Why wouldn’t he be allowed? New rule isn’t in affect yet

I don't know, I don't know what the rule is.

But people have said DeJulius can't transfer for free, so it seems like the same exact situation (and people could be wrong on DeJulius.)

My understanding is every player gets an extra year of eligibility and a free transfer waiver this season because of Covid, regardless of any previous transfers. From an eligibility standpoint, it's like 2020-21 was considered a sit out year for everybody.

One exception, graduating seniors cannot get extra year of eligibility if they switch schools. I.E, Keith couldn't transfer to UckLa to play for Mick in 21/22.

I don't think that's true. The portal is flooded with seniors. Brandon McKissic was one of the big senior transfer targets in the portal. He played 4 years at UMKC and is committed to Florida for next season.

You are correct. Every graduating senior can play immediately, even if they transfer schools. The difference is graduating seniors who switch schools count toward the 13 scholarship max. Graduating seniors who return to the same school do not count toward the 13 max.

Martin has a link to Teddy Allen, who is in the portal. He started at WVU a few years ago then went to Juco after sitting a year at Wichita St and played at Nebraska this year.

Teddy Allen has a fascinating backstory. Really, really tough go of it growing up, wound up at Boys Town. Really a guy you want to see make it.

Also I watched him play a couple of times and he is just a bucket getter. Big, strong kid with a solid jumper and very tough and assertive playing style.

Ok that makes sense. That might not bother us too much, especially this year with Wes being way behind on incoming freshmen.

Reached out to Central Michigan transfer Meikkel Murray

Averaged 15.6 PPG this season.
Best attributes are a 55 true shooting percentage and doesn't foul a lot at 6'6". Not a great rebounder and doesn't shoot threes. 60% of his attempts are at the rim, so more of a slasher. Only a 2.1 block+steal rate, but I'd take him if Wes likes his defense.

Another 6'6" guy. His team played at a crazy high pace - most scores were well in the 100s. So that he means his raw totals (21 pts, 13 reb) are a little inflated, but he has the stamina for a high tempo. Shot 38% from three on 5 attempts per game and 86% at the line, good for a 60% true shooting percentage. He's a balanced scorer.

Sign me up for that stat line.

It’s very encouraging to me a guy like his is a target. 3 point shooting has held his offenses back the last 4 or so years, it’s nice to see he recognizes it and wants to get shooters

Both of these guys fit what I was hoping for. 6'6" and fit the Wes system with above average true shooting percentages.

He’s going straight after what I said we needed, guys on wings with height and length. Maw, Ddj, Mason and Saunders all too small. I don’t know what hell Brannen was thinking. You absolutely can’t have that many small core players

Central Michigan also played a very fast pace, 26th fastest in the country. The pattern for these two players is 6'6" wings that score and run the court.

Murray didn't shoot a ton from midrange over the season, but liked that shot in his last two games when he was 14-25 combined.
