This... I was at the game. the replay they showed it didnt seem to hit... The fact that they changed there calls 8 times is pathetic.

Heard alot of people on twitter say it was clearly the wrong call.

On tv, none of the cameras looked like it touched him except one which did look like it slightly touched his ankle. Considering the call on the floor was Louisville ball, I probably wouldn't have overturned it because of that angle. The seven minute dog and pony show, switching back and forth was the only thing that bothered me.

Shaq scored 11 points in the first game against them, and came up with a goose egg today. He definitely lost confidence after getting a few shots swatted early. Louisville was very good on the interior defensively...

Neither of our point guards played well, but how many turnovers did GG have? seemed like a ton...

I'm not sure what Caupain did poorly. He came up with the huge play before halftime, and then when Louisville denied SK the ball on our last possession, Caupain took it to the rim and drew the foul, then nailed both FT.

GG had 4 turnovers and a couple really really bad fouls.

Not to mention the blow to his head that led to a hard fall on his wrist that resulted in no call. Harrell got away with more contact than any player on the court today. That allowed him to play a ridiculous 39 minutes, which he took full advantage of on the offensive end.

Louisville does a great job at help defense. Our bigs aren't the best at going to the rim so most of the time when our guards/forwards penetrate they must try to shoot it vs 3 defenders.

Shaq might not have been able to see straight after Harrell took his head off in the first half.

I don't get how you watch it and then make a call and go to resume play and then whistle it again and rewatch it. You already watched it enough to make the call. Either way that call didn't cost us the game. But we seriously need some better officiating in these games. Our refs are embarrassing themselves out there. They really don't seem to understand the game or seem to be watching the play on the court. Everyone's a homer when watching their team but I do try to be as objective as possible. I'll agree with most of the fouls and even point out fouls they missed on us. Like Rubles should've gotten an intentional foul when he grabbed Hancock's foot to stop the play from resuming upcourt. That to me was an easy one to make. There were some plays around the rim where we got away with some bodying on the shooter and that was going both ways. As long as its consistent I'm fine. Harrell should not have been shooting free throws after an offensive foul on Kilpatrick. That's just not knowing the game of basketball. NTS, I think, said they ruled it after the shot but if so that is bogus. I have literally never seen that call made. I think the ref had too big an ego and wanted to be the star of the show. He made the wrong call and was too proud to be overturned. In reality I would take a one and one with Harrell at just about any point. They could've gone down and hit a three or any basket or someone else (JJ) could've picked up a foul on the ensuing play. So that call was pretty much inconsequential in the grand scheme of things as far as outcome of the game but it is still very telling of how poor the officials were.

Same. Thought he did well, especially when compared to Guyn. I do think Caupain still needs to start figuring out that he's not going up against high schoolers anymore when he drives. I swear he gets blocked every time. Need to be able to recognize that when you're driving at a 6'10" big man, you've got to shoot it high off the class, or dish it to someone else.

he also had 0 boards. I'm 60 and I think I could get 1 board in 21 minutes.

Harrell was a beast today, and maybe I missed it but I didn't see a blatant foul call on him. The foul on Thomas looked like a clean block in real time but on review he got hit on the head from the follow through.

Did Jackson pick up another foul after the first two? It seemed like he was playing not to foul after he came back in the game. He needed to put Harrell on the line on those two baskets in the last minute. Mick said he was shooting 37% in conference play and was pretty bad today...

It's put up or shut up time for Shaq. If he's going to continue to play weak and timid then Mormon, KJ, Moore, Clark and Lawrence will steal his platooning time away with Sanders next year. He looked like a deer in headlights out there. Problem right now is Sanders looks just as timid at times, although not as bad, and KJ really is too small and doesn't have the experience to be out there. He really needs to step up his game and right now. Come March we can't expect to win with Kilpatrick alone. It still baffles me that we hung around as long as we did. At one point late in the game Kilpatrick had 23 and Sanders was our next leading scorer at 5. That's inexcusable from a team perspective. Credit Louisville's defense fine, but like I said in my earlier post, you can't let them defend you 30 feet from the basket with their guard play and defense. Too many possessions we were letting their guards defend us too far out to even begin to try to get the ball inside or to force the action. We know we're limited on offense but let your weaknesses be what beats you not being timid because of your weaknesses. What I mean is lose because you couldn't make the shots, not because you couldn't even get the shot off. Rubles is the main culprit of this. And while on one point I'm happy he knows his liabilities and tries to get others involved he passes up way too many chances ten feet and in. Especially when JJ is off the floor. For the offense to run effectively you have to get the ball inside. He gets the ball inside and then turns and resets the offense instead of forcing the action and trying to draw a foul or make a shot.

