As for this whole Cronin situation, every thread turns into the same discussion. Even those who consider themselves the top tier UC fans/ boosters who talk with Ono and Bohn every week, need to realize that Cronin isn't going anywhere. If we fired someone who has done the job that Cronin has, which is 6 straight NCAA Tourney berths, what coach would want to come and coach for a program who fires coaches for seemingly not winning a championship every season? That way of thinking makes no sense.

The basketball program seems to be getting back on track. I mean that in a way of getting players who can score and are offensively minded. Mick used the defense and rebounding tactic to compete in the Big East--and it worked--but now it's slowly changing towards offensive first players. Cobb, Clark, Caupain, Moore, Jenifer and Evans are all offensive first, IMO. Cumberland and Washington next year are the same way. Is the transition happening quick? No, but I doubt any program could just change it's philosophy in one season. After the arena renovations and, hopefully, an invite to a P5 conference, Cronin will have more to use to recruit.

Chad I do appreciate your input and consider you a fantastic source for UC athletics, but I just have to ask why every post ends with " ... " No harm or malicious intent, just curious. Thanks!

Started as a joke on a different message board 15 years ago and stuck. Just happens without even thinking about it now...

And Doogle JJ wasn't mishandled. Fact is against better competition he added little value. When you play games that are very tightly contested and there is a significant drop off in production from the back up to starter you won't get a very long leash. Fact is JJ adds depth not starter minutes. I really don't think you'll ever see him as a starter. Being recruited as depth doesn't mean he is a miss in the process. Not everyone turns into a star or starter.

I didn't say he was mishandled. I said he MIGHT have been mishandled. I'm not sitting on the bench or in practice, so it's hard to say. All we have on this board is opinion, and I was giving mine.

i have no issue with your opinion. I gave mine as well.

Wasn't impressed with the Jenifer signing and after this season I Don't get what people see in him. I hope he improves, but he's got a long way before he's anything more than a change of pace PG.

I do have an agenda. It's to make this a solid Top 10 or 20 program year in and year out. It's why I contribute a lot of money every year and attend every game each year. I love how the Cronin lovers always say that I have an agenda, as if they don't have their own agenda. My agenda is basketball excellence, something this coach is incapable of achieving. Period, end of story!

Mick has done a great job with what he was handed. Who do you want to coach UC? You think we are going to get some big time Coach to come here? We are not UK or Duke and will always struggle to consistently land high major recruits. We just don't have a lot to offer compared to other big time programs. He finds players who are under the radar but have potentially high upsides. Sometimes they work out sometimes they dont. Since day one certain fans like yourself never gave him a chance. He stayed competitive in the toughest conference probably ever with lesser talent. He took a player like SK and developed him into a All American but you continue to only focus on players that don't reach their full potential. You can't bash him for players that don't work out but give him no credit for the players that do.

The fact of the matter is all though Mick has not returned us to national prominence yet he has made very positive strides headed in that direction.

If Mick were to be let got we would get some up and coming mid to low major Coach who if he did a good job would be gone in two years to a bigger program. There is no one else out there that is more loyal to Uc basketball than Mick.

In all my years of attending UC basketball, I've never seen a player transformed, in a negative way, from the beginning of the season to the end of the season....as Jennifer was. From a super confident, loose, and creative point guard to one with little confidence and no creativity, ..even playing scared. It was an epic coaching failure.

Well, you said it all. With such a low expectation of what our program has to offer and where we can go, Mick is perfect for us.

Every year there are teams that underachieve due to any number of reasons, as U C did but I have been a fan since Ard- Ogletree- Roberson etc. and I don't know if I was ever more impressed with a group of players as I have been with this group.Competitive-hardworking-successful-wellspoken -humble- great representative students of this college and you better believe that is do to the head coach. Thank you coach Cronin and team' can't wait for next year.

I can't wait to see these guys again next year either. As a demanding fan, there are a lot of things I can honestly say I was very happy with this year.

We saw 7 years of his recruiting in the greatest basketball conference of all time. Why do we need to see more? Check out his last 3 classes in that conference. Pretty bad.

Check out the last3 classes overall (2013-15). Pretty good. We hit a home run in each one.

What did he at the beginning of the season that was so great, had a good scrimmage??? Maybe he's just out of his league right now, maybe he's a bust, maybe some of it is actually on the kid and not an epic failure of a coach. I think your ego took a major hit when you proclaimed Jenifer was basically the next Bearcat all American based on a scrimmage.

Yea i think everyone would love to know where this JJ obsession came from. He had a nice game where UC won by 60 but looked borderline lost against the real competition. I agree that he could turn into something...eventually, but the notion that he was this stud who was mis-managed is utter nonsense.

Losing Ellis and DeBerry will be tough to stomach next season.

I'm disappointed in losing Deberry because I think he had so much potential that Mick didn't utilize. The game against SJ was just an example. But of course after scoring 14 in the 1st half he barely played the second.

Mixed emotions on Ellis. He was a complete liability all year. Completely under-performed and his inconsistency made it impossible to count on him. I don't think UC will miss him at all. He'd pick and choose what games and what times he'd actually want to play.

I'll miss Cobb a lot though. Worked hard, didn't show boat, just went out and did his job. Oh, and he could actually shoot.

Shaq seems like a great kid so I feel bad how his career ended. But from a basketball POV, he just never materialized. I said this when it happened but the best thing for Evans was that Shaq got hurt. It forced Mick to play Evans more and we saw what he can do.

some people will grasp at any straw to berate and belittle our Coach. Been going on since he took the job. Go back and read some bearcatnews threads. Thankfully the people who hire and fire understand what we have.

lets not lump the kid in with some people who wish to use him as a means to criticize the coach. I hope JJ becomes a fine player. It's very obvious he has work to do to get there.

DeBerry had some good moments for sure. The issue with him was as a defender Ellis provided much more. As a combination they gave us good to very good production out of the post.

Like your comment on Cobb. He worked hard and did his job.

Program needs kids like Shaq. He was caught in a system that didn't play to his strengths and never complained once. Tried to blend in and do his job.

Ellis is a huge loss defensively.

Ellis was unbelievable inconsistent as a defender. Had the potential to be great and was at moments but he gave up a lot of points being lazy, going for blocks when he had no chance at it, or stupid goal tending plays. His goaltend against SJ was an epitome of his career here. Wish him the best but I don't think he'll be missed too much on the court.

Deberry had issues defensively but he could have been hidden better than having him switch on picks and get stuck defending someone much quicker than him at the 3 point line. Offensively he was a very tough matchup, but offense rarely matters in Mick's system.
