If it increases our talent level I’d consider it, I’m not sure how good he is though. He could be good, I just don’t know. He barely played last year, and played for Evansville this year. Haven’t seen him play really

Absolutely not Samari Curtis. Not any way in hell that is a good idea

Hmm...I'd think about it. He's a good shooter. Doesn't commit fouls. Not good at much else though. Poor assist and rebounding numbers. But if we're just looking for a scorer on the wing, he could be a possibility. I'm hoping for better, but it seems like he could be a Harvey/Gabe replacement.

Idk. He played against bad teams and had twice as many TOs as assists.

So did Harvey. Both of their poor ratios are more to do with low assists than high turnovers. Samari's numbers are actually similar to Harvey in a lot of ways, and his career track seems to be too.

There are some decent teams in the MVC, especially Loyola and Drake. The four games against those teams (all on the road) were some of his best. He also had a great game against Belmont, putting up 19 points in only 17 minutes.

It's hard to tell how his game would translate here, but I think he's an option to replace Harvey if Brannen trusts him.

My hunch is that CJB stays away from risky players at just about all cost. He took a chance on Harvey and that has now backfired. Curtis would seem to be a deviation from his now controversial recruiting plan. He wants to be able to sit down with players (families) and get a good judge of character. Whether we like it or not I would hope he sticks with it now. Curtis is a walking transfer risk unlike many others. That tells me he seems to feel entitled to something he isn't always going to get. Unfortunately for him...he doesn't seem like a kid who has had the best advice from loved one's or handlers. Or he doesn't listen to them.

I understand the risks with Samari. But he's the 16th best wing available per Torvik's PRPG. We're not going to have our pick of the litter. I'd take Powell or about a dozen other guys first, but we'll have to find a player who wants to come here. UC might look attractive to him since he's from the area and previously committed. I have no idea what Brannen or Samari want, but I would be ok with him if there's mutual interest.

I don't think we will have the pick of the litter but we did get Rap and DD and Cumberland. I think all of those guys were in the upper echelon of possible transfers. Obviously Rap didn't fit on our team unless he played the 5 and/or Vogt wasn't on the floor. But he was up there on the list of transfers.

We SHOULD be able to get a top 5 mobile center. Not sure what we can get on the wing with our current roster. I would gladly go a few spots down from Curtis to get the right fit. Or we could get a top 5-10 guy too. Who knows.

Rayvon griffin and Paul McMillan are going be biggest hit or miss in UC basketball history. Two city public school kids that are projected McDonald’s all Americans

I know it’s a long shot but Earl Timberlake in the portal from Miami , Brannen was recruiting him before he committed to Miami U

We need a guy like this. A difference maker. Powell, Timberlake, beauchamp. I don’t know how realistic any of them are but I know we’ve talked to each of them before. That’s a start

Plans are moving davenport to the 3. Tari to the 4. We need an athletic big. Gee spoke highly of larkin tho.

Considering they've also spoken highly of Vogt and Rap (not to mention Sorolla), I'm taking an I'll believe it when I see it attitude when it comes to Lakhin.

If Davenport and Tari both stay, them at the 3 and 4 would make for a big lineup and help on rebounding. Davenport might be somewhat challenged staying with a smaller 3 on defense.

Agreed. But wishful thinking.

Would like to see davenport slim down a little. Same with saunders actually.

Mick talking about taking winning for granted after getting an 11 seed and playing in the play in game with a team that was ranked in the preseason. I’m not trying to start the mick vs brannen debate, I don’t care, but that comment but mick was rich. The guy is unreal

It’s the west side in him...

He’s down his best player ya know. And then lost his best rebounder/shot blocker/rim protector due to “personal reasons”

Pretty big losses to over come. Also, if you want to talk about a young team.....He doesn’t have a single senior on that team right now with Chris Smith tearing his ACL after 8 games.

Yet they made the tourney even after losing 4 straight.

Who’s better in year 3: UC or UCLA? Serious question, not a flame war
