I always look forward to honoring the Seniors each year on Senior Day...

Cash
as frustrating as Cash's year has been, he has provided many great moments in his career...he has helped return this program to the national spotlight...i know his knee was bad before he got here, but i really respect a kid who has fought through and overcome major injuries and surgeries...he has always had a good attitude...i hope he has a chance to play somewhere after college, whether it is in the states or overseas...although not a Siva level point guard, Cash's presence will be missed and hard to replace/fill...

Parker
I consider Parker to be the epitome of UC basketball...he fought for every loose ball and was never afraid of contact...his style/role has reminded me of E. McElroy...he faced a lot of adversity/reality his sophmore year...since then, he has given his all to the program...he has been the 'glue' guy during his tenure, and a major factor in last year's run...for his sake, i would love to see him to turn it on and spur this team to make another run this year...Parker's role/contributions may be the toughest to replace...

Mbodj
Never really came into his own...injuries definitely slowed his progress...and it didn't help not having 'big man' coaching...he busted his ass this offseason...he really stepped up his blocks this year...he is usually good for at least one play a game, where it seems like he is angry/pissed, and he flexes some muscle/size...not meant to be an insult, but he was so much more effective than Adam H...

Don't have much to say about that...

Very nice tribute except I think you slighted Alex. It takes a very special person to sit on the bench 4 years and never complain knowing he's very unlikely to get the call to play. To still cheer his teammates on even when they have a big lead (not often anymore) and Mick fails to give him a couple of minutes. I'm sure all the bench scholarship players could learn something about that from him. Actually I think the starters could as well every time Mick yanks them for a mistake. I'm sure he plays an important role in practice, but he'll never get any credit for that. He's our "Rudy" if you remember that movie. And if you don't, rent it from Netflix or wherever if you want a "feel good" movie experience.

i thank these guys for their hard work and dedication to the program.

but to be honest, been looking forward to these guys moving on for about two months.

the sooner i don't have to watch cash launch a 30 footer with 30 sec on the shot clock, or parker brick free throws, and moobj miss a layup the better.

ready for some fresh blood and hopefully some smarter and fundamental sound ball.

i think most fans of the program and most high school student athletes, would love the opportunity to be a walk on...you get a chance to develop an amazing work ethic, dietary/health knowledge, and you get the chance to make a name for yourself...when Epp graduates, he will have the opportunity to put this experience on his resume...not to mention, through the UCATS and sponsors of the program, he will have more connections than most can dream about...look at Geeker...i have heard his is doing very well for himself in the business world thanks to his connections...i did not mean to slight Alex, it is just that the fans did not get to know him like we did of Jamall Lucas...

You are absolutely right! There's nothing like the "good ol' boy" network to help get you where you want to go in life. For those of you reading this thread and not yet out there in the real world, my best advice is to make as many good contacts as you can and NEVER burn your bridges before you cross them. It doesn't matter your career path (they change), the system works. Too bad that advice doesn't help our team in the current situation

while I respect mbodj greatly, I commend parker, cash, and epp for being here for four or 5 years in some cases through the thick and thin. think about everything those 3 have been through and for them to make the tourney their last 3 years is something they all should be very proud of and we couldn't have done it without all 3 of them present. I respect epp a lot just due to the fact that he practiced just as hard as the rest of the guys, but never got to play.

The aforementioned seniors have nothing to regret. They may have had moments that made our collective skin crawl, but they play the game hard and as a fan, I would never ask for anything more. I have nothing but respect for all of them, and I only hope that the fans show up to honor their careers. I'm confident that they'll go out on top with a win.

I also hope Cronin starts Alex, as a ceremonial move to honor his commitment to the program. He may have played sparingly, but he went hard every day in practice, and that counts for something.

Alex absolutely should start, and if the team is playing well, should get a chance to play past the first dead ball as well. I have always thought that most college coaches don't show appreciation to their walk-ons nearly enough. I understand that game experience is more important for your regulars, but you're telling me you can't put your walk-in on the floor with more than a minute and a half to go in a 30+ point blowout?

The problem is Cronin only cares about Cronin and results and protecting his job. Starting Alex is an ethical issue. How do you get a coach who yells at his players for every little mistake (microcoaching) to have enough balls to start his walkon even against the doormat of the conference. Assuming we are good enough to come back from any misgivings of Alex, it should be a symbolic no-brainer for Cronin. Start the 3 amigos plus Alex and (take your pick) somebody at the 5. There is no way they could do any worse than they have done of late. It won't happen, though. And therein lies one of the reasons I don't think Mick is the "great" coach everyone tries to make him out to be. He's not trying to teach valuable life lessons along with basketball. It's like if a player violates team rules. What do you do as coach? No question - suspend him. Not for a half in an important game like so many of the coaches do. That teaches nothing. Zero. Zip. I don't care if it's the final game of the tournament. Not that he's been put in that situation. The NCAA did it for him last year. OK, enough of my rant. I'm not a Cronin fan. Schieds thinks all I post is negativity. Maybe he's right. But I can always wake up and look at myself in the mirror, learn from my mistakes. Can Cronin say that? START ALEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mick has already said that Alex is going to play against USF. What a ridiculous rant...

Cronin said Eppensteiner definitely will play in UC’s home finale against USF

In the article, it states Epp has played 10 minutes in 5 games all season. I know we haven't had a lot of blowouts one way or the other, but you're telling me that a senior walk-on who has played for you all 4 years can't get on the floor more than 10 minutes the entire freaking season? That's pretty crappy in my opinion.

Thank you Robert. Personally, I hope the game is +/- 5 points the whole way just to see how Mick will "fit him in"

Sorry dude, but this is a stupid post. Alex isn't owed anything and I promise you he knows that. He chose to become a walkon, Mick didn't promise him anything. It'd be one thing if this game wasn't important but this is a very important game. Hopefully Mick can get him in for a minute but if not and the game is too close I won't hold anything against him.

It's interesting to see you are so adamant about starting Alex but not Mbodj who is also a senior.

As for your point about players violating team rules, maybe you should ask Alvin Mitchell and Octavious Ellis what they think.

One more adage: You reap what you sow.

If it is a +/- 5 point game and Alex didn't start, he will not play. Based on how badly you want him to play, I would not root for that.

One more that doesn't make any sense or isn't applicable to this situation....You seriously need better things to complain about than a walkon not getting enough PT.

The issue wasn't him not getting enough playing time. Just one of ethics - the right thing to do. I'm done.

Robert, catp Dave, playing Alex has absolutely no baring on how Mick feels about Alex. First off the team comes before a individual. Alex will be rewarded for his effort. While his playing ability may not have garnered him PT his effort and desire will not go for naught in his next career. That is where Mick will reward him not a few meaninglessness minutes of a game. I have a son who was not a walk on but on scholarship but due to injuries was not afforded the Pt he could have earned. At senior night and end of year banquet his effort and role was highlighted. He was also helped by the block O club with job preparation and placement. He is working and the friends and memories he experienced during his 5 years will always be a life highlight for him. Don' t minimize Alex's experience by your uninformed comments if it happens he doesn't get in the game.
