Purdue

I know but I still believe it's the key to the game.

I agree with you Jeff, looking at the stats their D is good but doesn't force TO as much as our does which may help to even out the TO for the game. Another thing is that they seem to give up more steals per game which we know are live ball turnovers while we tend to turn it over in dead ball situations (Ellis and Shaq travelling)

Ever since Ronnie Johnson transferred and some Purdue fan came to this board to talk shit about UC because Ronnie had mentioned us as a possible destination Ive wanted to not only play Purdue...But to beat the living shit out of them.

Hahahaha I remember that. So comical. He legitimately thought their basketball program was light years ahead of UC's. Kept bringing up our awful conference as if that defines us, and Drew Brees, for some reason.

I have a lot of catching up to do on these threads. We have to be better than Purdue. Period. Caupain talked an awful lot about Kentucky in his little press conference. That's terrible news.

Purdue's bigs are BIG but extremely slow. Hammons was so gassed in their game vs Penn State thet he was out after 4 minutes. Haas is robotic in his post moves and while his rebounding is strong (7'2") he will be over Ellis' and Clark's backs. They have one spot up 3 pt starter and play the same half court O that Cincy does. If our bigs run the floor we will beat them down for some easy lay ups.

He could have lied and pretended to care about the first game like any other college athlete, would that have been preferable :D

I watched Troys interview and didn't think he talked excessively about UK. He probably doesn't know much of anything about Purdue. Honestly why would he? He was asked about UK and thought he answered it properly. He said IF we beat Purdue it would be cool to have a chance of beating UK. I bet if someone asked him about Purdue he would actually be able to answer it.

Troy stated that you have to play your best to advance any talk of him over looking Purdue is just wrong. With Kentucky a possible round of 32 matchup it was the sexy story to write about for their own articles. Obviously the question was going to be asked. Nothing Troy said to me was bad, if anything I thought he did a great job

Interesting Purdue starts 6-4 6-4 6-5 6-7 and 7-0 players so they are big in the guards. Also, the 6-5 guard was the BIG10 DPOY so I wonder who he will get put on (Caupain?). If they only keep one of their 7 footers on the floor at a time I love the matchup that Gary is gonna see.

I am amazed at the people who think UC literally has no chance of beating Purdue. I work with a lot of UC grads and fans and almost nobody thinks they will win. Most didn't think they'd make it to the tournament this season and are happy with a bid. Frankly, I think UC has a good chance of winning 1 game.

I heard some quotes, exactly what I was afraid of. I'm sure both teams are looking ahead. I hope Davis has them focused.

I'm with you Jeff, but the analysts are all picking against the Cats. Frustrating how little respect they ever get.

I talk to Purdue fans at work. We look at each other with staid expressions with no rivalry between us as we both acknowledge whoever wins, we both lose.

Yes. Nobody nationally has picked UC. Can't find a single "expert" bracket on cbs or espn that picked them to beat Purdue. Apparently, Glenn Robinson is suiting back up on Thursday.

I always think in matchups like this, when all the "experts" pick against us...I like our chances. Those talking heads are for the birds!!!

Based on what I'm hearing, Purdue is going to be a hell of a test for Kentucky! Losses to North Florida and Gardner-Webb??? Ancient history...

winning tends to alter peoples belief systems... another first round or first weekend loss would just feed into the current perception. Unfortunately this year our 2nd game would be extremely tough..

If we do lose, I think it will be a grinder in the 50s where we just don't score enough points. It'd be disappointing to flame out here and go 0-2 in the postseason after a 5 game winning streak and all the momentum in the world. That'd sure suck a lot of the energy out of the program heading into next year.
