If anyone is going to the game any input is good wether how people have improved or what the strengths and weaknesses of the new guys are. I'm really interested to see tre Scott or see if quadri improved.

I would go to the game but I'm in New Hampshire😖

Cumberland is sitting court side. Good to see him here. Deberry looks really good. Had some nice blocks. You can tell he has lost weight but added muscle. I am excited to watch him this year. Jenifer is a ton of fun to watch with the ball. His passes can come at anytime.Shaq has looked solid as well.

Well, sounds like Ellis is a beast. 26 pts on 11-16 and 4-4 FT? Good grief.

KJ didn't shoot well, but had 3 AST 3 REB 1 STL and only 1 TO.

Caupain had a very Caupain type line. Same with Cobb.

10 boards for Clark. He and Ellis together is awesome.

Looks like Evans came on a little after a slow start.

Scott played 29 minutes compared to 9 for Quadri...

Anyone there have any insight?

Those stats for Ellis are nuts, it seems like the later into the season the better shooter kj becomes, I would think by looking at the minutes tee Scott is going to be the back this year at pf

I think Shaq finally has a chance to put together a solid season. I'd love to see him around 8-10 points with 4-5 rebounds a night. Definitely looks transformed physically.

Here is Coach's thoughts...

I can tell you Quardri looked like everybody expected him to look. Every freshman started while Quadri sat on the bench. When he was in they took it to the hole on him every time and grabbed multiple offensive boards. He looked as disinterested as ever.

Evans looked shaky at first but really warmed up to the game. He looks smooth with the ball and is more substance than flash.

I don't see too many minutes for Scott unless there is major foul trouble. He will play over Quadri, but anybody will play over Quadri. He had a nice bucket where he seemed competent around the rim, but he just won't play on this team.

Jenifer will be interesting. You can see the offensive talent, he has great vision, he's quick with the ball, he gets into problem areas on the court for the defense. His defense is not where Mick expects defense to be I don't think. That's understandable for a freshman in a practice game, and he actually picked Caupains pocket once when Caupain was too casual with the ball. He will race the ball up the court, but many times most of his teammates were lagging behind so he just had to stop and wait on them.

From the returning players they all looked about what you would expect. Ellis was dominant on both ends, DeBerry is so freaking big and strong, Clark was hustling all over the place. KJ missed a bunch of shots and did typical KJ plays. Cobb hit open 3's. Caupain didn't seem too intense in this one, and not really in a bad way. He seemed like a guy extremely comfortable and played it like it was a scrimmage. He seemed to be having some fun.

And I forgot about Shaq. Shaq looked, I don't know, a better version of himself but was still Shaq. He seemed really focused and played with intensity all game but he seemed to miss some shots he should make (although I haven't looked at any stats so maybe I'm not remembering correctly).

He did have multiple swats on defense. Again he just looked into it. From the waste up he's definitely bigger and that should help him when he's slashing. Still has those toothpick legs though.

Shaq did look bigger but on offense was same thing. At least two drives in the last 10 mins instead of slashing to the hoop he simply tried to push the defender out of the way and got fouls called. In the half court still seems hesitant.

I have to say I am still not sold on this team yet. Ellis looks improved but the issue with him has always been between the ears. If he is able to keep his emotions and his feet in check he could have a big year, those are big ifs. Deberry looks better but is he able to be effective for more than 20 mins a game? Foul trouble, injuries ejections to the front court could bite UC.

A lot of buys look like they can contribute. Jenifer had some nice dishes mostly to Ellis for dunks. Evans looks solid already and Scott had a nice floater in the lane. Washington was also active inside. KJ Quad and Shaq-to some degree, played the same way they did last year. Albeit hard to gather strengths and weaknesses from a scrimmage.

The team posters are awesome and was great to see Hicks, Blount Meachem and other alums.

I'm betting on jenifer playing most minutes out of newcomers

I'm with you bulldog. I think he will get the most minutes too. UC is desperate for a penetrating point guard that can score and dish. If we can get 20-30 good minutes out of Jenifer, we will be an elite 8 team. As I see it, a point guard like Jenifer is the missing link. If he can avoid turnovers and be productive, we will win a lot of games.

I would be shocked if Jenifer played 20+ mpg as a freshman. TC is our PG and will avg. at least 28mpg. I can't see Jenifer getting anytime at the 2....there just isn't enough minutes to go around on this squad and that is a good thing.

I see Jennifer's role as being very similar to what Terrance Gibson's was on our final 4 team. I believe he will be the spark off of our bench, that will get the crowd excited and pumped up and change the mood and pace of the game. I believe there will be times he plays more than 20 minutes, but probably most of the time he will not. We have two very good point guards already. He will be brought along slowly, but still will be a very vital part of this team. I saw enough yesterday in his passing skills to believe that he is going to be very very fun to watch and will be a very good player.
