I think it is important to note that Xavier has an outstanding basketball team and should be congratulated on kicking out ass today.

Yancy better hope he can play basketball for a living cause I cant imagine he is going to be a fuctioning member of society. That was sad and the university should be ashamed in him.

Tu and Lyons are an embarressment to Xavier.

Macks comments were incredibly weak. Mick stood up and owned it.

KCourt wants to call that a sucker punch but 8 people threw punches. Gates landed. It was a brawl. Dont make this about being sour of a UC player knocking out a Xavier player.

If any UC fan brags about Gates knocking out Frease you're a loser. I dont want to see pictures or videos.

Wells needs to get his emotions in check.

G does as well.

This is a terrible day for sports IMO. People have no perspective on reality. Kcourt and numerous UC fans on this board have proved it today.

People need to realize these are 20-22 year olds playing basketball. It is embarressing how some people get so caught up in this.

The situation never should have happened, it should have been prevented.

As soon as G got shoved their was zero stopping it. And lets be real here. Put TheGreatOne in the shoes of a UC player. What are you going to do in that situation? Your teammate just got thrown to the ground... Are you walking away?

Nope. I have got into scrums at courts4sports when people shove my teammates. I know I have talked as much as TU lol. Let's not act like anyone was shot either.

I love how self righteous you are being. Let's be real though, all of America is calling it a sucker punch.

I'm not exactly sure how you want people to react, you say these are 20-22 year olds, and we need to put it in perspective. What exactly are you talking about there?

I'm not sure if you watched it live or not, and if you did not, it may be easier to sit back and criticize.

Maybe its me being a Bearcat fan, maybe, but I have a have a hard time blaming the UC players. A fight was started, not by them. They did what MOST ppl would do. Did Yancy throw a cheap one? Hell yes... So did everyone else, hell Lyons through a punch at a UC coach....Yancy was the one that connected.

Punishments all around, and well deserved. But to say this is a dark day for UC sports is overkill imo. Whats more dark is the on the court performance UC had.

The whole Xavier started it stuff, so they are worse is arguable. A player got in another players face, a shoved that player away from his teammate. I think this stuff happens a ton in college basketball, UC's whole bench then rushed the 5 Xavier players on the court, what do you think is going to happen?

Im not saying X didnt start it, but UC is just as much, if not more at fault for how it escalated. Hell, no one is mentioning Gates throwing the ball at Tu's face before the whole brawl broke out.

A shove or pushing someone is completely different then what happened. G got blindsided and thrown 5 ft. In that environment, with this rival, to say that isnt enough to start a fight isnt an accurate assessment.

He shoved him, he didn't throw a punch. If this happened away from the bench, nothing else happens. Dez probably gets T. When you have the entire UC bench rush those 5 guys, all of the bench throwing punches while doing so, yeah I'd say UC did just as much if not more to escalate the fight.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! What needs to be investigated is how the refs allowed that kind of behavior go on the entire game. Why did the refs simply ignore Cronin and tell him to shut up! Investigate why Mack left his players on the floor while obviously disrespecting the uc bench and fans. Investigate why the past 3 years Xavier runs their mouth, throws punches, verbally and physically abuse and disgrace the game of basketball and never gets reprimanded for it!! What a joke Xavier is and of course people only want to focus on UC when we were defending ourselves. Am I glad freese looks better with a black eye? No. But guess what? When you go into a melee and run your mouth and day you are going to kill everyone, you're subject to get punched. I don't see a point of playing those classless punks anymore because clearly they have no integrity and the biggest problem is the leader, Chris Mack and the president approves that behavior. Its a lose lose for UC because now our team has the most to lose and will end up getting the worse outcome of the two. You have Xavier players who should get suspended for publicly making comments such as putting us in a bodybag and zipping it up!!! Are you kidding me?! Then you have Mack defending them saying they are great kids with big hearts. Like Cronin said, grow up and get over yourselves. Xavier is a pure embarrassment.

