Thanks for posting. I enjoyed watching. Good camerawork btw, with just a couple of exceptions ;)

Ha yea, I wasn't watching the game through the viewfinder and a few times I was so caught up in the play I forgot to pan to the basket.

Really wish I would have gotten Gary Clark dunk denying block on Nysier Brooks. Was insane.

The UC channel posted a recap video on Youtube -- they've got that block on there. Awesome play.

Those were some good seats, video was great thank you.

It looked like Tre Scott to me has improved a lot by that video, everyone looked pretty good.

Seriously not a bad seat in the house. I have season tickets in the upper deck corner and i checked them out for a few minutea and they were insanely good seats for being the 2nd cheapest seats you can buy.

I would love if the Fifth Third Arena was modeled after BB&T. I wouldn't even mind the reduction in seats. Just a nice arena

How were the introductions? Any light/music features? Videos?

That was on of the big knocks on 5/3 arena is that they couldn't dim or turn off the lights because it would take too long to kick them back on again. I get the feeling we've been missing out on some pretty cool player introductions over the last few years and didn't know if they were planning on doing anything while we play at BB&T arena.

I expected very little out of Trevor Moore, but I must say he was the most pleasant surprise for me. He has the look of a real player and the best pure shooting form of any recruit in the Cronin era. Nsoseme was fun to watch too. Absolutely love his work rate and motor, and his attitude! I think he's going to contribute. Overall, this is definitely one of the deepest and most talented group of players top to bottom that I've ever seen in a bearcat uniform.....and that includes Kenyon's year, and the final 4 team. Very, very excited for this season.

Unfortunately, nothing special to report on those points.

Thanks for the vid, Justin.

Just looking at the stats...Broome had 20pts 10 assts and only 2 TOs, if you combine his red/black. Obviously, it's completely skewed because he's not going to play the whole game but still not a bad start.

For those of you that went, were Williams' 6 TOs because he was being aggressive or just bone-headed like the out-of-bounds play that Justin's vid shows? Because 20 pts is nice but 0 asst and 6 TOs is rough.

Just some minor mistakes. Im not overly concerned about it. He is going to contribute big.

I thought Trevor and Keith both looked comfortable about there. And both can contribute this year. Nsoseme game translates on any level since its about out working your opponent. You won't get an easy rebound with him in the game. And he moves well for his size. However the only guy who looked a little out of place was Diarra. He has skill and moves really well, just looked like its going to take him a little longer to click on this team. But tons of potential.

Scoring inside on this team, wether against the first or 2nd team, is going to be insanely difficult. Also, the team ran exclusive man to man tonight and pressed a lot.

I think Jarron maybe the smartest basketball player on the team. He didn't force anything, took great shots and made some pretty impressive passes.

I was impressed with Jenifer. His stats didn't show he matched Cane, but I thought he did a hell of a job and played better than I ever expected of him. I don't expect much drop off when Cane leaves the floor.

I am pretty fired up right now. Some big questions were answered or at least seem like it for now. We know what we have with 4 of our returning players. However...

Cane looks legit! Brooks has definitely improved on Offense. Williams can score. That takes care of our depth at each position.

Ellie and Scott played well. Moore wasn't on fire but he'll be fine I'm sure. Hopefully Diara comes around...I know he can shoot and he's got some serious reach.

I went to scrimmage from start to finish. Agreed on all your points. Broome reminds me of Van Exel. I know he is not going to be same player but he is a lefty, extremely quick, great passer, confident streaky shooter, and has similar body type. Moore & Williams are going to be special. Moore is built like a linebacker with a great touch from 3. He hit that 3 from 25 feet. Williams is a slasher with also a nice 3 point shot. He can also jump out of the gym. Scott, Brooks and Jennifer all look improved. Ellie & Diarra are our future bigs. Going to be a fun year!

The point guard situation is going to be interesting to me. Coming from from someone who really likes JJ and wishing he would have played a little more last year, I think Cane looks to be a bigger threat. Mick seems to want to give JJ every opportunity he can and really gets behind him, and deservedly so. JJ has worked really hard and is a good player. I really enjoy watching him play. But to be a title contender in the tourney, I think you need to give Cane more of the minutes. I feel a little bad for both of them. It seems like Mick recruited Cane thinking JJ didn't have what he wanted, and JJ went out and proved he can play. Cane commits to UC probably thinking he's gonna get the lion's share. And I know, I remember Mick telling him he had to come in and work and earn it, but I'm sure as the 7th leading scorer in the country and being as good as he is, he thought he would get the job.....

Cane is a stud. He can take us to the second weekend and beyond. IMO jenifer can’t do that. But he has improved enough to the point that he can clock 20-25 minutes a game and even share the floor with Broome. Jenifer has always been a great passer and doesn’t turn the ball over but one of the most impressive things I saw yesterday was the improvement on his shot. His two threes were silky smooth. And that adds another demension to his game.

If either can help us win they will get plenty of chances. If we are going to have a great season, we will need both to play great.

It's a big plus to me that our bench found a way to score 70 points on our starters. I was a little worried about offensive production from the bench but this scrimmage went a long way in showing some quality depth. I know it's just a scrimmage so I will temper my enthusiasm but I am less concerned than before about running up tempo most of the game. I think we can handle it.

Scoring on our defense is not an easy thing to do. Let alone playing with almost all backups except for 20 minutes at PG. Can't wait for the first exhibition.

Double doubles.

Brooks 14 points and 11 rebounds with 4 blocks. Led two categories

Cane 20 points with 10 dimes (2nd and 1st)

Nsoseme 10 points and 10 boards (in only 24 minutes)

Evans 11 points and 10 rebounds with 7 assists

Cumberland just missed with 14 points and 9 boards with 7 assists

Also gotta love Kyle putting up 25 points with 3 blocks, Williams 20 points, and Tre 16 points. Gary played like Gary and Justin played like Justin...both solid. Moore had an off shooting night and Diara was not his best. All in all some positive signs.

Some negative points. Evans didn't shoot well and neither did Moore. Williams had 6 turnovers, and Diara struggled. The good far outweighs the bad IMO.

Gotta have a reliable 2nd point guard - and the Cats do...I think Cane has more punch & quicker jets, although Jenifer is by no means slow, but in a tight game, you can rely on Justin to protect the ball...if only we could rely on him to hit free throws! I'm thinking that with the speed in the backcourt, they won't have to slow down much no matter who's on point...more concerned with the backups to Cumberland...Williams seems the front runner, or moving Evans to the 2 and subbing Scott or Nsoseme in at forward? Would be nice if at least one of the frosh can establish themselves as the primary backup

I can not wait until after a timeout and see which five players come on to the floor.I think off Cane and Jenifer and it reminds me of the UCONN teams. Point guards, size. shooters, zone busters , MAN we got it all. This season will be a difference maker for Mick on recruiting for the rest of his career as a coach. I will throw a few more words into what Mick has here. SMART, GOOD KIDS, TEAM PLAYERS. GO CATS !!!!!
