Love all the hot takes. Lose to a ranked team on the road and everyone wants the coach fired. Not like we lost to some scrub team on our own floor.

Obviously there are some issues that have been troubling this team and they need to be fixed ASAP but honestly, if you believe with all your mind and heart the Cronin should be fired tomorrow, you are not a smart person.

Cumberland not knowing to foul there? That's coaching.
Washington taking the lazy jump 2 when we're trailing by 4 but in the bonus? That's coaching.
Not getting the ball to Evans more frequently? That's coaching.
Letting "Slow"pain walk the ball up in the last 4 minutes when you're trailing? That's coaching.
Kevin Johnson not closing out on ECM with less than a minute left? That's coaching.

Cronin has been a leech, getting enough success at the right times to keep his job while draining the life out of the program and the honor of the UC name.

The sky is falling!! Lol. You guys are ridiculous.

Rebounding lost us this game. If there's one thing outside of defense I trust Cronin to do, is improve rebounding.

It's a November loss to a ranked team. But, won't stop all those grumpy old trolls from coming out from underneath their bridges.

Why didn't we ditch the zone once they started drilling us towards the end of the first half? We just sat there and got outscored by 17 the rest of the way bc we didn't rebound and gave up open 3s...the 2 flaws of a zone...

Point blank Rhode Island loss is a bad one. They werent overly impressive and had we played like we did in the 1st half it would have been at 15 point spread. Again, why Kevin Johnson gets as much run as he does is beyond me. Gary Clark has regressed and continues to disappear in games. Capuain shows no urgency or pace even when his head coach is pleading with him to push the ball.

Rhode Island is good. They have some good players that were high recruits. Iverson, Terrell, and Matthews are damn good players. Martin is a great defensive piece....I wouldn't want to play them in March.

We definitely know what our issues are after this frustrating second half let down.

Different year, same result.

Yep!

Did Mick's team just lose another double digit lead in the second half? Yep.

Did Mick just lose another chance for an early quality OOC win? Yep.

It's amazing some expect diffrent results when history repeats itself. #the second decade start now!

Hope all you Mick homers pump your chest out enough for that glorious 7 day span of being a fringe top 25 team!

Other than the UConn game, it's not like teams are making crazy or improbable shots. Our defensive coach lets teams execute down the stretch and get the shots they want.

The concern I have is these types of issues haven't been fixed in the past few years. We lose games early in the season the same way we do late in the season. We finally have two legitimate studs on offense and still can't get over 70 points until the final minute.

Kevin Johnson needs to be out of the rotation starting tomorrow.
What is your obsession with 70 points? For once in a blue moon, the offense wasn't the problem. They scored 1.16 points per possession which is pretty damn good. Defense got lit up today to the tune of 1.206. Other than turnovers,I'm kinda excited about the offense and I don't expect Evans to have many games with 4 or more turnovers very often.

Pace is going to deflate this teams point totals. Yet again another 62-63 possession game.

Rhode Island certainly is a good team, it's not to take anything away from them. My concerns are as the season goes on, these issues historically have NOT been corrected. In March, all games are going to be like this one...

Defense has been the issue in almost every late game loss

Preach on brother!

Also don't forget Cumberland not blocking out that lead to a big second chance bucket for R.I. Also coaching!

Positives:
FT shooting isn't as bad as it has been. Team was above 73%. Got to the line more than RI.
Turnovers: only 11 in the game against a ranked opponent.
FG shooting wasn't terrible. Shot selection could be better down the stretch.

Negatives:
Rebounding. Only 29 boards? Ellis and Gates would have had that in the first half.
Team passing. Only 8 assists? Are you kidding me? Cashmere Wright would have had that in the first half.
Basketball IQ. Cumberland needs to learn when to foul.
Defense. Close out 3pt shooters? Nah.
Coaching/Game Plan. Ditch the zone? Nah.

I think the main one is that the zone just isn't working. Jacob's been asking about it and once teams figure out the weak spots ( the corner 3) they abuse it and we should then change to man.

I love that we are pressuring full court this season. I rather us drop back to man since Washington and Clark are able to guard bigs who can move around.
