I think Cronin is seeing how hard Justin Jenifer is playing and he knows players listen to his comments. If flat out praises Cane and gives Cane the starting spot before even a game is played, then its pretty defeating to Jenifer.

I personally think Jenifer can be the kind of PG this particular team needs. He is a guy who doesn't need to take shots and He wont need to with our 4 other starters. I mean for all we know chemistry might be better with Jenifer running the show not Cane. Cronin is making this an open competition and its exactly what a good coach would do and say. I mean think about it how hard Jenifer has worked. The dude was asked to cut down on his TO and then following year he goes out and puts up a 4 to 1 TO ratio. Competition is good. And while I think Cane will be just fine, the reality is that we don't know how he is going to handle playing in front 9k people every night and having a capable guy like Jenifer to back him up is huge. Its a win win IMO

Mick has said already this year that there is no set lineup and the guys he starts will be situational. I think that basically means the PG and C spot are fluid.

I think the only spots that aren't "fluid" are Gary's and Jacob's...because they will basically always be doing what they are supposed to. The rest of them will have to prove they can do that. The rest of them will have to prove they will minimize mistakes and not take plays off etc. If Kyle, Cumberland, and Cane can do this...there would be no reason to mess with the lineup.

The only 2 other guys to get a start last year was Tobler on Sr night and Quadri one time. But then again Troy and KJ were 4 year vets...they knew what not to do. Gary and Jacob are always doing things right. I think Washington got benched once for not rebounding.

I think this year we have better options behind Kyle if he slips up Cronin won't be afraid to use Brooks. Cane is going to probably have a couple growing pains and Jenifer was rock solid last year with taking care of the ball. I think Cumberland always has his head in the game...I could maybe see him getting winded and taking a play off here or there but I don't worry much about him.

Guess we'll just have to wait for details. I have a hard time believing it's anything too bad. I'd be more afraid of Cronin than jail tbh.

Sorry this is my bad...

Let's keep this as the thread for video/press conference type stuff. Obviously nothing wrong with responses to those videos, but we'll leave it at that.

I feel comfortable with Jenifer at the point, esp. if the improvement that Coach refers to pans out. The one area that makes me nervous about JJ is his abysmal FT shooting. 50% in unacceptable in a point guard....or anyone on the team for that matter (Scott) - Of course, JJ attempted only 14 FT, so that may be an anomaly...or maybe he needs to get to the line more often
Cane averaged better than 76% in his 2 years, so that could give him an advantage.
Other than that, JJ shot better than Caupain from 3 pt.so there's no drop-off there....Troy hit the boards well....JJ not so much...size factor there - Broome averaged 4.4 boards last year, but against smaller players overall...still, looks like he had more will in that dept.
Can't wait to see both in scrimmage today as well as the rest of the Cats!
