Heres some officiating 101 for you.
Pretty sure Gates shot a free throw after the bucket. That would mean he was FOULED

Things happen when you get the ball down low. You are blinded by your infatuation with Micky Mouse

Gates was definitely fouled at the end of the game. He was hit with the body when he made his move and pump faked. It was nice seeing Yancy take charge late in that game. The follow dunk he had was a big play in which he wanted the ball more than anyone else. At the end, I loved seeing him take control when it was obvious there was no double team coming. Well done Yancy.

I do my best to listen to Bearcat fans who don't share my point of view. I'm not always good at it, but I try. I can't tolerate a fucking retard trashing our team when he/she isn't a Bearcat fan.

I'm not going to say I'm definitely right, especially when I'm arguing with an actual Bearcat fan, but I think they called the foul on the arm contact even though the St. John's player was straight up.

Either way, big win...

I have it recorded and will watch it again tonight. I'll look at it closely and let you know. You may be right. I thought there was a bit of a push with the lower body as the arms were up. Regardless, I still like the aggressive move and the use of the backboard.

St Johns lost the game

Good insight. And for someone to lose, someone has to win. That someone was us, we won. I don't think that we looked close to great, or even good, but the hell if I'm going to spend all my time complaining about a road win.

This game today, IMO, may have saved the season. And with the next 5 games, and really the remaining schedule, we're set up fairly nice to have a chance to make it back to the dance. How about acting a little happy? Otherwise, why even bother coming on here?

If what is said is true, that you are indeed an OSU fan, then just say so. I would be more than happy to have a debate out the programs rather than try to figure out why on earth a supposed UC fan can't seem to get the sand out of his vag after a top 15 RPI road win.

This win wasn't pretty and there is a ton of work to be done to get this team playing good basketball again. But, I think this game was really significant in stopping the recent bleeding and allowing this team to gain some confidence again. Hopefully they can go home and take care of business against a scrappy Rutgers squad on Wednesday. Anybody know why this game is on at 9:00? It's not on ESPN or ESPN2 (or ESPNU) which they'll do sometimes to have a double header at 7:00 and 9:00.

Because Xavier is on at 7.

Yes St. Johns missed foul shots. That's part of the game. Bottom line is that whether is was ugly or a work of art, the Bearcats got a road win today against a team they may be competing with for an NCAA spot. This was also a big rpi win. Don't over think it just enjoy it. At the end of the season it will simply be a road win against a top rpi team. None of the rest will matter.

You bring no facts to the board. Everyones comback is OSU or retard or cus words.

Bring facts.

Biggie Mclain was very effective the first half. And the 2nd half he was making sure no one stole his chair. What kind of coaching is that? It took Coach Cronin 39 minutes and change to actually draw a play up to get the ball down low. And look what happened...

For the people complaining about the officials. Its simple. St Johns attacked the basket. Drawing fouls. The one time UC attacked the basket, foul or not they got the call.

Its simple. Stop name calling like a bunch of 5 year olds and bring me facts. until then shut your trap.

Apparently you have no class

I have been saying that Biggie has been our most effective big man in limited minutes. He should get more time. Thought he and Jackson were very effective when in the game together.

Typically you're gonna get homered by the refs when playing on the road but R2G makes a valid point. UC is not good at forcing fouls because they don't attack and they try to avoid contact when they do.

All of that said this is a team that is 17-3 and just got a nice road win. Notre Dame didn't win there and neither did Georgetown. Cincinnati is positioned to sweep the two games with a team they are locked in a battle with for league position and maybe a tournament spot. It was a big win.

Stop with all the "St. Johns lost it crap". UC made the plays when needed and St. Johns didn't. There are no style points for getting a win. This isn't college football. It's all decided on the court. Today UC won and that's all that matters. For every, "yeah they won but...", I will say good teams find a way to win when they play bad. Today they did.

Very big win by the Cats today.. St. Johns will be the team that UC is competing with to get into the tournament.. I know UC has been playing ugly but that is what the Big East forces you to do. This is not the ACC, teams dont average 90 a game. I am happy with the win, cause in this conference sometimes your lucky to just get 1 much less 8,9, or 10. St. Johns has proven they are legit and UC just went on there home court with them needing a win just as bad as us and beat them. GO UC!!!!!

I really hope Mick isnt as optimistic as the posters on here.

This team was supposed to have balanced scoring acrossed the board. An athletic team that can press and move the ball up the court for quick buckets.

A win is a win, true....

But seriously people, this team is in some trouble. You have to be able to score points. Last year it was Vaughn and LS for the reason the team could not score points. In the 3 losses and todays game the Bearcats have averaged 56pts/game...

What is the deal?

St. John's was favored to win the game. Mick coached the team to the upset victory. Notre Dame could not win at St. John's, Georgetown could not win at St. John's, West Virginia could not beat St. John's at WVU.

UC is very good, 17-3, blew out X by 20 points, MMVC Champs.

Yes Jack Bauer. I am an OSU Football fan and UC basketball fan. If OSU won a football game like UC won their basketball game, I would be deeply concerned with the remainder of the season.

Short term. Hell yea i'll take the W! Bottom line is they have not looked very good the past 4/5 games. AT ALL!

When the rpi is updated tomorrow, UC will own 2 wins against rpi top 25 teams. St. John's is currently 15th and Xavier 27th. Xaviers win over Temple should moved them into the rpi top 25 and St. John's will probably be somewhere around 23rd or 24th. That is a good thing.

I am concerned with our offense, but every team hits a downcycle during the season. Let's come home and get back on track.

Heres a senario for everyone on half time adjustments...

A)You have a big man who in 8 minutes had 6rbs and 4pts.
B)You also have on that same team a big man who can't throw the ball into the ocean sitting on a jet ski as your first big man sub.
C)You use player A) as a seat warmer

So what are your half time adjustments?

Micks answer: B and C

St. Johns was too athletic to play 2 big men at the same time considering the line ups they had consisting of only one true post man at a time (Brownlee and Burrell). Therefore Mick opted to use just 1 at a time and in the second half that was Yancy. While I think Biggie probably should have gotten a few minutes in the second half I cannot exactly blame Mick for not using him at all. He played a lot of Jackson/Wilks at the 4 and even stole some minutes for Bishop at the 4. Yancy is supposed to be the "guy" in the post so why would Mick not play him during crunch time?

If that's truly the case OSU football must drive you crazy with Tressel's play not to lose mentallity.

Cronin coached good enough to get a BEast road win. Fix the rest this week in practice.
