Keep in mind the players already had practiced before the scrimmage. I'll give you my thoughts.

Cash looked great. If tonight was any indication he is going to have a great season. Shot looked good and he could pretty much do what he wanted on the floor. Man the perimeter will be strong if he stays healthy.

Guyn has to have an edge at backing up Cash. I told everyone he could be a defensive stopper and he showed that by pressuring the ball and making several steals. He made some outside shots too. Reminds me of A.D. Jackson. Made a very nice floater on the baseline after a crossover and hit a 3 over Cash.

Davis didn't look that great offensively but he is steady and calm. Gonna be a nice part of the future. Too many turnovers.

Parker didn't do much offensively either but played good D while guarding Dixon. He looks like he could help with Bishops loss there. Missed a lay up.

Dixon showed a flash of getting to the rim and finished nicely. Had a dunk, hit a couple threes and got to the rim. Again I say the perimeter is going to look good.

SK is going to ave 13-15 ppg. He won the 3 pt contest, had a dunk off an ally oop and was just efficient with his shots. So excited about the possibilities for him this season. Talked smack and was an offensive weapon when he chose to be.

Sanders is a smart and smooth player. He's not athletic but is simply a basketball player. He will contribute. Still needs to add some quickness but I believe his basketball iq will help him defensively. He and Guyn were the best newcomers by far. Nice outside shot and could take Parkers place if he can play D.

Gates could do what he wanted when on the low block. Played around a lot and I hope he understands where his bread is buttered when it counts. He looks great. He had a very nice drop step move on Gaines. Great shape and a hoss on the block.

Cheikh was playing on a bum ankle. He will be a good complement to Gates and a step up from Thomas. Good strength and will help rebounding. Made a nice looking baby hook that I hope he uses regular. He is a better mid-range shooter than he showed.

Jackson played more within himself. Want to see more of the 15 ft shot I keep saying he has. He loves to pass but we need 6-8 from him off the bench. Displayed a good head fake. Interacted great with fans and players.

Gaines will contribute in short spurts as a rebound/defense guy. Think he will be pretty good in 2 yrs. and be a solid contributor next season. So athletic and rebounds.

Ellis also is very athletic but physically needs a year. Gaines and Ellis will give UC a ton of athletcism in the next 2-3 seasons. Gets off his feet very quickly.

Overall it was a fun undisciplined affair. It's evident that the combo of Cash, Dixon and SK will be very strong. Gates is going to be a monster if he stays aggressive. Sanders was impressive and Guyn was clearly better than Davis. The affection the players have for each other is obvious. Cash, Dixon, SK, Gates, Sanders and Guyn were the best players to me. Add in Cheikh JJ and you have a solid 8 man rotation along with Parker and some spot minutes from Gaines. Really like our top 8-9 and the starting 5 will be very good.

Nothing from the Enquirer on the scrimmage. UC is going to have to kick the door down to get some print. A top 25 team and you can't get coverage. Unreal. We need to overload the Enquirer with complaints.

Ill give more thoughts later but this is going to be a really fun year. I would expect mick to lean on his starters more this year in big games as our starting lineup is loaded. Cash was incredible last night. Just gotta pray he stays healthy.

I just posted in another thread how I think the media really lets us down hyping us up. They seem more concerned with reporting the news and scores than talking sports and building up a game. It disappoints me that we only get a half-hour pre-game show on the radio before games. I realize ratings pay the bills, but there has to be more these media outlets can do to generate a buzz about the local teams (even X and Miami), And guess what, if the town is buzzed about the teams they'll tune in to follow what happens. Works for ESPN. They create plenty of buzz for games they will cover.
