I just don't get it.

We've done the rockfight thing. We know how far we get with that...which isn't very. So we have already learned that. And in response, we go find players like Washington and Broome. But as soon as we play a competent offense, 1 or both of those guys is usually taken out of the game and limited to 15 or so minutes max. It's so stupid. Bc then we lose with Jenifer playing over Broome, or Brooks/Nsoseme playing over Washington. It's exactly how we've been losing all this time. Then we hear things about "gotta score", "need answers", "gotta score over 75 on this team". WELL YOU ALREADY KNOW THAT MICK AND YOU BENCH THE PLAYERS THAT CAN GET YOU THERE.

This is the best offense we may ever have under Cronin. And he supposedly realizes we need to score. So instead of grooming an amazing lineup all year, he been screwing around starting Justin Jenifer and benching 2 guys who were specifically brought to score, when we need points the most. It's a crime. Bc now we will lose the same way we always do against good teams. They will score bc they hit open shots and run good offense. We'll remove our players who can score, and we'll play 3 on 5. Then we'll go home bc we flat out cannot score in the mid 70s or higher if needed. We won't even try to. 25% of our playing time will go to guys who score 2 points max. So everytime Brooks gives up an and 1, or Nsoseme doesn't know what to do bc he's barely ever played organized basketball, or Jenifer has a guy shoot a 3 over him bc he's too short, we just don't get that back. At least Washington can go on a 7-0 run by himself in random spurts. But he's gotta be on the floor to do it. Same with Broome. These other guys just give us the same old same old. But hey, Cronin likes Jenifer better than Broome. So if we go home early, he can live with that. Smh.

Just think about that for a second. I am not even sure he had basketball shoes 3 years ago. Don't get me wrong...I like what he brings...but he has no clue how to play basketball yet.

This is the best offense we may ever have under Cronin.
Our offensive efficiency was better last year. We probably seem like a better offense to the eyes because we are playing a faster pace. But we're also turning the ball over a lot more. Troy was a very good game manager that we are missing this year.

I wanna know who's fault this would be? Who's job is it to find "killers"?

If you want to get to the next level you need to (as a coach) figure out the players who are going to get you there.

Now I don't agree completely here. I think we have enough weapons on this team to make a run. Whether or not you or Cronin does. I think we have a well balanced team...but we need to use it that way. We can't force the ball into the hands of two players when you have 5 weapons.

I think a lot of this IS Mick's fault. Either in recruiting or in player management. This is his best team by far...he better get the most out of it.

Player management 100%. Year after year he refuses to start and play the best players. We'll go home this year with 0 point Brooks, 0 point Nsoseme, and 0 point Jenifer playing more than Broome and Washington. Then we'll say we needed to score and lacked answers.

And btw, shoot the damn ball Gary. What is his deal? It's the end of his SR year and he's going to go out passing up shots and not being aggressive. Sad to watch.

We also never play the lineup that would make it the best team bc Cronin can't handle it.

Think about next year without Kyle and Gary and tell me you don't think this is the year we need to make a statement?

We will have the same guards...a little more matured...but we will be average at the very best at the 4 and 5 positions. Defensively we could be elite again...but offensively we will be bunk next year down low. If we are hoping Cane can give us a lift next year...we need to be hoping for it right now IMO!!

Broome is eligible as a grad transfer isn't he? I wouldn't blame him one bit if we went to play for a coach who can see he's better than Justin Jenifer and gives him more than 6 minutes in a huge road game.

the most painful thing about this season for me has been gary and jake in the x, florida, houston, and wsu games.

we need them to be our stars. gary has 7 of his 25 turnovers in those 4 games. jake has turned it over 13 times in those 4 games. they are shrinking in these games instead of being the stars we need.

im not sure of the rules since he's already transferred once.

Coach mentioned that we are averaging 67 points per game in losses. Like it was a lot. That right there is exactly why I'm concerned. If that's what we're aiming for against good teams in the tournament, we're going home.

Can we get on board that Virginia might be the first one seed to ever lose, since defense means nothing in the tournmant apparently.

i think the argument you're gonna get here is the 2 very good offenses we've faced got us for 1.17 ppp.

virginia held duke and unc to .9 ppp

Yeah at some point you will run into a team that is able to score on you. We don't seem prepared in any way to deal with that. That shouldn't be the case again. We couldn't deal with it in the past bc we didn't have the players. Now we do. But we refuse to play them together. Teams like Xavier, Wichita State, and Kansas have tweaked their lineups. They are gearing up for the stretch and playing the best guys. Malik Newman isn't perfect for Kansas. And he still isn't who Bill Self wants him to be. But it's the point in the season where you gotta just roll with the best guys and hope for the best. So he was inserted back into the starting lineup. We are on a 2 game losing streak and we have lost our 4 toughest games, and we can't make an adjustment to play our best players? That stubbornness kills us. The insisting that Jenifer, Brooks, and Nsoseme playing half the time at the 1 and 5 will give us different results in big games will be the death of us.

Another thing I wanted to ask about...

He said that NBA teams shoot 29% on their first attempt? And 42% on their second attempt? Is that right? That seems way too low.

The argument around here is that we need to score more points. Cronin's argument is that we need to fix the issues that allow us to give up 1.17. Despite the narratives, we're still #5 in kenpom.

So our defense isn't good? Are we writing of Kenpom already, do we need better metrics now. I mean how many teams has Virginia played, are all their games at .9 or are you just picking two really good games for them.

and it all comes down to we just have to play better and make a few more plays here and there.

i felt like we took close to wichita states best shot. it sucks to lose but when shamet is on like that, they are a great team.

we experimented a lot with iso'ing jake in the close games, maybe we learn to just trust the offense with 5 talented players.

all we can do is take what we've learned and move forward. if you find out maybe some things need tweaked, its better to find out now than in the tournament. we still have time to be who we need to be.
