Too Soon UL Game Thread?

I could just repeat all the great things everyone has said about how exciting this game is and how big it could be for the program, so I'll just skip to my prediction.

SK hits a three as time expires to give the Cats a one point win, 72-71. Yeah yeah, I know, pretty out there, but I'm going out on a limb and think it can happen. If it does, I think he'd be right behind McDermott for POY, and a shoe-in for first-team AA.

Our defense caught them off guard the first time. That won't happen Saturday. I think they took us for granted and got punched in the mouth on their home floor. They will be amped looking for revenge. Saturday will be an all-out brawl. I hope we get good refs for this one. I would say it would be nice to get some home-cooking, but we really just need the refs to call fouls when they get to holding and grabbing. If that happens then hopefully we can limit our turnovers. Guyn needs to play under control and I wouldn't be surprised to see Rubles bring the ball up a lot again. He has done this the last two times against Louisville. I think if Caupain brings the ball up we could be in trouble, he just isn't ready for Louisville's pressure.

Our defense, while they will be ready for it this time, is still good and should be able to limit them from going nuts as long as they are not in transition the whole game. If they do get in a spurt (Louisville) I hope this time Mick calls a timeout to stop their run/runs. A win and we all but clinch the regular season title, which is my #1 goal this year. It will be tough. I don't expect to hold them to 20 again in the first half or scoreless the last five minutes. The crowd will be amped. I really hope the students give it to Smith and Harrell the whole game. I'd love to see chants of "flop" or flopper" for Smith and chants for Harrell too. I can't wait to see the Shoe rocking on Saturday. One other note, I can't wait to cheer on SK when he gets to 2,000. Hopefully I'm not jinxing him and he gets at least 10.

Louisville's impressive performance on the road against UConn is why I picked them to win this game. They probably play better on the road...

We are playing a noon game on Saturday on CBS with the chance to catapult ourselves into the top 5. The top F$#%ING 5!!! Im so pumped for this game. If you are a college basketball fan this is all you can ask for in the scope of the regular season. Cherish this time fellas it's unique. It's been such a special season. So excited to see how far we can go.

I'm pumped too, but other than #1 Cuse, no one ahead of us has lost this week. I think we should most certainly leap SDST if we win, but it wouldn't make sense to leap anyone else.

Well, then again, the Cuse/Duke game will be interesting. If Duke loses, I think we'll leap them. What happens if Cuse loses their 2nd game this week? Do we leap them? From a resume standpoint, I don't think we should, but a lot of voters might think they're not as good as we thought. Will be interesting.

I think we all know this one could go either way. There are so many variables which can help or hurt our cause as well as UL. Turnovers, rebounding, shooting, focus, energy, composure, coaching, fouls, refs, toughness, leadership, FT's...and the list goes on and on and on.

A quick start for us would be optimal. I wouldn't mind seeing a set play...like a timing play to start the game. JJ and Rubles start down low and then both come off the blocks at the same time drawing their defenders...then Thomas makes a lightning quick move off a pick to the bucket for pre-planned and pre-timed alley-oop. Something like that anyway.

Cronin has preached "toughness" all year. Barring out of the ordinary stats by either team...we have to be up to the challenge.

There are also so many motivators as if we need so many in a game against UL. The players have been talking about protecting home court all year...that streak will be on the line. We have a top 10 rank possibly on the line, a conference championship likely hanging on this game, tournament seeding, bragging rights, national media attention, recruits watching, seniors careers coming to an end, fence sitting fans to fill the arena.

We need to come out and treat this team like SMU treated us. I know the circumstances are much different...just sayin.

Correct me if im wrong, but i believe our last Saturday game at noon was against memphis, expecting similar results!! With the crowd behind us sk, jj, and rubles lead us to victory. would love nothin more than the first play jackson to dunk right over harrell. Also patino you will have a clean shaved face come saterday night.

For his sake he needs to lose so he can shave that poor excuse for whiskers. He looks like a complete schmuck.

UC has 4 games left and 3 against top 5 AAC teams...2 at home

UL has 5 games left with 4 against top 5...only 1 at home

SMU has 4 games left with 3...1 at home

Uconn has 6 games left with 3...2 at home

UM has 6 games left with 3....2 at home

How much does a Saturday win mean???

Keep hearing how amped Louisville will be but the fact is, if you listen to the Bearcat players, they are equally as amped. I don't think these teams like each other and I don't think UL respects UC and the players know it.

My guess is the league says let them play to the refs. This will be a war/brawl. UC will come out Jacked I gaurantee it. Last game turned on a bad call costing UC all its momentum. This team feels it can beat the Cardinals and I think they will again but it will be tighter throughout. Definitely don't the Bearcats turn it over 19 Saturday. If they do they will not win this time.

Honestly its bigger than huge. Obviously there are remaining games after Saturday but I think the winner of Saturday will win the American this year.

Sometimes it all comes down to this. Which team is the most confident that they are the better team. I have watched JJ all season and his confidence is through the roof. SK is obviously a gamer. TR is going to paly his game and get his all around stats.

I need to know about ST, GG, JS, TC, JL, and KJ. Can they play with confidence and poise. Of these I am the least worried about JS. I liked what I saw out of the rest of them yesterday...but Saturday will be a COMPLETELY different environment.

Controlled Aggression is what we need on Saturday.

Now that I think about it...I am going to put Sanders in as my difference maker for the UL game. That kid does not get all jittery in big games. He doesn't get too excited OR dejected. He doesn't get picked much or make bad passes either...heck I wouldn't mind seeing him bring the ball up the court if we need him to.

I think we have 4 guys that can surely handle the pressure of this big of a game. Who among the other 5 are going to step up?

Please, come to the rest of our games this year, yesterday was fantastic! It is nice to blow someone out for once!

Haha...thanks...if I had the money and the time I would fly up for every damn game. I am going to have to depend on the locals now:) And just like our team is confident in the other team members to pull a game out...I am confident our 6th man fans will do their part.

Hell the fans on this board alone could will our team to victory.

That would be awesome to have a section of seating at 5/3rd for the members here. Could you even imagine?! I am smiling hard just thinking of how entertaining that would be.
