State of the team

No doubt. On a side note, after today, I really think UK will get beat. I can't believe we kept it competitive honestly. If we would have played them in January or early February I would have thought we score less than 30 on them. Our effort was amazing. We had quite a few chances to stay within a few points. Missed too many open shots.

I was thoroughly impressed with the effort. I was proud of the players on the floor. Tough as nails, strangely competed on an athletic level. Clark getting owe 50/50 balls over 7 footers was awesome. Played real strong. Troy had swag, and I think the swag the whole team played with bodes well for next year. I think in past years our team has lacked the attitude that they belong on the floor with highly touted teams. Today, I saw that attitude that they believed they could play with ANYBODY. That's awesome.

I agree with this. For the most part we were as good as they were. It was their depth that wore us down. With tired legs in the second half the shots stopped falling and our defense slowed down to allow numerous open shots for them. They were deeper than us, but our starting five against their starting five looked pretty even to me. But we never quit. It's a shame this wasn't a Thursday game, because they will need more than two days to recover from this one.

On a related note. The really unfair thing is that when Kentucky later has to vacate this win, it will still count as a loss for us.

If Evans next year can give us as much as Clark did this year watch out. It could be a special year. Mick has already said he would like to land another big time player to help us make a deep run next year, maybe he has somebody in mind. Things will be looking way way up in seven months. I also think it's important to keep LD as an assistant, and after this year all the assistants should get a raise.

Also, it appears that for next season we should be the conference pre-season favorite in both Football and Basketball, and maybe somebody in the Big 12 or ACC will notice that.

Last night was a small bit of pay back for a few of these less enjoyable moments.

I think I was in tears after every one of those games. Wvu,Iowa st and ucla games mad me sick. Couple that with the sad state of my Bengals And reds, I thought our city was cursed. 1999 made me know the city was indeed cursed. Kenyon and the reds flame out in the wild card game.

I think if we would have played anyone else today...the way we played today probably gets the win against any other team in the tourney.

If u look at the boxscore UK really only played 7. So much for their platoon. Wonder if anybody else forced them into that?

Cal was definitely scared, he clearly saw only his front court starters could play against our 3 man front court.

Agreed! Was talking to a good friend who is a huge UK fan after I posted that. He said playing only 7 hadn't happened all year and credit to UC for that. Johnson played 8 minutes and Lee just 2! Great effort by the Cats!

Don't know where else to put this.

Butler AD Barry Collier told me BU and Cincinnati are arranging a home-and-home that would begin next season at UC, 2016-17 at Hinkle.

i believe the state of the team and program as a whole is back at a national level without question. I have always been a cronin supporter and i get tired of the people living in the past. WHat cronin had when he got here to what he is at now with all the conference and terrible arena is awesome. I for one could not be more proud to be a die hard bearcat fan at the moment and i only see the program continuing to rise. I also see this team being a potential top 10 team next year. Well see what happens but with multiple years from clark and caupain left only greatness can happen. Call me crazy but after the loss yesterday i had never been more proud to call myself a bearcat fan

Enjoyed the season as well. Like many it's nice being a regular participant in the Dance but I feel going forward I would like to see us become a threat to the National Championship not just a threat to make the field of 64. Mick and staff have done a great job. Heading into next year with the pieces he has in place if he can get that one piece to add to the group he may be able to take that next step. Should be a busy off season for the staff because I think Mick feels the same way.

I think the state of the program has had some positive big news and rumors recently which I think will have a huge impact on the floor and in recruiting and potentially in a realignment bid!

Under Armour
Renovating arena news

We also have some kids working real hard in the off season putting on weight and muscle as well as taking off weight and getting more fit. Deberry, Ellis, Thomas, Scott to name a few. Showing future Bearcats the culture that JJ, TR, and SK left...hard work.

Now we have added 3 nice recruits in 24 hours which fill some areas where we were thin.

I think our kids are still riding a wave of confidence from the finish of last season. Watershed moment/year for our program? It could very well be

WH, I share your optimism for the coming season(s). However, it's guarded optimism for me. I've been down this road many times with Mick's teams, only to end up disappointed. Just making the big dance, but never being a real threat, does basically nothing for me. I hope to see an overall upgrade in all facets of the program, and it obviously starts with recruiting. Last week's recruiting news was a pleasant surprise and hopefully is a sign of more great things to come in future years.

We badly need our fanbase to return, so that we create a real home court advantage, one that will also attract great recruits who want to be a part of an incredible college basketball atmosphere. There's still a long way to go, but hopefully this recruiting class followed by a great season in 2015/2016, will really jumpstart a great era of Bearcat basketball.