Besides Killa the team plays timid on offense. They don't attack the rim and seem scared to shoot. Rubles can be a liability on offense. I wish they just play and play hard.

For a team who loses their key post player 3 minutes in, and who only has one player unafraid to shoot, they played at the next level which I said they needed to do when everyone castigated me. We probably could have pulled it out at the end had we waited to shoot with less time on the clock (maybe 3 or 4 seconds remaining). But, we didn't. Game over. Next game.
You can blame the refs if you're looking for excuses, you can blame GG for getting stripped (they stripped SK two or three times, too), you can blame TC for not knowing how to inbound a ball, but in the end, all that counts is the final tally. I am glad that we didn't embarrass ourselves. SK, try as he did, cannot carry the team by himself. LOU has a lock-down defense better than ours and probably 2nd only to Florida. They had us overwhelmed, at times. We couldn't return the favor. We really needed JJ on the floor 35+ minutes. His presence is game altering. The Mean Face tee shirts, while a great PR idea, had the effect of pre-game showboat comments before big games. They probably fired up the Cards thus neutralizing our home court advantage. While it was a frustrating, heartbreaking game to lose, it lets the upcoming opposition know we won't go down without a fight to the finish - just like UC's fight song. I was hoping for a finish with the walk-ons on the court at end, but...........

The refs fucked us. I was at the game. They took every ounce of momentum out of the game. Honestly it makes me sick. We deserved to win that game. There were other forces that caused us to lose.

I'm not sure t-shirts had much to do with loss. We got beat. Our young guys will learn from it. Mick will have the team ready for the next game. Today was a heart breaker for sure. I'm not sure what team you've been watching all year to just be hoping they don't embarrass themselves. I'm happy you got a "walk on" dig in there. While I didn't agree with you on that comment in the ucf thread the replies seemed pretty harsh

There was nothing...nothing...nothing that warranted UL getting the ball back on the ball off of Russ Smiths foot. In both games with UL the refs have played a role in the end result of the game. Twice they have absolutely killed UC momentum. Horrible inexcusable calls. To take over 7 minutes to make a call and still there is nothing to show the ball hit Thomas? That was pitiful. The reasoning behind the charge when a kid is in the air and coming down? Again simply bogus. If a television crew played a role in the outcome of this game I dont know what to say. UC had their chance to win. But for anyone to say the refs didn't adversely and directly effect the game is ridiculous.

As usual your comments are misguided. There is a one point difference in the game and you say Louisvilles lockdown D is far superiorto UCs. Seem to remember UC winning last game against them. You're just one of the few who love to attack this team and coach.

Agreed, I don't have the time to list all those bad calls. Can't wait to get them in the AAC championship, and maybe again late in march. That was a physical battle. Sk deserves some love put the team on his back. The early fouls caused jj to play timid at time. If jj stayed out of foul trouble we win that game, we had that one and it hurts, but we won't fall hardly at all. Wow I can't wait to dominate them in the tourney. We got all that anger, let's win out win that tourney and go into march pissed. I know this isn't the best time for this prediction, but I got uc going to the final four. Matchups don't affect my prediction. Defense toughness wins alone, but if we get hot watch out. But again watching sk I'm in awe, that man makes plays, great bearcat

Actually yes there is. The initial ruling was out of bounds to Louisville. There had to be irrefutable evidence that it was off of Louisville to reverse the call. It could not be verified thus the original call sticks. Basketball rule 101.

That being said, it was a hell of a game and kudos to the crowd that made our game must watch tv!
