We could go 0-4, but most likely won't. We haven't had a 5 game losing streak in recent memory and I doubt we will now. Micks teams always do well when their backs are against the wall, so I'm pretty sure we'll win at least one.

to be honest, uc could very well go 0-4 in those games.

nothing i've seen makes me feel good for a w. at some point you have to put the ball in the basket. we can defend, rebound, till we're blue in the face. all that dirty work means very little when you struggle to shoot 50% on the line in your own gym. then when you jack 24 treys and only make 4.

they shoot in that gym everyday. those numbers are embarrassing.

I completely agree, and I'm wondering if they don't need to move all their practices into the Shoe instead of using their practice gym. We have no home-court advantage.

My thoughts on the game. The shooting is horrible and it is time to start focusing on executing shots in practice. I'm not one to criticize Mick too much and I also rarely will pick on his postgame comments as many like to, but his postgame comments were a joke. You can't blame the defense for last night's loss. The defense played well. No matter how well you execute on defense the other team is trying to execute on offense. A man will get beat here or there and the other team will make some shots. He acts like one blown assignment cost them the game. No you allowing your team the green light to shoot 24 threes when they clearly aren't hitting them is what cost you the game. And honestly I really do get his point when he says you can't control missing a shot but you can control missing an assignment. I agree that on offense if you get an open look it's somewhat luck if it goes in or not (although higher percentage shots sure increase your luck). This team plays great D and alot of the points they give up are in transition after a missed three and a long rebound. At the end of the day you have to put the ball in the basket. I really wonder how much of practices are spent worrying about defense rather than teaching the guys how to execute their shots. You have to square yourself to the hoop to have a good chance to make it. It's a recurring problem. And as each season wears on we worry more about defense. Don't get me wrong I love tough defense and love that he stresses it, but he makes way too many excuses for all the missed shots. I understand that you have good nights and bad nights, as evidenced by Tuesday being our best night from three all year and last night being one of our worst, but when you are not hitting shots you can't allow your team to keep shooting. 24 3's is ridiculous considering not only the foul trouble Georgetown was in but the fact that we were actually doing a good job of getting the ball to the hoop.

Agree with what you're saying David. Also we easily could have had 40+ free throws if our players would have drove to the basket in the final 3-4 min. They did a good job getting fouled the entire game and then when it came to reap the benefits of that, we completely stopped. It makes zero sense and left all of us scratching our heads. Instead they shot all 3's or turned it over. Its just craziness.

idk i think i would rather have our players jack threes than get fouled and go to the line. Watchng them shoot fts and miss makes me more sick than shooting bombs from 30 ft. Atleast they have a reason to miss all the 3s. U cant put an emphasis on taking ball to basket and getting fouled if u are coming up empty on the possession anyways.

Sure you can. If they would have gotten one more foul each on Porter, Lubick and Starks we would have owned the floor and gone on to win (quite possibly). It's not all about making 100%FT's, it's part of the overall "big picture".

I was only able to see the last 6min of the game so cannot comment too much

It sickens me to see how often we rely on the 3. Post player or not, there are too many ways to get the ball to the rim. Cash, Killa and Saunders on key possessions hoisted 3's. On the possession Cash shot his 3, Im not even sure the ball made it inside the 3pt line. These are things that are conserning, whether were in a slump or are still in good shape for the Tourny, this stuff has to be corrected

That is what kills me too. There are multiple trips the ball deosn't move beyond the perimeter, and neither do the guards.

Parker is the key to our success-he is the only one who can take it strong to the rim. Problem is, he can't shoot ft's. Sanders, Kilpatrick, and Shaq were all very talented scorers in high school, they should be able to take it to the tin. Problem is, it is a mindset issue with them. When Parker plays well, he just attacks the rim and acts as if no one can stop him. The rest of our guards are soft and only attack the rim in transition.

Kilpatrick could get to the rim he settles too much. I think Sanders should be used at the 3 and not the 2 but that's just me. Just don't think he has the overall athleticism a good 2 guard needs, unless he is a constant knock down shooter, which this team doesn't have.

I think Sanders could get down the lane more often than he does, he is somewhat athletic, but I agree that he is no SK or Parker. Like you said, we've all seen SK get down the lane, he has that ability, but he settles. I heard him say Mick told him to keep on shooting, even if he is struggling-that is not good advice. Easy 2s create better 3 point shots. If you are struggling from 3, why not try to take a higher percentage shot? Obviously, our bigs lack offensive skill. That does leave us vulnerable, but we can still overcome it if we stop settling for so many 3s. SK is so good at using his body as a shield and forcing his way down the lane-why is he so reluctant to use this skill? I know one thing for sure, SK will never make it in the NBA as a 3 point shooter alone. There are plenty of token white guys who can do the same thing and make a much higher percentage. Also, Shaq has demonstrated the ability to be a solid slasher, but I think he is still sort of timid. Sanders was the same way up until recently, and now he pulls the trigger for 3 a lot more. This is a major problem. We need more than the 3 amigos to contribute, and more people need to slash just every once in awhile, and I can guarantee we will score more because we will get easier shots and our 3s will be less contested.

SK's ball handling of late makes me wonder about his penetrating ability, but he still needs to attempt to go to the rim.

He may have the worst handles of any SG in a big conf. Didn't we hear all off-season how he worked on his handles non-stop and they were supposed to be good now? They may actually be worse than last year.

His other issue, and Parker has this same issue, is neither can drive to their left. If Parker ever tries it is guaranteed that he will eventually spin to his right. Although these two need to attack the rim more other teams know they can only go to their right....That is a big reason why they need to increase the tempo - it catches the defense off-guard and they can't focus on taking away their penetration.

Good point about the left side. Who was it that was worried about SK jumping ship to the NBA? Who would want him at this stage? I will say he's been doing a good job defensively, and he does have as quick a release on the 3 as I've seen.

Usf is almost as horrific as Ralph's conference realignment predictions. We will not lose to them.

We can beat uconn both times, nd has struggled as of late and we always play ul tough. I think we will win out in regular season

how about we make a bet? They lose any of the remaining regular season games and you stop posting (this includes all your various monikers). They win out we all have to say "Mick is the greatest coach ever" three times? Deal?

Still don't understand why they don't just ban him. The cougarlife.com ad at the bottom of the screen has more to offer than he does.

Straw mans argument from you. Uconn is mediocre, usf is horrible, we always play ul tough and nd is not playing nearly as well.

Mick is already a great coach I never said he was the greatest. That's another straw man argument

All scheids can Do is personally attack

So are we on for the bet?

He won't bet on them. I have tried that. Besides, if he stays off (including all of his other ids) the boards will be half empty. That is why the mods love him. Makes this board look more populated than it actually is. And Cronin is not a great coach. He is very mediocre. Knight was a great coach. Huggins is a great coach. Wooden was a great coach. To put Cronin in there is an utter joke and shows how full of bs you are Ralph.

Amberly, not trying to be argumentative but listing Huggins with Knight and Wooden is laughable. A more realistic statement would be Huggins was a very good Coach and Mick is trying to get to that level. Huggins isn't as good as the greats and Cronin is better than mediocre.
