Cronin said bc he gets to start whoever he wants and he wanted to start Moore. Also said he gets blame if they lose but he gets paid well so he doesn't mind. He liked how Moore practiced. Also said Cumberland has been practicing well.

Actually that's not what he said. He said Kyle didn't play tough against Butler and didn't respond well in practice. He said guys need to do what he tells them to do in practice or they won't start or even really play.

It is exactly what he said. But you're right he did add the part about not liking what he saw from Washington.

*Actually should note he was specifically asked if it was carry over from the Butler game and he said "No I just decided I wanted to start Quadri Moore. I base who starts off of things that happen in practice. I thought one guy practiced better than the other guy."

Why does Mick refuse to recruit a guy that can only shoot threes

Why is it important to have a guy that can only do one thing?

I agree with you but the incoming guy Trevor Moore is supposedly all 3s.

I think Cumberland was supposed to be that guy. I think before this season multiple people were saying Cumberland was the best 3-pt shooter on the team. Not performing like it, though.

Is it possible Cumberland erased concerns over his shooting in one game? Brilliant performance.

Like I said, he's got a good shot. Even though he's got a bit of an awkward release. However, his ball handling isn't great yet. One on one he uses his body well but in traffic he turns it over. Moeller gave him fits last month. Good passer though.

Cumberland's strongest skill at this point is his outside shooting. I've seen him play a couple of times and he hits a high percentage. 7/12 last night in a playoff game against Princeton. If he gets any space he's shooting.
:)

:)

Three ball has become so important... having a knock down shooter does so much for the offense...

Keeps defense honest. Can't double down. Doesn't clog lane up.

It's so valuable. Mick needs a bench player that comes in only to shoot threes.

i give a bit of credit to JJ as well. He was finding Jaron in rhythm. There was also no hesitation in his shot.

As someone who has seen him in HS can you tell he is in better physical condition? I can't wait to see him next year after a whole year in our program.

Yeah I was just going to comment that I was talking about the interview with Dan Hoard on the radio show. Mick's comments I posted are from that. I'll watch the youtube video in a little bit to see how much he altered his words.

Lol I was gonna say...pretty sure I know what I heard :).

I probably saw him in about 5 games his senior year. Never really appeared to be tired but also wasn't near as active on defense. He was a tank then too but I agree after next offseason I think we'll see another level.

Anybody have a stat on what KJ is shooting inside the arc. In post game he referenced trying to get those shots as opposed to 3's.

My contention is solely on the "only" part.

But I agree waterhead, I think he needs more time in each game. Like Jacob said coming in for 3-4 minutes at a time getting 1-2 shots off, hard to get going.

That's right, cuz. I've got this imagery of Christopher Walken constantly telling Mick he needs more Cumberland.

if he keeeps playing like he did lastnight I think he will a bunch more run.

You know it's like we have two different teams. We are more of a plodding, pound the post type with TC on the floor but with JJ leading our second unit and pushing the pace we are effective as well. Scott is much more effective in a up and down game. KJ and Cumberland as well.

Guys as a team we are shooting almost 57 % from in side the arc. If guys like Kevin,Gary and Troy can just reach their norm of 30-32 % from behind the arc we can really take a step forward. I'm not asking for any of them to be more then what they have been in their careers. Couple that with our bench starting to jell with Jaron,JJ,Brooks and Scott and we can have a very nice run. I am predicting that if those 3 come close to their norm going forward we win the league and conference title.

This was the first game of the year where I felt jenifer felt truly comfortable out there on offense.

I know he had hit some shots in other games but he was mostly still just passing around the 3 point line, and not penetrating.

This game he was facing dudes his size and moved well with and with out the ball and finished with 9 assists and zero TO's.

I hope he does the same in the next 2 games because were gonna need to get his confidence and feel at the highest for conference play.

But over all, with him and Broome, I feel very confident in UC's future over the next 2 years after Troy leaves

The style will certainly be different over next two years.
