I had him last year and almost kept him but chose Gary Sanchez instead. I saw a thing wondering how Bregman's power will translate since his batted ball numbers weren't amazing for how many HRs he ended up hitting. Lots of depth at 3B, I'd probably wait til later and get Sano or Justin Turner or something then take Franco or Moustakas late to have a solid backup. Jmo.
thanks Jake. I think I'll take your advise.

Anybody want to venture a guess on who will be in the reds starting rotation when they break camp?

Feldman
Arroyo
Reed
Finnegan
Stephenson

These 4 are locks
Feldman
Arroyo
Reed
Finnegan

The last is
Stephenson
Davis
Romano
out of the last three only Stephenson would not be effected by his service time. With that in mind I think he gets the nod. Regardless my the end of may I think all but 2 off the 5 will be different.

David, I got into my first ever points league. Doing it through the CBS fantasy baseball podcast. Draft tomorrow night. Any advice?

If Arroyo makes the rotation I will throw up. I didn't get MLB Extra Innings in 2017 to watch him pitch. The Reds should be done bottoming out so there's no good reason to send several young guys back down so Feldman, Arroyo and/or Adelman can start. Too many young arms to resort to that imo.

Jake take a look at the article I posted. It may explain this a bit better in regards to service time. Putting up with the veterans for a few weeks may not be a bad idea. See what you think.

all the youngsters had bad last outings except for Davis

And Arroyo will have a bad outing every single time he pitches against major leaguers. It's pointless. Like Jason Marquis a couple years ago. No way we should still be at that point. Time to move forward with the guys who are going to be around. Can't just stash guys away in the minors until they're 26. I get Feldman bc he could be trade bait. I get Adelman to an extent too bc he's serviceable and a good placeholder. But the Arroyo thing is what I can't get on board with.

Arroyo also has been hidden on the backfields for most of ST. Not many innings against ML hitters. Even so I believe he will break camp with the team as one of their starters.

Which is ridiculous. This is my problem with tanking. When do you finally stop doing it?

I think they would like this to be the last year. Senzel may hit the bigs next year. Winker should be here some time this year as will Herrera. Have to believe the verdict will be in on whether Hamilton will hit enough after this year. Some of the pitching questions should be answered.

Points leagues aren't that different. Power hitters are worth more, especially if they don't take points off for strikeouts. The biggest difference is you can't really cheat players by going after one category or another. Like any league, just look at how players scored last year. Pitching is interesting because a good set up man can be worth more than closers depending on how points are configured. From my experience points leagues kind of bring more parity to a league, which is good in theory, but it's hard to really separate yourself from other teams. You're choosing guys that average 2.3 points a day vs. 2.4 points a day which totals to .7 points a week. Mostly I guess it depends on how points are configured. My one league there's not much separation between players. Obviously the more points you CAN accumulate the more players can seperate themselves and the more strategy you can use. If your pitchers get negative points for giving up runs it can get interesting. My one league sometimes states can go -20 or worse if they get rocked. Like any league, know your rules going in and figure out a strategy or try to find if pitching or hitters can go for more and draft accordingly. Hope that helps.

I think if nothing else arroyo can provide good veteran leadership for all these young arms. This team isn't going to contend so if he's one of the best five or even for long relief I keep him around

No way he's one of the best 5. He was done 3 years ago before Tommy John.
