I'm a big baseball fan and a huge reds fan. Be that as it may I really can not get excited by the WBC. Am I a minority.

I love the WBC. Nice break from the normal ST imo. These guys will be playing right now anyway, makes for a fun event I think. I'll definitely be watching tonight and I have a fantasy draft during it. I'm excited.

I love Lucroy this year. He might be the #1 Catcher. I'm trying to get him or Schwarber. I wish I had that many keepers but we do just 1 hitter 1 pitcher and no 1st round picks to try to keep the turnover high. I got Darvish (16th round) and Gary Sanchez (23rd). I might draft another Catcher though bc Schwarber will be OF eligible and Lucroy could have a chance at 1B. I could also use a Util spot. I like having 2 good Catchers bc we get 162 games at each position so Catcher is tough to fill. Plus I don't totally trust Sanchez, I just couldn't pass him up as a last round pick.

You may want to consider Voigt of Oakland as a second catcher.

Yeah that's not a bad idea. If I miss early I may get a guy like him or Russell Martin late. You think Mesoraco is worth a flier?
I really don't. He's 34 games in last two years and I really think he'll start this year in Louisville. If you can pick him up late maybe but I really ain't expecting much this year from him.

Had an ok draft I thought. We're experimenting with Holds this year so I went light on SP for now so I can see how I want to work out my pitcHing staff. I got:
C G Sanchez
1B Rizzo
2B Carpenter
3B Donaldson
SS Russell
OF C Gonzalez, Myers, Schwarber
Util/Bench Benentendi, Dee Gordon, Andrus, and Brantley

SP Darvish, Felix, Fullmer, Matz, Estrada
RP W Davis, Osuna, Iglesias, Kelley, Lorenzen, and Bedrosian

I took those RP bc I'm actually hoping a few don't get saves and get holds with good rate stats. If Brantley and/or Iglesias start on the DL I'll have more flexibility to add another SP. Since more relievers are owned in this format, SP isn't a bad thing to need at this point.

I really dont feel like reading articles on the Reds, but i did see Stephenson isnt going to be in the rotation and probably the bullpen. Is there a reason for this? Right now we only have 3 starters. Finnegan,Reed and Feldman. Are they really going to put Romano and Garrett in the rotation and take a year off their contract when we may actually be competing then?

Garrett will be 25 in May. At some point he just needs to be a full-time major leaguer. Hard to expect to just plug him in when you hope to be good and expect him to be as good as you hope without any experience imo.

I'd bet that Adelman will be a stop-gap type in the rotation over Romano while DeSclafani and Bailey are out.

And I think Stephenson has projected as a bullpen guy long-term for a while bc he's a 2 pitch guy. Also seems like reports always suggest that he's not the best at taking coaching. Hard to get through 180+ innings under those circumstances.

Stephenson is still being stretched out to be in the rotation. He throw 4 innings in the same game Garrett went 5 innings.
Breakdown of his start.

My draft started last night. My first pick was Dallas Keuchel SP Houston.

I had Wade davis last year but he dropped a bit of his fast ball and it worried me. Saves are big points in my league

I figured Davis was fine since he got traded. If there were serious red flags not sure the Cubs would've taken him. Osuna for Toronto is really good too. And Edwin Diaz.

Who are some of the guys you're drafting in multiple leagues?

Hard to say, most are keeper leagues so it's a whole different mindset. I go after pitching first, then speed and average guys. My logic is most guys draft hitters first, so I steal better pitchers. When I get hitters, I miss out on the power guys, so I try to win the SB, Runs and Average categories. The three stats power hitters tend to not get. I've gone after Jose Ramirez in most of my leagues. Charlie Blackmon or AJ Pollack was my first hitter taken in two of my leagues. Got alydmis Diaz in a couple leagues. Adam Jones has fallen in the rankings so I snagged him. Some pitchers I think are sleepers are Lance lynn, coming off an injury he's way down in the rankings, Lance mcullers, Vince valesquez and James Paxton are two really late round guys I've gone after.
