Houston still available. Memphis. Ucf, byu

BYU has to many restrictions to be chosen over US, Memphis doesn’t have nearly as good a football program, and their city is hot garbage. Only thing they have is an up and coming basketball program that didn’t even make the tournament this year. NEXT. UCF is the only one I’d give any kind of possible edge to, but you bring them up, I thought teams wouldn’t want in state rivals? ACC already has miami and florida St, SEC has florida. Where’s your logic on that

What about Houston? And ucf could go big 12 or big 10 if they overlooked academics

Again our football program is much better than Houston’s. And Fickell has us running well, you really think we get no looks if we finish in the top ten 3 years in a row?

Postives for UC

-Market size (BIG market in comparison a lot of colleges)

-Geographic location. (Perfect for ACC, good for B12 to even out WVU)

-Recruiting location (Can recuit P5 talent in backyard, opens up recruiting pipeline to Ohio to conference opponents)

-Football succcess (Currently top 10. Proven success over last 15 years. Proven success under current staff, not a fluke)

-Basketball success (Top 10 Program of all time. Made 23 out of the last 30 tournaments. Two National Championships. 5 Final Fours.)

-Facilities (200 million in renovations to football basktball facilites in last 8 years. A new indoor facility is currently being discussed)

-Academics. (While UC isn't near the very top, they're relatively well respected. Look into a school like Boise St. who may be removed from discussion when paired against someone like us.)

-Support (Look at attendance figures for both basketball and football and then compare them to some of our G5 counterparts. Then compare to P5 place like Pitt and Rutgers. We're right with a nunber of P5's in support and a lot of G5's pale in comparison.)

I thought Rutgers b10 invite proved on field success isn’t what drove expansion. Probably helps but that’s not the main criteria

Your stats are only accurate if you count the metropolitan area, not the city.

Most people view Cincinnati as the entire area and not just city limits. That's generally how markets are represented and properly accounted for.

Fwiw, I live Anderson, outside of the city, have for 20 years. Guess what I write on all my mail for the city location? (Hint: It starts with a C)

Guess where I tell people I'm from? (Hint: It ends in an I)

Guess where 50% of the kids in my high school that commuted from Clermont County went to college? (Hint: It ryhmes with Dincinnati)

"Cincinnati" is a pretty sizeable market, that dwarfs a lot of schools that are currently in a P5. Evidence of this can be found in the fact that we have two professional sports teams.

They were in a coveted market.

Guess who else is in coveted market when compared to other current G5 schools?

Did you get it? (It's us)

The talk about metropolitan statistical area size or perceived area of influence is irrelevant. In the last round of realignment, media market size is what got Rutgers and Maryland into the Big10, since it directly affected ad revenue for their television contracts. We are the 37th largest media market: mediatracks.com/resources/nielsen-dma-rankings-2020/

But that's already outdated thinking. With the advent of streaming, media markets don't matter as much. They will matter even less now that sports betting is becoming legal. Really, revenue is all that matters now, regardless of where it comes from. We are #56 in revenue: usatoday.com/ncaa/finances

We're third among non-p5 schools, behind Houston and UCF. P5 schools (other than Pac12) at the bottom of the list that we could have a chance to replace are Georgia Tech, Kansas St, and NC St.

Not that coveted. Cause here we are, g5 and there were multiple opportunities for a conference to take us. B12, big 10, acc, b12 again, all passed over us... did you get it?

We had a short stint in a power conference.

So fanbase size is more important this time around?

It's hard to say exactly what will happen, but the SEC is tied up in a terrible television contract with CBS right now. They recently signed with ESPN going forward for 5 times as much money. In my opinion, the future of broadcasting deals will not be based off of exclusive media markets, but rather opening up to all viewers and promoting gambling. That will be the way to maximize revenue. And in that case, fan base is all that matters. I would not be shocked if ESPN+ becomes a joint broadcasting/betting platform soon. Fox Sports is already headed that direction with its partnership with Bally's casino.

I don’t think we are that coveted. We’ve been in a smaller conference the majority of our existence. I’d rather Be in a big conference but I don’t see it happening. I think there are many schools that have just as good as argument than us.

Houston is a better candidate IMO

They are in a major city with a big tv network.

They are ripe for growth.

Ah yes the 6 articles, the first 6 articles on google that all say we would be the most coveted must just be wrong and making it up for fun.
