This was not his fault at all, it was like evans forgot he needed to come to the ball as backup PG and scott was forced to take the ball across the timeline to avoide 10 seconds. I'm not understanding the anti-scott train. He usually plays within himself pretty well.

Wrong.

Dribbling a basketball across half court, with zero pressure, in division 1 basketball.... Is not asking alot.

I remember him dribbling across half court during a press and getting called for a travel with nobody around. Cronin yanked him immediately for trying to play PG I think.

oh yeah i remember this one now. to me this was 100% on keith williams. you are a guard man, if they are denying our PG the ball (which they did) then dribble it. keith picked up his dribble for no reason, scott bailed him out, they kept denying evans the ball so scott had to dribble it up himself.

and watching the replay here quick, his turnover at 18 seconds left in the first half was on evans too. the pass came too late and got deflected before scott could deflect it, im actually surprised the official scorer gave that to scott.

Yeah, they seem scared to dribble at times. It’s basketball, Don’t understand why no one else can dribble it up the court.

I basically said the same thing before I seen this. They make it harder than it needs to be. Maybe that’s a coach thing, I don’t know but it’s confusing

Lol some of these guys on this blog must be perfect at their jobs. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes even no brainer errors that you can feel so stupid about. Unfortunately Tre did that last night. Oh well.

It's comical the people up in arms about this game. It happens, move on. We won. Every team in the top 25 has lost to another team and has looked bad at times. At least we won. Do you ever think it's bizarre that people just bash guys in their late teens early 20s that have a bad night or don't look as good as they hoped. Just enjoy the win and shut up already.

Sometimes you have to step away and look it at from a different side of view. My buddy is Michigan fan and was telling me how John O'Korn was getting and still getting torn up for his performance against OSU. Grown men telling this kid whose about to graduate from college at start his life how bad he sucks. It's pathetic. It's a game. Luckily for us we still came out of it with a W and are on track for an unbelievable season.

we could all sit around together after every game and sing kumbaya

but that would grow old fast too. the ignore feature on this site is a great one, if somebody is repeatedly posting things you dont like, block what they say. you can always unblock them in a couple days once they calm down.

@Temple and @UCF are always going to be ugly wins. I don't know what it is.

Temple has physical bigs and Central Florida has a 7'6 dude. Temple forces us into a grind it out style which we always struggle to score in and Tacko Fall completely takes away anything inside of 15 feet. Mick needs to come up with different game plans vs. these teams. He seems complacent to just know we will struggle in these games on the road. Just look at his pregame comments. "We always struggle there", "gonna be a defensive struggle", etc. I think he plays into it in these road games rather than come up with a different strategy cause he's so afraid the offense will struggle. Maybe he's right and maybe he's wrong, but we play these teams differently at home than on the road more times than not.

I can agree with that too. This falls on Mick. He talks about how you cant give false motivation well he did the opposite here by just assuming we were going to be cold and in a battle. Maybe approach it with a different mentality.

We played a bad game, Stuff happens we won. I believe that is 3 straight over temple.

Valid points. No doubt an awful performance, but how many past teams play like that and still win at temple? That's the difference in my book.

I hate to say it, but we only won because Temple completely sucked shooting, especially down the stretch. Yes, our guys fought hard and still played good D, but execution wise, any team on our schedule might could've beaten us last night had they simply made shots. I'll even go further and say any past Mick team would never rebound that bad so I'm not sure other Mick teams don't pull that out. Basically at the end of the day, Temple scored 53 points... that's why they lost. I won't take anything away from the guys getting a W fair and square but last night might have been one of the ugliest performances I've seen from our Bearcats in 25 years of being a fan. We won by sheer luck of not being the worse team last night. Just think if there was no blizzard and that place was sold out and rocking, too. I'm happy we won, but I won't hang my hat on anything other than it was an ugly game on both sides. And our effort level seemed horrible. Even the commentators noticed how when Jenifer hit the deck, no one came to his aide. After that, Nick lit the team up for it in te time out and we actually seemed to be more focused. This team has an identity issue if you ask me. We are too talented to lay eggs like we have in three games now. Even without Broome, there's no excuse for the effort last night as a whole.

It felt like every time we played fast last night, good things happened. Even with JJ running the point, pushing the pace and working to get open shots in transition and early in the shot clock seem to work to our advantage. This team is not great on offense when walking it up the court and allowing the defense to get set up.

Anyone go to the coach Cronin show in Monty inn?

Would love for someone to call him out/ask about the lack of pace in big games. It has become a yearly headache.

Not sure why we look to matchup well vs teams... instead of us forcing them to match up to us.

I remember that play and honestly I blame Cronin as much as the players because I'm assuming he was shouting to get the ball to evans. To set it up: Jenifer was on the bench and Evans was running point. Williams rebounded the ball and started dribbling up court. He abruptly stopped (in the back court with no defender on him....) to turn around and pass to evans. Evans was being guarded so he passed to Scott. Scott then dribbled past half court and picked up his dribble so he could pass to Evans. Being a PF and not pg, he shuffled his feet when he picked his dribble up. Not excusing Scott, but that whole play was just bad and no reason Williams couldn't handle the ball until Evans caught up to him. I remember the play vividly cause I started yelling to get Jenifer back in. I get Cane was out, but no excuse for that lack of mental understanding of how to advance a ball up court against no pressure.

productive conversations work by moving past the least important words of the entire argument. but i wouldnt expect anything else from you. ive gotten in multiple arguments with you and they are all the same.

Important part of conversation...Scott is terrible

Funny that you bring this up. I believe our last argument had to do with you saying something like "Evans is just not confident at all". Btw, did you catch the game last night? Asking for a friend...

I chalk it up to insisting we get toughness and defense bc if you don't have that on the road you're toast. Hopefully moving forward we have Broome to take some pressure off of the main ball handling duty. We struggled to get into stuff.

They were mentioning on the radio that just a few years ago we were on the other side of these types of games. Our veteran leadership came through. Clark, Washington, and Evans. And Jenifer at the beginning.

It's not a big deal really. It's one travel so what. I don't think Williams stayed in long either...lol. Someone was asking what his other turnovers were and it was just one I remembered. However, I think maybe the reason Scott was pulled is because it was probably still early in the 10 second count and he has probably been instructed to either wait for a guard or turn to look up court for a pass. Dribbling in the press is probably a nono for a few bigs unless it is absolutely necessary. Clark is probably the only big Cronin trusts to put the ball on the floor in the press.

Williams has done some questionable things bringing it up too. He has passed a couple of times he should not have...including this one. I remember him passing backwards on the run to Evans one time when Evans wasn't really looking and he also had a defender near him. We only have a few guys who can handle dribbling the ball in a press right now. Jenifer, Broome, and Evans. Clark doesn't dribble a lot but he knows what he is doing out there when passing the ball or handing it off.

I remember that year we lost a lot of close games. We were somewhat limited with scoring options. We turned it around the following year. We ESCAPED last night...but it did take some pretty good play down the stretch to get that done.

In the end it's going to be a W on the resume and the committee isn't going to stew over it like some of us fans...lol!
