Never too early to get thread going! This is another must win game. It is very important to win at home against anyone but especially a conference match up.

-11 am tip time is quite interesting. Will feel even earlier for SMU.

-SMU has played a pretty tough non conference.

-SMU played majority of those games without Kennedy. They have looked like the team everyone expected since his return.

-Hopefully we see the same UC team on Saturday. Focused, energized, tough, and ready to execute. Hopefully our shots are falling like they did yesterday. But even when they aren't, if we have good spacing and move without the ball we should be okay.

I see this game being a low scoring event. I think the coaches will have a strong game plan again.

UC-64
SMU-55

Think this will be a war with the returning players looking for pay back. I'm going with UC 63 SMU 60 as well.

I was looking at SMU's roster, is it correct that they have no freshman on this year's team?

UC 66
SMU 59

Ellis has to hold his own against Yanick Moreira (12.4 ppg). Cobb may be integral in helping defend the smallish Nic Moore (14.8 ppg) and Troy has to stay in front of him and not allow him to penetrate, while making him try to shoot over top of him. wouldn't surprise me to see Cobb guard Moore and TC guard Keith Frazier (11.4 ppg) when they are in together but Johnson and Morman will have a shot at Frazier as well.

This is an efficient offensive team and UC will have to be efficient defensively. They shoot 47% from the field, 37% as a team from the three point line, and 75% from the ft line. Frazier and Moore by far shoot the majority of their threes (110 0f their 163) so there is no question who you don't leave alone (Moore hits 45% and Frazier 38%) on the perimeter. SMU averages about 23 ft's per game with Ben Moore, Nic Moore and Moreira shooting over half of their 302 attempts on the season. Whoever guards Nic Moore, Ellis and Shaq need to play smart defensively guarding these three and not give up free points at the line.

SMU has 4 guys that average over 2 tpg and as a team they average 15 per game. This is where I see that UC can make some hay and possibly find the advantage they need to win the game. Forcing turnovers and converting them into points, along with limiting ft's and limiting second chance points (while converting our own) are the keys imo.

UC will need to move the ball and hit some 3's to force SMU from packing in against Clark and Ellis. This is the ideal game for Kevin Johnson to break out or Cobb to be hot from 3. Shaq needs to win the battle at the 3. Against NC St., UC got wing production from both positions. That has to happen today.

Thanks for the breakdown Jeff. Go Cats!

KJ is not getting any better. He can't continue to be a starter and get 20 minutes a game if he keeps playing like this. He's offering us very little right now.

Kevin Johnson needs to stay on the bench. He does absolutely nothing for this team. 3 turnovers in first 5min of the game.

I agree....he is struggling in every phase of the game. If Guyn were healthy I don't think we would see KJ nearly as much.

Shaq and KJ are hurting the team today. KJ hurts the team every game. His minutes have to be reduced until he shows improvement.

6 turnovers by those 2 in a half and neither are ball handlers. Shaq also caused another TO by running away from a ball flying at him.
