They had nothing going. Props to LD for trusting our game plan. It held up for sure and we did what we needed to do. The 3 guards all made big shots for us throughout the game. Great win. So happy for the guys!

Tulsa was giving up just 93.3 points per 100 possessions (UC was 105.7 tonight), they were scoring at 102.8 PPP on the season and tonight they were 88.3 PPP.

Way back on the first page of this thread, I said it would be really nice to see Cobb have one of those games where he goes off. He is due. And......he did! Great win. Very proud of these guys gutting out these tough road wins that they had to have. Still have to take care of important business at home on Sunday. This is an unpredictable group. They could be a first round out, or maybe a sweet 16 team. Nothing would surprise me with this group.

Defense is the name of the game. Bill Koch said that Tulsa is 17-0 when holding a team under 65 points. Guess they didn't know about our epic streak. Boo ya!!

We're starting to have the confidence to get the tough baskets. Clark on the repost, Cobb on the 3, Caupain had a nice finish at the basket. This team EXPECTED to finish off the road win. Earlier in the year we were playing not to lose down the stretch.

I remember a lot of people (me included) were kind of puzzled by the Cobb signing last May. He has been the key contributor in probably our 4 best wins of the season (San Diego State, SMU, @SMU and Tulsa).

The kid is a gamer. No doubt. Savino could see it in him.

I'm thinking that Frank Haith will never beat UC.

I feel bad for Tulsa fans. They are going to be pretty good next year with everyone back probably even make the tournament. Unfortunately they have 8 juniors including Ray, Harrison and Woodard that will all be gone after next year.

Every time Ellis gets the ball and doesn't shoot right away I think he is gonna travel. I'm not sure how he does it. Love everything else about his game though.

+/- tonight

Cobb +12
Ellis +12
Shaq +12
Clark +5
Caupain +4
Sanders +0
KJ -1
DeBerry -3

Anyone have it on the season?

In the last 8 games, Sanders has 8 total points, and 2 different stretches with 1 point over 3 games.

Shaq now has 5 games this year with 0 points.

Cobb has 14 games with 2 or more 3s.

Clark has 16 games with 15 or more Points+Rebounds.

Caupain has 5 games with 0 TO. He has played 161 minutes in those games.

Ellis is averaging 13.7 pts 10.3 rebs last 3 games.

KJ is averaging 10.8 ppg during our 4 game winning streak. He averages 2.7 ppg in our losses this year.

And we also officially finished with a winning conference road record (5-4).

i was about to post that even though shaq didn't have any points o feel like almost all of them we got an offensive rebound on. I still like shaq in the game way more than sanders. Sanders is slumping bad he needs to get back in attack mode.

Really would like to know what LD said to them at half time. After having them kill us on offensive glass in 1st half we completely turned the tables on them in 2nd. Ellis was huge on the glass.

In a year of ups and downs from our back court it has been a real treat to see our bigs be so consistent. Clark has been there every night and has a big future. Ellis while he can make me scream at TV from time to time has been there as well. After going what seems like years without a post game these two have really stepped up..

I betting he told them they were getting killed on the offensive glass and it needed to stop :)

I hope our free throw shooting % gets better soon. Past few games I feel we have been around 50%. We are leaving a lot of points out there. Luckily Tulsa left more.

I agree...We need to be able to close out games down the stretch at the foul line. We definitely struggled last night. Even our guards missed their foul shots in the final minute, that can't happen. Hopefully that can be improved upon. It seems like we were killing the foul shots in the middle of the season, as of late, not so much.

Last 8 games - under 60% except for Houston (.773) Coincidentally, during the best stretch, from SD State (12/17/14) through SMU, (2/5/15) only once were the Cats below 65% (East Carolina, and we know how that went) - hit 80% or better in 3 games (SDS, 1st SMU & 1st Houston). Just need more games against Houston :)

Ellis has been playing very good lately, he is a very touchy player who seems like he is ready to snap any moment. I just hope he can continue to maintain a level head and not do anything stupid.

The good news is, they haven't hit their ceiling yet. Plenty of places to improve. Blocking out in the zone. Making quicker decisions in the post and on ball reversals. Obviously free throw shooting. Sharper cuts to the hoop (thinking of the one where Clark tried to pass to a cutting Shaq, who was beaten to the ball).

They are doing a lot of nice things. At first I was pretty irate that LD wasn't transitioning out of that zone given the deluge of offensive rebounds, but at the same time their guards were struggling to get into the lane or really finding any kind of rhythm, and I'm thinking "we'll take that tradeoff". They had 12 offensive rebounds in the 1st half and scored 20 pts.

Sanders...ugh. He's a severe liability on offense right now. Twice UC ran nice stuff and found him for wide open 3s and he missed both. Now, defenses can afford to gamble off him or just ignore him completely. It's like playing 5 on 4.

Love the midrange game from Cobb and KJ. Little pump fake, couple dribbles inside the arc, wide open shot. And have you noticed how successful they've been recently hitting 3s off of offensive rebounds? Good job by Ellis and Clark of recognizing the open shooter after grabbing a board.

Congrats to the guys for working hard and staying positive and resilient. Proud of how hard they're playing.

@JonRothstein
Where would Cincinnati be without Farad Cobb? Averaging 15.0 PPG in Bearcats' wins over Tulsa, NC State, San Diego State, and SMU (2X).
