UC vs Providence pregame thoughts/scores

This is tough one to predict. Providence has had some bad losses (Brown & DePaul) but hung tough with Syracuse and Pitt (losses) and beat Nova twice. Looking at their stats they go about 10 players deep. I'm going with the Cats 68-60.

I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere but the Enquirer quotes Cronin as saying that Davis will be redshirted.

Providence has shown that they rise to the occasion when good teams come to town. They led Syracuse by 3 at the half, they made it a one-possession game with under a minute left against Pitt, and they took UConn to OT. All were losses, but they are more than capable of pulling off the upset if we go through an extended offensive dry spell.

As Florida showed last night anything can happen on the road in conference play.

I agree this is no gimme win for UC. Providence's athleticism gives them a chance to win any given night. They have a handful of close losses so hopefully UC can make the plays when they count. Play actual basketball and don't get involved in a run and shoot game. I don't think UC loses tonight, but this game has the feeling of being a trap game. In the end UC's defense is too much for Providence.

And I don't look forward to looking at Ed Cooley's head all game.

providence is a pretty good orebounding team. They also aren't near as bad on defense as previous years. Weirdly they had a game recently when they rebounded 60% of their misses vs uconn, which is absurd. Even crazier they still lost the game. I expect a close game that hopefully UC can pull out in the last 4 minutes
