Lol at cincinnati the last 4 years He lost exactly 1 game like this.

But yea let’s pretend that losing to teams like bowling green is commonplace at cincinnati.

Whatever makes you guys feel better

Defend the Hofstra loss at home. By 10. Would love to hear it

You think Diarra is better at defense and rebounding than Vogt? Wowza.

Diarra is clearly better at rebounding. Diarra leads Vogt by a good margin in rebounds per 40 minutes, defensive rebounds per 40 and DRB and TRB percentage. Vogt leads in offensive rebounding, but that's because Vogt did some major stat padding against A&M and Illinois St: the two worst teams we have faced and two teams with no one close to his size. Against those two teams he had 12 combined offensive rebounds, against everyone else he has 3.

Defensively is harder to measure statistically, but what I see is Diarra is clearly superior (Diarra does have a quite a bit better DRTG than Vogt). Vogt gets shot over regularly and provides no help defense. Multiple times a game the other team scores on a drive and Vogt is leaving the paint because his only focus is his own man. Diarra is much more of a rim protector and shot blocking presence.

Offensively Vogt is superior, but Diarra has plenty of potential on the offensive end.

This is what I’m talking about. It’s the same situation and the coach you think is great is also having the same problems. He lost to Hofstra at home. Hofstra. And just got blown out by BYU. But yeah, it’s just brannen

Just a quick look over that roster out there at ucla in order of minutes played

4-star Tyger Campbell
4-star Jalen Hill
4-star Prince Ali
3-star Chris Smith
4-star Cody Riley
4-star Jules Bernard
4-star David Singleton
4-star Jaime Jaquez

and the system isn't working. i wonder how many fans are already turning their tickets in and calling for boycotts of the coach.

Did he return any of his top 3 scorers ?

Hmm no

Did he recruit a single player on this roster?

No

Brannen returned his top 3 scorers and recruited half the team.

If you think the situations are similar then your out of your mind.

Like I keep asking everyone on this board and everyone refuses to answer:

Who is better in year 2? UCLA with a 5 star PG or UC with a 2 and 3 star class?

I mean, BYU would beat the life outta UC too. They already beat Houston at home.

he's got a crapton of talent is the point. far more than we have here. and he's losing by 10 at home to hofstra.

and ucla was much better set up to win next year than we were and thats even before mick left. mick left us with nothing past this year. he had quit recruiting for us. ive already posted in this thread what our team would look like next year with mick staying. its not pretty at all. at all. we look better off for next year now than we would if mick stayed. and we look bad for next year.

big yikes.

He also recruited half his roster of what ever players were left. And had to do it in 2 months time. That seems like an important detail, But maybe not.

This!

Not to mention all some fans were talking about is how many stars are on the roster. All Cronin needed was better talent and he would be able to work wonders...because now he could both score and defend instead of just defend.

And it's not like Scott and Williams are world beaters. They both averaged under 10ppg last year. They are solid but lets not pretend they can take games over.

Not to mention we are banged up. Several players were hampered during practice leading up to the start of the season. Some of them are playing through injury. We have two guys that can't even play at all right now.

Not sure why e are talking Mick...

He's gone. He left.

This uc team has issues. We need to get healthy. We need more sets. We need to understand basic man to man principles.

New coach, new players, new system, plus injuries...

The team isn’t playing well, but 6 games isn’t enough to go on.

People are lamenting Mick’s departure, but UCLA isn’t fairing much better and they have better talent. You have to give coaches and players a chance to gel and figure it out.

Because it’s fun to argue about and get Justin fired up.

Yeah, this team looks like a mess. The win gives us some breathing room but we still have issues. Not denying that.

Yes...we clearly did not play well in the tourney.

I am an optimist/realist...in that I prefer to think about the positives but understand the reality of the situation too. The reality is we aren't playing well. The optimist in me says CJB is smart and we have been dealing with injuries and installing new offense. The frosh are still adjusting to the speed of D1 and will only learn over time.

I don't like how it's looking right now but we need to see more to make any bold predictions. I am right now a skeptical optimist...LOL!
