- Bench did not show up tonight. If you are going to beat a top team in the country your bench has to score more than 3 points. Parker especially imo.

- Yancy played a good game offensively minus the free throws.

- Justin is one of the best passing big men ive seen. Hurts the team at times though. Second half Cuse completely adjusted and hardly guarded him. Hes got to be willing to attack and finish when given that.

- Everyone claims the defense was poor. It was OK imo. They gave up WAY to many points off the drive and dish.

- Rebounding wasnt bad, although syracuse really isnt a strong rebounding team.

- the crowd was fantastic, even with the dumbasses who are clueless about the game

- I loved how physical gaines was in the limited time he was in. him establishing position in the post was fun to watch.

- Dion 1-6 from three again, had a fantastic dunk

- At the end of the day to many turnovers and easy points given up to win the game

- Mick had a fantastic post game imo.

- The BigO refused to show up, again, for this game...

- UC dance team is beyond good, and no im not joking. I was entertained by their half time show today.

Amazing that we only lost by 7 considering we got 3 bench points and Dixon/Parker were a combined 3-17. There were at least 2 or 3 times where Dion should have made the extra pass to an open shooter late in the shot clock instead of firing up a 3. His shot is just awful right now...

Syracuse is just flat out good, and they are insanely deep, even without Fab Melo.

Them losing to ND was the worst thing that could have possibly happened. Their upperclassmen were just not going to let them lose 2 in a row.

We just have to take care of business against Rutgers, DePaul, and St. John's and go from there. We will be fine though.

IMO- The defense was terrible. They never figured out how to defend the ball screen or box out. The only reason the score was low was because Cuse waited to the 5 min mark of the 2nd half to make a 3 pointer and go 5-15 from the line. Gaines was in for 1 min and was a zero factor in the game, kind of like Dixon, Parker. I wish Mick had a better game than a fantastic post game.

No way this goes on Mick, if thats what you are referring.

I never stated Gaines was a factor, i simply said I enjoy watching him be extremely physical in the post.

The defense wasnt up to UC standards, but wasnt aweful. They forced cuse into some tough shots early in the 2nd. They gave up to many in the paint, period.

I agree LL. Gaines can't be any worse than Cheik. I would like to see more of him. And no I wasn't trying to blame anything on Mick. Just thought he could have had a better game plan. It goes on the team for the loss. Its the little things holding this team back. Also, I know cuse is a transition team but does That mean we sit back the entire game?! We had zero fast break points it seemed and that def hurt.

Agree with most of your post but why do you care if Big O was there? Do you always keep track of him? Was it his kids birthday, wives anniversary, etc? When did it become a requirement for him to attend every game. Especially someone his age.

Didnt get to see the game.

You're saying my boy Gaines finally took off the warm-up?

And I'm not suprised he was down low being physical. Thats what he brings to this team, no one else will do it

Bottom line was Cincinnati plays horrible defense at home. There is absolutely no focus and when the crowd gets the loudest they play their worst. How many times recently has the opponent gotten a back cut or easy driving lay up when the crowd gets loud? Its seems like every time to me.

O should not get his court side seats unless he does actually pay for them. He has never liked Mick and his support of UC has declined since Mick took over.

Ralphy has 62 years on O and he manages to make the games. Give Ralphy O's seats!

gaines can't even rebound. he doesn't box out and he doesn't aggressively pursue the ball. the only reason he got in was because cronin took gates out 90 seconds before the media time out to give him an extended break, and in that time frame, mbodj came in for him and got his 3rd foul. after that, gaines came in to fill the time for gates before the media timeout so he could get a rest.

Mbodj can at least make a layup, which Gaines can't. UC needs to get more out of their big men but I'm not sure who is going to be able to provide that. Their front court next year could be scary, and not scary good.

Justin is going to have to develop into something offensively for UC.

4 guard offenses are one way to beat up the zone (the easiest defense to play against), unfortunately Cincinnati's 4 guard system isn't well equipped. Hopefully with Thomas replacing Dixon and another year for Guyn and Davis it will be better equipped in the future.

Yeah, Syracuse's 2-3 zone is certainly no ordinary 2-3 zone. They have length, length, and more length. When they extended their zone even more after we started 4-5 from 3, it was much harder to score. IMO we are a good, scoring 4 man away from being scary good. I love JJ but man how many times did he catch the ball in a position to score and hesitate and not make a move to score? He made some terrific passes but man he had a LOT of chances to put the ball in the hoop.

Gates played a great game last night. He has been a consistent force over the past weeks.

I love Guyn and his defensive mentality. I believe he will be a shutdown defender in the BEAST sooner than later.

Jackson had some great passes, we just needed to feed him more to get the defense to relax so CASH could shoot some more 3's. He was hot the first 4 minutes until the defense extended.

Dion and Jacquon not making shots killed us last night, that is the difference.

Cheik, I am waiting for him to really show up and contribute.

To me this game came down to the bench play and Syracuse wearing us down. We got nothing from our bench and Dixon picked a bad night to disappear on offense. Our guys looked gassed by the end of the game and Syracuse looked just a fresh as they did when we tipped the ball off. Their 2-3 is tough, and they really don't need to expend a whole lot of energy on the defensive side of the ball.

Mick was spot on in the post game about us not being tough enough to win that game. It was a good effort and we kept it close but we could have won that game. Syracuse didn't have a great night shooting the ball from deep and they were horrible from the FT line. Coulda, woulda, shoulda......just chalk it up to the better team won and move on.

Now comes a stretch of games that we "should win" but that's what scares me about this part of our schedule. We need to win against the bottom tier teams from here on out if we want to make the NCAA's. Anything worse than 7-3 in the remaining 10 games and I'm not feeling too confident about our chances to make the tourney. It's been a nice run for the Cats, I like our confidence and I hope we don't lose it. I hope these guys keep it together for this final stretch run because this team can be dangerous in an NCAA tourney set up.

Guys, it's the number 3 team in the country!! They have so much length and they are well coached.. a very good performance. I saw two big east teams going at it.. I feel like UC can win another eight out of the next ten, then very possible make it to the bigeast championship game. I would think that would give them a four seed and with the right matcups make an elite eight run.. Then, recruiting blows up and we are a household name again.. It just feels good to be relevant again.. Oh, more thing... Whether they are ranked or not, this is a top 25 team... GO CATS!!!!
