Regardless of the score, Rubles should have drove to the basket instead of shooting a jumper could have been a different outcome. We didn't deserve to win that game.

Confirmed: Wright is clearly the best player on this team and will be missed dearly next season. If replacing Gates was difficult, multiply that challenge by 10. Kilpatrick does not mean as much to this team's success - that is evident.

End of the Game: Rubles should have continued to drive to the basket: to get a layup, draw a foul, or miss and try for a tip in (like St. Johns did last year against us). He probably should have screened for Wright earlier in the possession.

Team should work on free throws (particularly Rubles who went 1-4 from the line at his last two trips).

Steve Lavin owns Mick Cronin. Not sure why Mick didn't use a timeout before St. John's last possession to set up a proper defense and to remind them to guard Harrison going to his right.

16 turnovers.

31% from the floor.

outrebounded in our gym.

more miss layups.

i'm truly concern moving forward.

Pretty clear that highly ranked recruiting also makes a difference.

I don't believe that talent overcame experience in the game today, especially the last 1 minute.

St. Johns played better offense and defense in the last minute. They gave the ball to the person with the best chance to score and got a shot off. Everyone knows St. Johns would go to Harrison. Everyone knows that Harrison loves going to his right side. That doesn't even account for what happened last year. Remember last year?

On the other side of the court, St. Johns arguably had a more difficult task. We have 2 or 3 people who could have taken the last shot. Yet they shut down Kilpatrick, snuffed Wright's attempt, and got Rubles to take a rushed shot.

TL;DR: St. Johns got the shot they wanted at both ends of the court. Better performance and coaching in the last minute for St. Johns, regardless of talent.

Were we watching the same game? I may have switched to the Bengals game too many times  We were out played by more talented kids IMO.

Ok. They have more talent and are also better coached? Im not sure...i believe mick is the better coach or else lavin would have his team in the top 25. But we count on less talented players to play at their top level all the time but when they dont more a more talented less well coached team can beat them.

Exactly. Lavin brings in top players every year. Their freshman and soph's are better than our juniors and seniors-FACT

Lavin made a big time coaching mistake up 10 with 5 minutes left he takes air out of the ball and destroys Johnnies offensive mojo.

Reading comprehension time. Did I say they were "better coached"?

I said they were coached better "in the last minute" in addition to playing better. The italicized part is a dependent clause.

Blaming "talent" is a cowardly excuse. Mick needs to get the team back on track for the game with Notre Dame.
