8-4 with some bad losses:

-Murray State (who lost to Dayton)
-Baylor (good team but lost by 19)
-San Francisco
-UNC Asheville

Clearly, we should handle this team especially at home. But we've had bad losses to them in the past, and Harrison is a stud.

That said, I think we cruise.

Time to make Obekpa go home crying! :)

And God's Gift Achiuwa while we're at it.

Just looked at Obekpas stats. Notables are:

25.4 minutes / game
41.4% field goal %
28.6% from the Free Throw line
4.3 pts. per game
5.3 rebounds / game

All of that seems like a pretty rough start (grant it he's young)...except for this one...

5.3 blocks / game. He had one game with 11 blocks. Wow.

I must be bored. Looked up Achiuwa...redshirted this year. Weird considering he would have been a senior.

It seems like they don't play very good defense, especially after watching teams like Pitt and NM. They do however look like an athletic group who def have some scorers. At the same time Nova doesn't look that tough on d either.

I like UC against any team that relies on outside shooting and athleticism. UC will have problems with big, disciplined, physical teams until the players consistently do what they did in the second half of the Pitt game offensively. Once they do that they can beat anybody on a given night.

The only thing that worries me is that Obekpa alters or blocks a ton of shots early and causes the 'Cats to again settle on jumpers rather than drive to the hoop. If the 'Cats drive to the hoop and are able to attack Obekpa and even get him in foul trouble, the Bearcats will cruise.

Other than Georgetown with Marquette a notch below, the C7 schools are not very good this season. Villanova is having an off year and St. John's, DePaul, Providence, Seton Hall have not been good for a long while.

I hope the New Mexico and Pitt game made the team realize that getting to the foul line is a game changer and absolutely crucial for our success. We must drive to the basket and get foul, period. This has been a crucial key for us for years now. We usually go in spurts, we don't get to the rim or get fouled for a few games and sooner or later we lose because of it. Then the next game the players get the message, get fouled and usually win.

I would like to think this team doesn't need another loss to realize that getting fouled is huge. But sometimes, I still don't know if they get it.

Cats have been in a slump shooting. This would be a good game for them to get hot.

St yawns is not good. Period. They lost to mid major Murray state, Baylor by 19, San Francisco by 16, unca by 7 and lowly Villanova.

Uc will roll by 20

I'm going to say 69-61 UC. Back and forth game the whole way, then we pull away with about 8 minutes to go. St Johns always seems to give us a tough time. On paper we should win by 16, but I'm doubting that. I do think soon we'll get out of our shooting slump, but not yet. I bet we just shoot well enough to win.

I think we all remember what happened last time St. Johns played us at home. They will not be taken lightly and when you have players that can score like SJU anything can happen. Mick will have our players ready with 5 solid days off. 78-69 UC

If St. John's shoots like they did yesterday, we could be in a close one. Hopefully, they play defense like they did yesterday and our boys capitalize.

St. John's is young, but they have some very capable scorers. Chris Obekpa is every bit of the defender that he was billed to be. Even if the Johnnies aren't hot, it will be an extremely nerve-racking game. They always play well against the Cats. I say it's close, but UC comes out on top, 62-59.
