Over the next two weeks I am going to clean up the 2011 recruiting tab and try to focus on the players I believe UC is now zeroed in on. As we always say, recruiting changes all the time. I want to streamline the thread and remove the players I believe are no longer on the Cincinnati radar.

Cincinnati is listed by no less than 12 of the top 150. I think of these there are 6-8 realistic possibilities at this point. The thought that the 2011 class is not going to be very good should be put to rest until the class is complete. I also really like Tyquan Goodlett who isn't ranked in the top 150, but who is a very good defender and a consumate team guy. With guys like BJ Young, Aaron Thomas, Jerome Seagears, Shaquille Thomas and others still out there, this class can still be very good. The obvious focus is guards and wing players. Memphis has to be considered the favorite for Cedrick McAfee. Chane still lists UC in his top 7, but with schools like North Carolina and Kentucky offering you have to think he will probably not end up in Clifton. I would like to see Mick and Co. get in deeper with Greg Lewis out of the D.C. area. He is a quality big man with upside but currently I believe Xavier and South Florida, along with Maryland, are the teams to beat. Guys like Marice Harkless and Jermaine Sanders will be interesting to follow over the coming months.

Thanks for all of your work on the BB recruiting forum. On the NCAAbbs site, there is a thread regarding a Serbian big man, Nemanja Bezbradica. Have you heard anything about him. Apparently Tennessee and UK are also interested, but one of the posters on that thread, who says he is friend of Bezbradica, reports that UC may be the leader for his services.

He was impressive playing against the US in the U17 World Championship in Hamburg, Germany. He scored 21 points and grabbed 8 boards on 10-13 shooting. He averaged just over 10 ppg for the tournament. He is a tough kid, with a strong body and he uses his body nicely in the paint. He also uses his body well rebounding both offensively and defensively. Athletically, he is not a freak, but above average. He does get into foul trouble too often and needs to play smarter in this regard. Has some good tools and the body to be a good low post player.

Kentucky has been looking at him more recently and Tennessee has offered along with the Bearcats. I have heard rumblings about UC being the favorite and even the possibility of a commitment. However, it has all been hearsay at this point.

Eli Carter has an in-home visit with Cincinnati on September 9th. The next day the Bearcats will do an in-home visit with Shaq Thomas. I have seen clips of carter and he looks to be a very solid prospect, He can score without a doubt but is he true PG im not really sure. This will be Thomas second visit, Lets hope he commits, he will be a welcome addition!!!

Sign both these kids and your class is instantly upgraded. Was hoping Carter would be part of the '10 class to add some scoring pop. Mick likes scoring pg's and Carter fits that mold.

Thomas is a very good rebounder, ultra athletic, and good in the open court. His ceiling is high.

Ellis, Guyn, Smith are all very good fast break players and athletic. Sensing a theme here. It was noted during spring AAU play that Guyn was top notch running the break and dishing or pulling up.

Good info. Do you have a link for that? I'd be interested in knowing who else Mick plans on doing in-home visits with.

Your welcome, I was also snooping into Guyn's twitter and theres a 6'-6" top 150 small forward by the name of E Victor nickerson who was asking where Guyn was going to school, You never know Guyn could help recruit this kid here!!

Nickerson has visited Charlotte and is going to visit Colorado and Richmond. Three star player that as far as I know UC has no interest in at this point.

One aspect of recruiting that I'm seeing from Cincinnati is that they are targeting kids with big time talent, that for one reason or another haven't had consistency in their game. Guys like Shaq Thomas, Amir Williams, and Myles Davis, and Octavious Ellis. With the program being down, and Mick not able to hit a home run on the 5 star, game changing recruits, it seems his approach is to get guys with top talent and try to bring consistency to their game. It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out.
