UC vs Oregon

We didn't play a perfect game. Its early. Were we careless with the ball and certainly have room to improve. Because i choose to evaluate their performance different than you does not make me complacent. We have good talent and are developing. Your assumtions 6 games into the season are comical. If there is a problem with our fan base its maybe that they think they know the game better than they do. The other problem with them is they don't buy tickets and attend games.

Im assuming you would put yourself in this catagory as well with all this fairy tail explaining. Be a realist

Lets see. I'm not at practice everyday, haven't followed and recruited the players on the roster and am not paid to coach. Yes I put myself in that catagory same as you. My big contribution is buying tickets and cheering them on. I think out of the two of us I'm a little more realistic than you. Oh and 6-0 is not a fairy tale team plays hard and is far from a finished product. As I said get a grip.

Haha 6-0 against the CYO. Its going to catch up to us and Id hate to say it

At the very end of the postgame interview after the Oregon game last night Mick said something to the effect of, "We play in the toughest basketball conference, at least right now." Then Chuck added, "That may change on Monday." And then they both sort of chuckled. Don't know if anyone else heard, just thought it hammers home all of the rumors floating around that we are headed to the ACC.

it did last year when we lost to marshall and Presbyterian and we still went to sweet 16! stop complaining

Ha...

It's November! and we just beat two quality opponents, within the top 100 RPI.
Let's just all relax. I think part of the problem last night was that the refs wouldn't allow for any rhythm. The amount of fouls called was ridiculous and yet, they allowed Oregon to go hack-a-Shaq on us.
You're going to have tough nights, all games can't be pretty. We out-rebounded them. We're rebounding far better than we did last year. We have more scoring than we did last year and there's no reason to believe this team can't do more than last season's. Some people will just bitch to bitch.

Did you watch the game? 90% of the points scored in the first half were "that transition game" Mick spoke of. Credit to Oregon in the second half, they took care of the ball and the Bearcats took some horrible shots.

Overall a solid two wins from the Bearcats. I'm really encouraged they fought back last night.

Also, it's hard to have a transition game when the refs are sending the opponent to the FT line nearly every possession.

This has what to do with dribbling the ball around the 3pt line....

The only problem with Cincinnati Fans is we are too complacent.

I love it, we are to fair weather, we are too complacent, we suck as fans. This board does a great job of building a fan base

Didn't get to see the game. I really wish I hadn't just read this entire thread. I saw the score this morning thinking, hey, solid win against a solid team. Apparently very few people also thought that. I've decided I'm chalking a lot of the posts last night to alcohol. The way people were talking I was having flashbacks to our 11-19 season in 2006. Calm the frick down people. There's NO way it was that bad. If we supposedly looked so putrid, and won by 11 against a solid Oregon team, I'm thinking people's expectations are a little TOO high. Don't get me wrong, I don't think a Final 4 run is completely out of the question. That said, I'm afraid how this board is going to react whenever we get our first loss. "Throw in the towel everyone, this season's over. Fire Mick!" Crazy.

The end of the half was rough and so were the first 10-12 minutes of the 2nd half, but it's the 6th game of the season. I liked Mick's attitude coming into this tournament. He said if we go 2-0 we aren't great and if we go 0-2 we aren't terrible. It's November. What has me encouraged is that I don't think we played well at all offensively, especially Parker, and we still averaged 77.5 points a game in Vegas. Last year it seemed like we had to play damn near perfect just to get to 70 points.

I agree with your last few statements. The fact that we still got in the 70's is impressive especially the Oregon game because they went straight up cold. This just shows how much improvement we have because we could have easily had 90 and I think that is where fan's frustrations came from.

Your first paragraph was right the second dead wrong. Up till August when my I had to have major surgery I travelled extensivey.

The proof of a fan base in in attendance. Xavier draws 9-10k nighty regardless. UK sells out every game regardless of opponent. Louisville is among the leaders in attendance every season. Talking facts isn't bashing a fan base it's simply truth. UC fans do not support this program. 52 wins in two seasons. I know going into the NCAA last season they beat more ranked teams than any other team in the nation. Maybe the Alabama game will sell out but to draw 5,500 a night and have a top 25 program is not fan support. Those same teams go to Cintas and there's 9,000-10,000 in blue and white with signs cheering them on.

This from ESPN, maybe some in our fan base can learn from the last two sentences:

What it means for Cincinnati: The Bearcats have yet to knock off a truly elite opponent, but that's about the only negative thing you could say about their start to the season thus far. Cincinnati has handled its business, and looked good doing so. If this form keeps up, the Bearcats can push the best of the Big East for the title. They're looking every bit as solid as expected.

Not to mention our football program drawing a wopping 21,000 yesterday for the senior's last game. With all the conference realignment, the fact that Nippert is so difficult to sell out is the most troublesome item in my opinion. I mean honestly, why should the ACC or the Big 12 want us compared to UCONN or Louisville?

Yeah, but you have to build up the program first, all of the programs you mentioned above have had continued success for at least 3-4 years. We have just hit that 3-4 year mark, good attendance is coming as we continue to get more consistent. The rest of our non-conference will be sold out/close to sold out. Football is almost over/will slow down, we will get more fans. UK and Xavier don't have to support good football teams, we do. At XU and UK, all they care about is basketball. Plus, we have played no one good at home yet. This is the year attendance will get closer to where it needs to be.

And there's the clueless who tell you attendance doesn't effect anything.

Ill go one better...

Attendance at football games is worthless... UC is basketball school. The school should focus on what we are. We have never been nor will ever be a football school.

All the funding should be dumped into the shoe rennovations and other basketball marketing opportunities.

Every Bearcat fan I know does not like the Shoe. Seating in the upper third is Brutal. So unless your willing to drop the big bucks for a UCats membership you are left with bench seats. Go to a UD game and experience that facility. I go to the games just for the experience, I don't even like UD. Our program has more history and a bigger fan base, yet we have sub-par facilities.

Jeff, I am a longtime fan and try to take in all the games. I live in west Chester and it is realy a easy drive down 71. Parking and leaving after the game is easy but I have to say. There are times when I will stay home because the seating is terrible. If your not in the lower section it is horrible. They really need to improve the facility. X and Dayton both have much better homes than UC.

Basketball has no benefit to the university, we need football.
I'm a basketball fan before anything else, but monetarily, it's in our best interest to be football first. Football will get basketball an even bigger budget. We make way more money from a packed house at Nippert than we do a packed shoe. That's just reality...
If we're being forward thinking, how can we ensure football continues to be AQ, since that's where the TV contracts come in and at the same time, us not killing all the other sports and fan interests, with travel. I really hope we go to the ACC.
