This thread proves what I have said for years. I never understood why someone wants to post during the game. Maybe it's my age but there are too many emotions during the game, I'd rather yell at the TV, LOL. I am sure we all have negative thoughts towards players and coaches at times, I just let myself cool down before I would put them in print.

That's some real wisdom right there. Takes a lot of discipline.

Definitely takes luck to win a game like last night. I think our core this year though just has a lot more experience than that group. That team was basically Caupain and Evans as the only options late in the year. We have a lot of players who know how to play through a full 40 minute game.

As the quote from (supposedly) Roman philosopher Seneca goes; "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity"

What's worse, I have found myself posting when I am sitting in the stands....that's just stupid, gotta stop that - reminds me of people who are so intent on getting pics of an event that they miss the event & only experience it on Instagram or FB :D

lets say kwash's 3 he makes 40% of the time and evans' game winner he hits 40% of the time. hitting them both back to back is low percentage.

then factor in how often temple misses the wide open 3's they had down the stretch, every single one of them.

people can call it whatever they want. im just glad we're on the right side of it cause we've been pretty unfortunate a lot in recent years.

That foul on Cumberland might not should've been called, but when you fly sideways at a shooter and make contact they'll call it every time. Got to be smarter.

I was surprised to see Clark shooting technicals and not Evans as well.
On TV they said Clark was 86% I think. I'd take JEIII as well, but Mick must have felt good with GC.

Xavier gettin beat right now by the Friars. But they don't care, cuz they look fabulous in they glitter shorts.

Cincinnati fans especially.

If you don’t understand the frustration I don’t know what to tell you. The team and offense was supposed to be the best team since the Huggins years and it looks exactly the same. If you are optimistic, that’s great, but I get the frustration.

Also every fan base is crazy. Go to any teams board that isn’t playing well. (I know we won). Or follow any soccer league outside of America. They are ready to fire a coach after 1 game. It not just here

We are 13-2. You'd think at some point that'd click with people and they'd realize it's pretty damn good. Instead it's "Yeah we may be 13-2 but what happened vs Harvard 5 years ago? And what will be happening next year?". It's so strange. This team this year can win any game. At what point do you admit as a fan that you are getting what you are claiming to root for? It's right in front of our faces. Our last home loss was over 2 calendar years ago. Season ticket holders just flat out don't see losses for years. Yet there's constant complaining. You would honestly think we are on the outside looking in on the NCAA Tournament by the way some people act. Just sitting back quietly while things go well, then rage-posting while they hate-watch when anything even goes the slightest bit wrong. We don't even have to lose for this to happen either. If these guys dare trail in a conference road game, some people are ready to get rid of it all. And the people who are here everyday are then supposed to show the same respect for these kinds of fans? No thanks. I'd rather not align with the trash portion of the fan base. And I won't be an apologist for it. There's a clear difference between people who have legitimate concerns (people like you and Longhaul), and people who use UC basketball as an outlet for their anger. And I won't let that 2nd group ever gain any traction no matter how hard they try.

If you are older than our players and you spend several hours a week cussing them out and talking sh*t about them while you watch the games, you likely have some pretty serious issues.

I for one had plenty of disparaging words to say about the loss, but it's more constructive criticism/concern rather than any sort of bashing. This team is very talented and has a chance to have a great season. I chalk up at Xavier to just fate that we are doomed when we play them. I say that jokingly, but not really.... The Florida game was ugly and Thursday was uglier. Sure every team has an off night shooting and maybe even focus-wise. Maybe that's all it was. Temple knows how to make it an ugly game against us. I'd love to see us take a different approach vs. them, but that's a separate issue. My main concern is how bad we can look at times. No this isn't a perfect roster, but you can't make a run in March when you can't bring a consistent effort night in, night out. Truth be told it's one game and it was a win so we'll forget about it once another game is played. Thursday night's effort might just be (and hopefully is) our worst performance of the season. I'm moving forward because this team has plenty of games to play and I still think they have plenty of room to improve and figure out exactly their potential. Let's hope they do.

