Less skilled,,athletic 5’s - like Dou ???? Lol

I guess I need to add the part where they also have a good grasp on knowing what they’re doing out there. Dou actually has a skill of shooting and still can’t find the court much

Not a brand new roster. The core of the team is Etienne, Dennis, Wade, and Udeze - all returning players. Gilbert is the only newcomer playing significant (20+) minutes. I don't know why this myth persists.

Still a great job by the coaching staff though.

Gilbert made some killer plays down the stretch. They have a better best 5 than we do or even did with Harvey

Not only a better best 5, if you were building a starting lineup and could take guys from either roster, how many UC guys would it even have on it?

I'd take Gilbert, Etienne and Udeze. Probably Dennis as well. Keith is the only guy on UC who might be as good as WSU's top 3/4 guys.

I'd take Williams over Dennis. Maybe Davenport over Wade. Definitely their roster over ours though. It's not fun having a three point percentage ranked #330 in the country.

They started the season 94th in Kenpom based on 3 returning starters (like us) and added a vet in Gilbert (just like we added DJD) . They are 20 spots better than they started the season.

Uc is returned 3 starters, added a veteran from a high major. But we started the season 59 in Kenpom and are now 95 in Kenpom.

I think it’s fair to say that first year head coach Issac Brown has out coached our 2nd year coach.

He will be Coach of the year. WSU needs to remove that interim tag so he can get to recruiting.

Those defensive possessions by WSU were beautiful. And they played with more hustle than I’ve seen the Bearcats play with all year.

Hot take: John Brannen coaches too clean for this league.

This is league built in the image Mick Cronin ball. Dirty, gritty, tough, defensive and killers for rebounds.

Not really. Mick is a small joke.

Listen to this weeks bcj podcast. Lot of interesting points. Maybe we don’t know what we think we know

You can win other ways man. Believe it or not. Basketball is more than just cronin ball. I know that’s hard to believe

All indications are that Chad has no more access than we do, so he doesn't know any more than we do.

They've got an extremely optimistic/pro-brannen take, but I guess you'd be on board with that.

What are the interesting points?

Maybe Vogt comes back (which he has no actual reason to think)? Sorry, I don't want Vogt back. He doesn't fit Brannen's system and isn't a high quality 5.

Harvey didn't do anything but score. Wasn't the idea that Brannen would get guys who can play offense and teach them to play defense? It seems like Brannen's plan is get guys who do everything, but not that well and have a low ceiling.

Mason just wins games? Let's talk after the next 6.

I could go on, but basically the wrap is that you would fit in very well in terms of outlook on the radio show.

I’ll listen later but I don’t believe a word Chad Brendel says about UC anymore.

He’s state run media at this point. His access ain’t what it used to be and he’s the spin zone for the CJB administration in hopes of more access later. Seriously his scooped by random people or Justin Williams all the time.

Lol he says negative criticism of CJB’s program is bad for business. But looking at his board right now, it likes CJB is bad for his business.

So anything he says needs to be taken with a grain of salt. He’s been friends with brannen for 30 years.

If Greg Marshall rehabilitated his mean self, would you hire him at cincinnati ?

If were going to go with a rehab hire, I'd rather risk it all and go for Pitino. Marshall had money given to him hand over fist at WSU, which makes me wonder how much of an advantage that gave him.

Agree completely. Whens the last time Chad broke any news? Or anyone on his staff? That board gets all their information from regular posters. I mean a first time poster and then BRIAN SNOW broke the harvey news. But chad will say "i hinted at this" all the time after the fact and people get on their hands and knees and say....SEE CHAD DID KNOW.

probably not as good of friends as he wants to believe

Such as? I'm not listening

Legend breaking the news to the world that Born Ready was going to be a bearcat game... After seeing him at a random summer league game "oxygen".... Chad claimed it was "stolen" info lol. I've been blocked since.

I just listened. I guess the only new piece of information I took away was that Brannen wanted to keep Logan Johnson, Brooks, and Nsoseme when he arrived and that Nsoseme wanted to transfer when Cronin was still coach.

Otherwise, the segment was Justin Berg expressing blind optimism about the future, Chad's co-host trying to question that optimism, and Chad giving a pretty balanced take on what Brannen has done well and not so well with his first two recruiting classes.

I guess my biggest concern is that we've lost our competitive advantage over the rest of the conference and I don't see a path for us being a perennial top 50 team again anywhere in sight.

I think chad knows a little more than us. I’m not saying he in the know for everything but we don’t know anything. He knows more than that.

I found it interesting that Harvey’s advance stats says he’s the worst player on offense and defense. You guys love advanced stats.

I also found it interesting that brannen wanted to keep some of the guys, everyone here thinks he told everyone to leave.

Berg is a fairly neutral party. And knows basketball. I like listening to him
