Where the hell is Cash? Why aren't they even attempting to get it into his hands? I like Cronin but he needs to figure out a better scheme to beat pressure. His teams have always sucked at it.

This is an absolutely horrible display of refereeing. You can't call more fouls than there are minutes in a game and expect either offense to find a rhythym. Our offense sucked simply because Kilpatrick was cold, Cash was cold and our bigs were on the bench which let the defense hang around the perimeter. We will struggle when Modj gets in foul trouble and more so when he and Nyarsuk are in foul trouble.

Impressed by the team's resiliency. Some people on these boards were losing their minds.

Mick Cronin showed up in the last 3 minutes.

Based solely on tonight's game (mainly when the going got rough), this would be my 5 starters next game:
Wright (Alive when we needed him)
Kilpatrick/Sanders (Sanders impressed me tonight with rebounding, spacing and shooting)
Parker (Only player who didn't fade completely during the rough patch)
Rubles (Reason we won "game two" of tonight's double header)
Nyarsuk (Hard to give Mbodj the edj when he didn't play much late)

47 fouls and 56 free throws taken in this game. Congrats refs.

Man it felt bad watching all those calls but I didnt know there was that many, just terrible!! Glad we pulled through and Rubles went on a nice 10 point run to pull away. Sanders really has emerged through this team and I hope he brings that with him to the bama game. I liked what I saw out of Shaq too, I can't wait til he gets enough confidence to take his man to the hoop because he had some opportunities tonight but you could tell he just wanted to pass it off.

When refs blow the whistle, not only do they stop the game they get in players heads. The game got sloppy because players can't play the game naturally. They become hesitant and make extra mistakes. If we had better basketball IQ we would have put the ball on the floor and driven to the hoop on every possession. We would taken 80 foul shots. These refs called everything inside the arc. Thus why all the bigs were in foul trouble for both teams all game. I hate watching games like this. I will at least say they were equally bad on both sides. Oregon actually got whistled more than us once they had to foul down the stretch. 25-22. Rubles went on his run because he put the ball on the floor and Oregon had to either foul or back off of him not to foul. I'll take the win and move forward. Good showing out in Vegas. Two solid non-conference wins. Lets take it to Alabama next week.

I agree. And both ISU and Oregon are pretty good teams so to play just average and come out with two wins is impressive.

One last thought. I hope this is the last time this tournament takes place. Vegas fans didn't show up to the games not featuring their team and the consolation game didn't even get on TV. I got to hope if the game were here we could get more than 200 fans to show up a game featuring two good teams. All four teams in this tourney were solid and provided good exciting basketball.

My God, if I didn't watch the game and read this thread, I would have guessed we lost by 20. Yes, the game was ugly (large part due to the refs), but we just beat another solid opponent and showed some grit late in the game. Remember, Mick's teams always peak in February/March, not November/December. Some observations:

- Jackson is simply trying to do too much on offense. Since he's technically a "guard" in this offense, he's trying to make more plays, thus leading to turnovers. Once he gets more comfortable, he will be fine, at least hopefully.

- Refs were absolutely terrible. They allowed contact on the perimeter (reaches and blocks/hedging), but once someone got to the hoop it was an automatic foul. Just some terrible calls on Cheikh and Nyarsuk.

- It was great to see someone else step up late in the game. Titus absolutely took over. He's tough to figure out cause his three point attempts are terrible, but just inside the line his shot is great. He's got a lot of confidence and he's only going to get better.

- Sanders played really well. You can tell he's starting to come around. Knocking down shots with confidence and providing solid defense. Him getting meaningful minutes late in the game will help him a lot.

Man those refs wanted to play a big part in that game, ticky tack fouls all night long.

Was really happy with Sanders tonight, kid is not flashy but is solid! Earlier in the season I didnt want him getting many minutes but tonight he really showed his worth. Great calming presence at times out there on the court. Guyn on the other hand...lets just say Cash better not get hurt anymore because were in some trouble if he is getting any more than 15 min a game right now.

Someone find where the refs live and put firey crosses in their yards. They single handedly, kept Oregon in the game. It's absurd that Kilpatrick can get hit in the face and nothing is called but if Cheikh or Nyarsuk breathe near and Oregon player it's a foul. Seriously, fuck you Higgins!
I'm glad Cashmere Wright is okay. We missed a lot of easy points in the first half. Luckily, we were hot from 3. Thomas showing improvement, he needs some more strength, he wasn't afraid to bang but he started to tip over going for rebounds lol Good game from him though, not knocking the kid at all.
Rubles, Sanders, Wright and Parker earned their stripes. SK started to have problems but I'll chock it up as fatigue and frustration. We play defense like we did in the first half and not get placed in the same venue with those refs again, we'll be fine.

Glad we leave Vegas with two good wins.

I will give credit to Mick and the players for pulling this one out. But please develope some kind of offense other than dribbling around the 3pt line. He spoke of a transition game in the off season...lets see it. We have guards galore

This team spreads the floor and drives and dishes. That is the offense. We have no inside game because we have no one who can score with their back to the basket. Your personell have to match your scheme. We will try to score off our Defense in transition and rebound the basketball. The team can not be something they are not. They are undefeated and will get better as the season goes on. Thomas, Sanders and Rubles will all be better players by the end of the year. Enjoy the season Mick Knows his team.