As far as in game threads go, we used to open up a separate thread for the nonsensical things posters like to post during games. Maybe we need to go back to that and then close the thread after the game is over. It is amazing to me that some posters only show up literally during losses. But they're obviously fans watching the games that need an outlet. My suggestion is just don't pay them or their comments any mind. They'll disappear as soon as the game is over anyways. Just my two cents

It may be worth a shot to open an in-game thread. But the rules still have to apply. Its one thing to blow off some steam, but some of the stuff being said recently is just an embarrassing representation of UC fans. The absolute ugliest side of things. So unnecessary and so undeserved.

I can't say I've seen anyone "spend several hours a week" bashing a player. And all this garbage about people only posting during bad games / losses, not sure who does that either. I didn't post a thing during our two losses. This was just an especially bad game. People got ticked, get over it.

I mean while watching the games. That's what I mean by several hours a week. And if you want to side with the fans, or are that fan that cusses out our players, go post somewhere else. This isn't the place for you. I won't budge an inch on that. So we can keep talking about it, or you can decide whether you want to deal with it or not.

This has to be a joke.

Yeah, I keep seeing people claiming there is a lot of people bashing players but I rarely see it. Of course there are crazy people that do it but it’s not nearly as much as people claim.

There's definitely maybe half a dozen posters that pop up during rough games, dog the players/team/coach and pretty much are never heard from until the next bad game, whether it be weeks or months later. Ive been on this board since its inception and its been that way for years. I can get not posting all the time, I can go weeks not posting sometimes, especially in the offseason. Mostly because the convo can get stale and repetitive, but I'm on here every day. This site still offers great analysis from differing points of view and some knowledgeable fans. Some bring insights with stats, some with knowledge to break down plays, etc. Some optimists, some pessimists, some realists. As long as you can back up your opinion with facts it's all good imo, I like to hear and argue different takes. Law enforcement can tell you ten witnesses of a crime can all watch it happen and they'll give you ten different versions of what happened. That's why witness testimony is weak in the courtroom and also why fans on here can bicker so much. We all watch the same game, yet get so many takes. And none of us seem to agree with Mick's take, haha. At the end of the day as Jacob keeps saying, we are 13-2, our resume is solid and no worse than most teams that have all played bad here and there and picked up losses. This team isn't perfect and hopefully we are getting better going towards March cause we can all agree we want to make a run this year and have the talent to do it.

My fear in this, and this is my realist/part pessimistic side -- basically the success of our season for many many fans and nationwide basically rides on one game the second weekend of March, assuming we win the first game. Cause bottom line if we don't go sweet sixteen this year, it will be a failure. So everything building up to that is prep work for a 40 minute game where we have no control of who we play. Last year a great season was rewarded by getting to play realistically probably a top five team from last year in that game. That wasn't fair to that team plain and simple. Us fans will whine about the schedule or losing a game we shouldn't have, but every team loses games they shouldn't. I can look at yesterday alone and give you many examples. And I can all but guarantee the duketalk.com, xaviertalk.com, Kentuckytalk.coms of the world are blowing up with stupidity like ours does. Its why were fans. At least we're passionate. But I do agree that guys that never post and literally call players names is uncalled for and not what us regular/everyday fans and posters want to read and put up with. We're frustrated too by a lousy game. I seriously wanted to throw a brick through my TV when the feed went out. I go to bed at 8 during the week for work. I stayed up four hours late, knowing I'd get no sleep to watch MY team play. Yes, MY team. I live and breathe it. It's my hobby and I live and die with the team. So when the stupid feed goes out and the stupid announcers can't even give play by play, I was one grumpy mofo. But back to my point, everyone is frustrated, but we don't want to read nonsense and guys come out of the woodwork to pounce on the team when it's down and dog the players. I seriously wonder how and why and if they are really fans. If you don't like the coach and don't like the players....WHY ARE YOU WATCHING??

Anyways, off my soap box. Big game tonight, I'll be ten rows up in the corner as always cheering and yelling while everyone around me sits on their hands waiting to boo a foul.

Well said. Enjoy your insight as always.

Been posting along time on Bearcattalk. Think the moderators do a very good job providing a forum for folks to discuss the Cats. With that goes the truth that sites like this provide a opportunity for some people to hide behind their key board and disrupt the community. They also attempt to promote certain agendas. I have seen it go well beyond offering a opinion on the game or season. If people want to comment on the performance of a player that in my opinion is fair game but to personally attack the individual should not be tolerated.
