Torian Graham 2014 JUCO SG

I think it will be a scorer-by-committee approach as well. I would like to see something like this from our starters:

Caupain - 10 pts, 4 ast
Johnson - 12 pts
Thomas - 12 pts, 5 reb
Lawrence - 10 pts, 6 reb
DeBerry - 8 pts, 6 reb

And what from the bench?I would be happy with what you project and 13-18 from bench. That would put us in the 65-70 point range - IF the defense is as proficient as last year, that would win a lot of games. BUT....I don't really see the D being that good after losing the 3 seniors, so the offense better score like 70-75/game

Have things cooled off with him as far as pending commitment? Are they waiting on other possible transfers?

My guess is he is waiting for the season to end and possibly for Kentucky to get involved. Considering how crazy his HS recruitment was (he committed to NC State, then de-committed, then committed again), I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't sign on the first day which is April 16th.

Cronin over hypes players often. So it may be what he hopes for, but not an actual reality. IMO I don't think Cronin has much of a clue with who leads the team in scoring next year. Although I think the safe bet would be Thomas. Ideally there would be 4-5 guys next year averaging 9+ ppg.

Agree, I was just pointing out what he said. At this point I don't see him being the leading scorer. Right now I'd expect it to be Shaq or Caupain. If it's Lawrence, I hope that is a good sign rather than a bad sign.

I really hope that we get Graham, I think he could make a big difference the next two years...

I don't get the feeling that he is that interested in UC and I have felt this way for a while

To my knowledge he has never come out and said that he is interested in UC

He hasn't visited or set up a visit or even publicly stated that he wants to visit UC

Has he even mentioned anything about UC, UC coaches or playing style on twitter/interviews?

All we really know is that Prez Ono followed him then unfollowed him on twitter, whatever that means.

Both sides seem very quiet at this time so you never know, just my gut that he is waiting on something better. Please someone prove me wrong

The lead 247 analyst has "crystal balled" him to Cincinnati. There is definitely interest between the two sides. I get the typical Cincinnati pessimistic attitude but no need to get ridiculous. Now, will he end up here? That is to be seen, but he is considered a "lean" to UC at this very moment. I think this will play out much like Obekpa's recruitment where he'll seem to be a UC lean forever without committing. He must be waiting for other things.

Like I mentioned earlier, he had a crazy highschool recruitment where he committed to NC State and then re-opened his recruitment only to re-commit to NC State again. Maybe he doesn't want to make it as messy this time.

Multiple recruiting sources have said he has interest in Cincinnati since December and four 247 analysts think he is going to UC. He very well may not come here, such is recruiting, but he is definitely interested.

he has a lot of interest in uc. that is not to say he ends up a bearcat, but i can assure you he has a whole lot of interest.

I am not a Cinti pessimist, I am just wondering where people are coming up with that he is a UC lean. Was this written somewhere, an interview from an analyst? He himself has said nothing publicly at all to indicate that he is a UC lean nor has he even visited campus.

I think that people in general place way to much emphasis on this crystal ball thing, it is just a marketing gimmick, an educated guess. These are the same guys that said 10-0 he was going to Mizzou, now a few are saying Cinti, next week possibly a Kentucky crystal ball peppered in also. When an analyst changes his crystal ball prediction don't they have to support that with some information?

Also, with Antigua going to USF, there is a definite possibility if UK doesn't offer he will have interest in Graham.

Hopefully we will all find out in 10 days.

He has retweeted a bunch of UC fans and general UC tweets the past month or so--more than any other school that's been recruiting him. Think that's where he's publicly showing interest. Plus, Mick's brother seemed pretty confident about it on Twitter, reminiscent of when he was tweeting about Lawrence before his commitment.

Don't really see this as a direct similarity to what happened with Obekpa. Obekpa's recruitment seemed to get extra dicey towards the end (when Mick reportedly pulled out according to Rothstein). Even though Coach Cal and UK have that reputation when it comes to recruiting, I'm not sure they would necessarily need to use those tactics with Graham (unless they lost a lot of ground by making Graham feel like a backup option--but, they were still his initial top school earlier this season, so wouldn't be surprised if he'd "forgive" them easily if they offer, even without extra incentives).

Well, hopefully now that the season is officially over, we'll hear about which UK guys are going pro and we can finally wrap this thing up.

What am I missing?

After seeing all the hype and drooling about this kid, I decided to look at his stats at his Juco school, Chipola. Gotta say I was vastly underwhelmed. Apparently he doesn't even start, scores around 12.9/game with few rebounds, steals etc. What's with all the hyperbole? His stats are not that impressive, although his shooting percentage is good. I thought he must be a 20 pt/game scorer or something. Given that most players underperform as compared to their Juco stats, what's the big deal?

I looked at the box scores for all the games in February & March - he often didn't score in double figures. Why are we so excited about this dude? Someone enlighten me, please...I must be unaware of something.
