I thought this game would be trouble. Conference opener against a top conference team at 11 AM on a Saturday. It seems like we always struggle in early games.

Encouraged by Cobb, seems like he comes up big in big situations. This team can't forget to feed the ball to the bigs Ellis/Clark/Deberry. No Quadri at all today is telling.

Seems like there's 6 guys right now that I would be confident in. Ellis, Clark, Deberry, Thomas, Cobb and Caupain.

Someone out of Johnson Morman and Moore are going to have to step up and be able to provide quality minutes.

That's a good win. Nice second half. Cobb sparked that team to victory, but we can't rey on him every game. I really
Like watching Gary Clark play and can't wait to see what he becomes.

Today was definitely not the right game for Quadri to be out there. Good job by Clark and Ellis to not foul.

Sanders has been way off this year. KJ had as bad a game today as anyone can possibly have. It was fitting that as soon as Cobb came in for him in the 2nd half, Cobb goes on a personal 9-0 run and changes the game. Missing shots is one thing, but KJ does some mind boggling things (especially not pulling it out in the final 20 seconds of the 1st half). Shaq didn't have a great game but at least he is taking it to the hoop. I don't even mind if he doesn't get the foul call everytime. Caupain has been an inconsistent scorer this year. That surprises me but at least he makes all of his free throws. Clark and Ellis are 2 of the best players in the conference. We saw that today.
Wonderful job of adjusting to Moreira (sp?) and slowing him down in the 2nd half. I thought we might be in trouble when they went up 20-12, especially bc SMU has played well lately. But we shut them down.

Great win today. The cats had a great week. I hope we keep building momentum and confidence from this week.

Congrats again to LD. He coached a heck of a game. Cobb was the man. UC needs to take a chance and just go with him over KJ. Not sure what is going on with KJ but he is a complete liability on the floor, as is Shaq and Sanders. Cobb might shoot you out of a game but he'll keep you in a number of games as he did today. Without him UC was toast. Defense was terrific today.

Surprised they didn't have to replace the backboard after that Clark dunk. I think I heard thunder crack when he threw that one down.

I really want Morman to step up be he is incredibly immature right now. Pouts every time he gets taken out of the game and hasn't grasped his role on this team. He wants to be the man and that isn't going to happen. Way too many bad shots and he plays selfish on defense. It's not high school anymore, you can't just let your defender blow by you in hopes for a reach-around steal.

Davis said in the post game that they need Cobb off the bench because he is the only other pg they have. We could really use Guyn back.....not sure if he is out for the year.

Big, big, big win today. I felt if we had a shot at winning the conference today was a must win because, had we lost, you have to figure you'll lose at SMU if you can't beat them at home and I don't think we would have a better record than them losing to them twice. SMU is a tough match-up for us because they are good enough offensively to not be overwhelmed by our defense and they play really good defense which is always going to hinder us. We did a good job today of not only finding ways to score but containing their weapons on offense. Scorers are going to get their points but we didn't let them go nuts and forced enough shots to other guys that they didn't execute on. They did a great job of picking up each other off screens to not let SMU do what they wanted to on offense and in particularly Moore. They forced alot of turnovers too which is always nice. This team is improving. The defense has really looked sharp and the offense has at least shown the ability to adjust to the flow of the game and find ways to score. Cobb has a big second half again. When he is feeling it he can light it up. We are getting some points in the paint too which is key. We still look lost at times passing the ball around the perimeter and not moving on offense but I just hope we continue to improve in that area. I really liked the play early in the game when Caupain dribble penetrated and threw up the oop to Ellis after his man left him. When was the last time we saw something like that in the half-court?

All-in-all it is a great day to be a Bearcat!!

I've said this all year and have caught flack for it. Simple truth is you have to have either Caupain or Cobb on the floor for all 40 miutes so starting both of them is really tough to do. Games like today where the refs don't want to blow their whistles it would be OK, but games like NC State where we had 7 fouls 8 minutes into the game you would see alot of either KJ and Mormon at the point which I think we all can agree would not be good. We need Guyn back in a big way.

KJ is a complete disappointment coming off a very good off season. Cobb and Caupain are the only guards we have capable of scoring. If Guyn were capable of playing I'm not sure KJ even gets off the bench much. You'd see a three guard rotation for the most part.

I agree. If you looked up sophomore slump in the dictionary you might see his picture in there. I think he is a better player than he is showing so I hope he justs keeps is confidence and shakes out of it soon. I really wish we knew a time-table for Guyn. It didn't matter today, but I said before the game that we could've used him defensively against Moore. And obviously having a third guy to handle the ball would open up things so much better for playing Cobb more and KJ less until he figures things out.

I think you guys are right about getting Guyn back. Doesn't reflect in the stats, but there's a big difference between him and KJ.

He has the tools just can't get it mentally together. Watch his shots, everything is long and rushed. That's a sign of a nervous player. I sound like a broken record, but the bottom line is this team has got to find some wing scoring.
