I can’t imagine shooting much worse so we have that going for us

But seriously.... I think the kid shot like 40% his SR year from 3 and cleaned up his FTs too. Against good competition. Looking for some bright spots obviously

Eason, Dou. Mikey combined for 24 minutes. 8 minutes each. I don’t draw many conclusions from Mikey but Eason and Dou aren’t feeling good. Are we seeing a plan forming?

If we can win 3 out of 4 of the last games and at least a game in the conference tournament, I think it would build some hope for the players, fan base, and the program as a whole. Very important couple of weeks coming up

Eason has been in foul trouble for 6 straight games. He can’t get in to any flow. I still would bet he will be gone.

Dou is just out there. He doesn’t really do anything. Yeah, he defense is fine sometimes, get a block every once in a while but he doesn’t do much more. He should leave. Would be better for both parties. He could go to a Lower level school and play.

Mikey will be fine. He’s learning. We are too quick to judge these guys. Reminds me of a Galen Robinson from Houston, type of player. He will get better each year and be solid by the time he’s a senior.

I like your optimism but as optimistic as am I don’t see it now. I like some things I saw today. But only some. It’s gonna take a half a miracle to get into top 25 let alone top 15

Yeah, I’d be happy with top 50-60 next year. If we get gabe back, that would be another shooter. It would help but we still need a lot more.

This reminded me of some of those really bad Bengals games, where both times do their best to lose. We couldn't hit a FT to save our life and Eason came in and gifted them some points. But Tulsa countered with their #11 who's only offensive ability seemed to be to turn the ball over, plus they had horrible TO at the end. Another one of those games where is better to win, but it wasn't pretty.

Dou played well in his 8 minutes. 0 TO's, 0 fouls and his one shot was actually a good decision (playing two-for-one at the end of the half, those tbh I'm not sure that went through his mind). But again, not second half minutes.

Eason was a disaster, he seems to be getting worse. He has been a foul and TO machine lately. He had multiple inbounds passes stolen, which is a sign of not paying attention.

I was impressed by getting down 12 early and not folding. We easily could have, but we turned it around and fought.

I'm not sure how this was a sign of great things next year though. Keith took over the game and was by far our best player, it may have been his most complete game of the season. Other guys did some things, but none of them were too impressive.

If Eason would just rely on his athletic ability alone, he would probably average 10pts and 10rebs a game.

He's 5'10 this season mentally on the court. We need some juco or portal transfer practice bruisers to bring the best out of him.

He has all that god given ability, and obviously the coaching staff doesn't have what it takes to unlock him.

Practicing against Vogt and Dou, improves nothing for him.

But hell, I will take the win.

If he just didn’t foul he’d be one of our best players. He’s been in foul trouble in 80% of our games this year. And most of them have been avoidable

On the contrary, when Keith DIDN'T get into foul trouble last night, it showed the full impact he can have on a game with 35 minutes of action.

Dude fouls every single possession... Looks lost most the time... And trys to do way to much.

People can be mad about his minutes... But he is no where near close to being great. There is potential there tho...

It was definitely one of Keith's best games this year, which helped us win. I was happy to see 6 assists. Still, I think the best part of the game is when he was out and DeJulius & Mason were running motion together.

It would have been an efficient game for Keith except that he was 0-7 from midrange. Those are the kinds of shots you have to take when the ball is in one player's hands all the time.

And they aren't always at the end of the shot clock with nothing else to do. He takes a fair amount of them early in a possession for no reason.

But if we cut out the houston game, that would be 2 games in a row where Keith's passing is the best its ever been. He's definitely listening to some instruction and its making him a better player. His assist rate is up to 19 in conference and thats basically double his career number.

DeJulius should never shoot a 3 ever again. Vogt sucks but he had a couple nice blocks and big rebounds, dude cannot rotate on defense to save his life. Keith is never going to be a star but he is what we have right now so it is what it is, him missing those 2 free throws down the stretch sums it up, then barrels over the defender for a blatant charge call at the end of the game. That boy Mason can shoot, give me 5 Jerimiah Davenports, makes some mistakes but man does he play hard and he really love playing for Cincinnati. Dou sucks and he can transfer, Tari cant seem to get out of his own way, he's so anxious when he's in and commits so very stupid fouls, who knows if he will be around next year. MAW and Saunders will most likely always be average players.

Agreed. Ideally I would like him to play like that all the time but with a usage rate in the 20-25 range like he did his first 3 years (instead of last night's 38) so he's participating in a fluid offense. Simply eliminating a lot of midrange shots would help.

If Keith had the IQ of Jarron he’d be drafted.

I noticed a lot less frustration fouls from Keith last night though. He usually follows up a bad offensive play with a over aggressive frustration foul on the rebound. He tries to make up for his mistake too quickly and ultimately ends up hurting his team.

I think Mason needs to play when teams zone us. He hasn’t really shown on other teams scouting reports yet and while I’ve yet to see him create his own 3 point shot, I think he can be good on the catch and shoot if DJD gets the zone moving.

But back to Keith. People talk about getting into a flow state when playing drums, when your just grooving and no longer thinking, you’ve worked on your technique so much that’s it’s now just about flowing. Same is said about UFC fighters. I think Keith Williams was in his flow state last night. He just trusted his instincts and made more flow plays and did a whole let less thinking.

The exception was that last charge on him. But I was disappointed with the play call more than the play.

Keith has received a tough whistle all year.. You almost wonder if the midrange shot is his way of avoiding foul trouble. But man, he draws 6 per 40 min. If he drops the mid range and continues to attack the rim, he could expand that even further
