Not a lot of positives from this game. Williams and Vogt need to cut done on the dumb fouls.

DeJulius had a great game, Tennessee couldn't stop him on the drive. Davenport looks like our best 3-point shooter, but struggled defending the 4. We struggled on the glass.

Tennessee did not play like the #12 team in the country, but still felt like they had the game under control pretty much all game. We kept it close, but did not feel like we were going to win it.

I see us getting blown out a few times in conference when we face teams that can play offense and defense. Also foresee a lot of nail-biters. Don't think we are an NCAA tournament team.

How many teams in our conference can play offense and defense? 1? Our conference sucks too. Honestly, I just want to win. I don’t care who the coach is, or who plays. I feel like we have only had one elite team in the last 20 years. We are basically Dayton. And it seems like we lose most of the bigger games we play

The 3 worst players today were our 3 seniors and it wasn’t even close and yet we still had chances to win that game. The biggest difference is we don’t have Jarron and Tre to bail out out this year. DJ is our best leader and he’s been here like 5 months. I think we continue to struggle this year as I think we may get blown out a few times in conference and then win some game we shouldn’t win, as of right now this team is no where near a tournament team

If Keith is our best player, we aren’t going to be good. He disappears too often, always has

I can remember a time in our program when beating any SEC at any venue would be a marquee win. Today we went on the road were victim of one of the most disparit foul totals I have ever seen and were in position to win if Williams had come through in the pinch like his role would demand. Obviously Williams is not yet able to fill Cumberland’s shoes seamlessly. We’ll see if he ever gets there. Overall this was a fantastic learning game for this team and I think it will pay dividends down the road. I think this team is going to fare very well under AAC competition.

I didn't come into this season expecting to be "good". With our seniors that left last year and Brooks transferring...it's more of a rebuilding year. It is what it is.

What I am looking for the rest of this season is guys to develop. Saunders, Harvey, MAW, etc.

Show me some improvement over the course of the season to build on and be more competitive next year.

Agree, I still think we can compete in our conference. Compete in conference, develop players, and hopefully get some pieces that can help next year. Wouldn’t mind winning some of these games we aren’t supposed to

I must be the only one at least a bit encouraged with what I saw for the future. Basically played with next years roster on the road vs a top 15 team and played even for 37 minutes despite an insane free throw and foul difference.

Put 2 shooters around DeJulius and the offense is going to be good. Twins and a transfer and next year the offense can look solid.

Can Tari transition into Obi-lite and we play a 4 guard lineup?

This year looks like its a year to improve the youngsters.

Keit, Vogt, Rap why are you three the least composed players on the roster. Thats embarrassing.

I like the non-SR wings. I thought the zone looked nice today too, lots of length and athleticism. Need a 5.

Harvey please never shoot another 3, but that guy can play defense. Him and MAW are gonna give other guards fits.

I mean we stink. I don't even know if we are top 50. But I think you can see the direction we are trying to go.

I feel much better playing that game with 20+ minutes from MAW, Eason, Davenport, and Harvey and 12 from Saunders than I would with upperclass man Logan Johnson, Nsoseme, Diarra, and Trevor Moore.

I am looking towards this year. It does not look promising. The Vogt/Rap combo is not good enough at center, Tari has promise but needs work as do many of the young guards. Keith continues his historical trend of dumb fouls.

For the future, yeah there is promise. There are a lot of guys who just need some polish (and DeJulius looks ready to take over and lead the team). We are going to need a lot of bodies at the 4/5 though. Eason is just one guy.

The 5 is the most difficult position to recruit and Brannen has not done well at doing so (2 busts in Rap/Sorolla, one barely good enough in Vogt). Diarra is an unknown for next year, but considering how little Brannen has played him and that he will be available to grad transfer, I would be a bit surprised to see him here next year.

Lahkin is an unknown, but based on what I've seen from his games in Russia, he looks like another big slow guy.

I don't care what you do or don't think Cronin would have done if he was still here. He doesn't coach here anymore. But based on his record (and the fact that he has turned UCLA around in less than a year), I'd say Cronin would have had an NCAA tournament team this year if he was still here.

The jury is still out on Brannen, but what Cronin may or may not have done is no longer relevant. My criteria is simple: this year, be at least above .500 in conference play, next year make the NCAA tournament, following years also make the NCAA tournament and have a top 25 team semi-regularly. Anything less than that and he should be fired.

You don’t have to be a good athlete or freak athlete to be a good big. We definitely need bigs but they don’t have to be athletic. Just good. We need a couple more pieces. I like everyone that brannen has recruited. The only complete miss he has had was McNeal so far. Rap has struggled a couple games but even if you count him to, brannen has still brought in a lot of good players in just over a year.

No he hasn't... not really

The problem is we need about 7 or 8 guys that can play. For the standard of what we are used to and what this program expects that's what we have to have. Nobody wanted a rebuild, we just wanted to get past the 2nd round we had a pretty good thing goin. I knew this would happen

Brannen wants a big that can pass. Screen and pass. It's a big part of the offense.

Those are probably going to be bigger/slower guys. But they fit a certain role in his offense.

We just need the shooters. You can see it. DeJulius can get guys wide open corner 3's all day long. These plays are going to be layups or free corner 3's in the future. Right now the drives get 3 help defenders cause they don't care to leave anybody open in the corner.

Brannen's style of basketball would seem to need athletic/mobile bigs.

He wants to play straight man-to-man and run, with a motion offense. A freak athlete isn't essential, but someone who can move reasonably well is. I don't understand his grabbing 7 footers who can't move, guys like Eason seem to fit that style better.

I'd count McNeal, Sorolla and Rap as whiffs. He has recruited guards well, but his recruiting of bigs leads a lot to be desired.

They may be alright in conference play but the target is going to be on their back being back to back champs. Keith needs helps we cant just rely on one guy esp not him he's just not on that level yet or at this point. I didn't think Tennessee was that good this yr or last yr. We really could of won this game

Many people, myself included, wouldnt have called what we had “a pretty good thing”. I didn’t enjoy getting a mid to lower seed every year and losing in the first weekend. And losing most of our big games. If you enjoyed that, that’s fine, but just realize it’s ok to want more than that if you call yourself a big program

Well, I mean you probably just don't understand the process and what one good run could of done on top of being in elite company of making it to the dance. I thought it was fine but could of been better. Guys were sniffing the league all across the CBB would we had an identity like most successful programs do

No I understand completely. He never made that run. Could of, should of, did not. Wish he did but didn’t.

On Diarra the reports are that he has a new born baby. So with the extra precautions and additional time away, plus the Covid risk, opting out is a reasonable precaution.

I hope he comes back next year, as I still say he has potential to be a star.
