Also he just play one of the best bigs in the county two weeks ago. He got in foul trouble but held his own. Not sure what you want him to do. No, he’s never going to be an all American but he has been a decent player.

Duke and Kentucky aren’t on our schedule last time I checked. There won’t be many 7’1 guys he has to deal with.

surprise you found the negative. well done sir!

If nothing else this tourney gave kid’s experience, specifically the freshman, all 3 of the freshman had there moments, yes each of them made mistakes, but there’s potential for all of them, I was about to give up on maw, idk where it came from but the last 6 mins of reg into OT he looked like a different player, he’s still got to work on his TO’s though, even diarra I thought had some moments tonight

While I’m personally not sure how good he will be against a good team, the reality is, he looked pretty decent against UC last season in small bursts.

But we need sorolla back because Vogt needs rest

props to MAW for coming in and being aggressive and unflinching. so nice to see a player come in and not be scared. he just went for it.

it was giving me a heart attack to watch MAW and Harvey as the backcourt duo, but they manged to pull it off.

MAWs 10 points were huge.

BGSU shut him down with a 6'11" 240 guy. Pretty much every American team is going to have bigs as good as BGSU's.

Vogt is a skilled offensive player, but a defensive liability (sort of a worse Kyle Washington). A decent player to have on the team, but once he starts facing teams that can match him in size and stop him on O, the defensive and rebounding issues are going to be a problem. Diarra is the complete opposite (skilled at D and rebounding, bad at O), so mixing and matching may work out.

This team has a ton to work on, but the two biggest problems have been careless turnovers and terrible FT shooting. Both fixable (FT shooting to a lesser degree but I think they have a good makeup for it).

I figured there would be major bumps this year with so many new players, new coach, and new system on both offense and defense. Take away your All American and I can't say I'm surprised. Take away Jarron last year they would have been an NIT team.

Not saying I'm happy with performance but I still think it will improve greatly. Brannen is trying to find people he can count on, and usually this early you can't count on new players. MAW looks great, then looks terrible. Same with Harvey and McNeal.

The most disappointing players to me have been the returners. Scott has not been very good (almost a game costing TO at the end), KW stepped up at the end but has not been very good, Jarron has been below average, Diarra can't catch up to the game, and I'm wondering what on earth Mick saw in Moore.

It's a work in progress. Shoot 50% from the FT line and we'd still only have one loss.

He was 10 and 7, on 60% shooting in the blowing green game. How did they shut he down? And no, most teams don’t have players his size. That is just not true

Moore might be the worst recruit we have had in some time. I don’t remember a player not being able to do anything. I wouldn’t be surprised if he left after this year. Tried to play somewhere else for his senior year.

Nice to avoid a potential Q4 loss.

Happy for all the guys who were able to raise their games when the team needed a boost (Tre, Vogt, Keith, MAW).

If Jarron comes back and we can get a team rhythm going again, this trip will hopefully just be a blip on the radar with respect to the rest of the season.