We want to suspend kids for TRASH TALKING?!?! That's very soft.

I'm glad Gates feels as he was "defending" himself when no one was even going after him.

No we want to suspend kids for throwing players to the ground, causing fights. Two very very different things.

As for trash talking, I surely hope that wasnt their attempt in the post game. As a UC fan I was embarrassed for them. Hopefully one day they will look back and truly see how idiotic they sounded.

If you could read correctly it wasn't trash talking. It was making verbal death threats and even worse they had the lack of intelligence to tell the media what They were saying. How can you be proud of your team for acting so juvenile and delusional. What makes x so classless is they are ignorant to the fact of their players act Like prison inmates and their coach approves. All you can focus on is one punch that occurred once your team instigated the fight. You have no valid claim and get over the fact freese had That one coming. Its called karma.

I don't know, I've always thought a blind side punch is a bad thing.

Also, yes the "verbal death threats" is trash talking. I guarantee you stuff like that is said in many games across the country. You think that they actually meant that stuff?!?

Sorry X players were talking trash and hurt UC players feelings, maybe we shouldn't allow trash talking if it hurts players feelings?

Of course, Dez will be suspended. No one should be suspended for trash talking on the court. I've seen UC fans say XU started it because they were trash talking, that's just bull shit. XU started it with the shove, trash talking is part of the game.

My thoughts--Xavier had no problem with UC. They dominated.

Both teams should be embarrassed by what happened at the end of the game.

For UC fans mad at Tu for talking shit to Mick--were you guys pissed at Lance for talking shit to Mack a few years ago? Same thing.

IMO, the best thing that happened for UC was that fight at the end--now no one will talk about how thoroughly dominated they got- the fact that they are not even close to Xavier this year.

I will admit, for the first time in Micks career I was impressed with how he handled the situation. Well done.

You're so ignorant I wouldn't really expect anything less. You can't handle the truth and you're just as classless as Tu Lyons and Mack. Karma will come around and hopefully find you in a way freese received it today.

What was so bad at the press conference? Just the "gangstas" comment? (Didn't hear all of it just saw that qoute on twitter)

UMMMM did you not see Holloway score the bucket with 20 seconds left, run up the court, stare down our bench, and run his mouth for 5 seconds while pointing them out? And then continue to go up to Guyn? I'd guess that might have had something to do with it, buddy. Not to mention he and Lyons running their mouths the whole second half.

Yes, after Holloway was in Guyn's face, Guyn was reaching to point in Tu's face/shove whatever, but if Wells doesn't step in and completely shove Guyn, nothing big happens. Guyn and Tu would have been separated and that's it.

Instead, you talk trash right in front of our bench and shove our freshman? I'm not sure how many schools would have had players just sit on the bench and not do anything. Of course they are going to protect their teammate. If XU fans can say Wells was protecting Holloway, so can we.

It's hilarious that everyone points out Yancy but doesn't point out the 5+ swings from Lyons, Wells, and their walk-on each. I'm pretty sure they weren't just swinging their fists for fun... including swinging at our strength coach, which wouldn't be a good idea.

If XU would have just had some class and won the right way, none of this would have happened. Take notes from UC last year. Celebrate with your team on your bench, cheer on your teammates, and celebrate with your fans after; not jaw at the other team's bench the whole game and harass the other team's fans afterward. Yeah you can point out Lance two years ago, but that was also a double OT game, not a 20 point blowout. Trash talking is totally different in those cases.

I can't say I'm surprised it happened. Holloway has been a punk for 4 years (Butler water fountain, Dayton altercation, punch last year, known trash talker --> Lyons instigates him IMO) and Frease with the headbutt, and how he didn't shake hands after the UC game last year.

But yeah, you're totally right. UC started it, like always. Always our fault.

People who don't think it was "their teams fault" are crazy. Both teams are at fault. Don't be ignorant.
