Very active defensively. Nova with 19 turnovers. Actually more 2-point attempts tonight, which wasn't necessarily a good thing (9-28, 32%). It was nice to see them play inside/out more often though. Rebounding effort was very poor. Overall, I thought we played a little better. We were +27 from the 3-point line, but a lot of those came on kick out passes to open shooters.

Kick outs because we drove and collapsed the defense? Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to understand the win is all.

Cash's offensive woes continue. I believe he was like 3-14 from the floor or something like that. With him hurting we need A) more role players to step up offensively B) Parker stop shooting ft's like a student during a halftime competition

Parker is a senior. Free throws are one thing that isn't going to change. I have no clue how a Big East guard shoots 56% but that isn't going to improve diring the last 6 weeks of his career.

I know and I wish I could stop bi*ching about it bc I know its not going to change. I bet there are guys on this site that play ball still that can shoot 60% or better. I guess it just blows my mind that a d1 big east scholarship guard is a below 50% ft shooter. Okay I really will stop complaining about it...til Friday probably around 11 at night ;)

Yes, more so than they have been doing lately, especially on the 3's by Parker, Sanders, and Guyn. Also found a couple spot up shooters for 3's in transition. It was nice to finally see some of those open shots go down for a change.

Funny how Parker can knock down the 3's but struggle from the stripe.

I disagree here. Parker shot nearly 70% last year from the stripe. If I recall he was also even better in clutch moments.

Something psychological is in his head right now and that could change at any moment. Mick needs to switch up Parker's routine or something.

Great to see the team bounce back and SK shoot the ball confidently. I think Cash is creeping back although I wonder if he was limping a bit at the end of the game.

To me, we showed a bit more penetration tonight and looked more determined to push it where we could.

Re: Rubles...here is the problem. For the most part, he is not good offensively. Out of control, turns the ball over (3 last night in 25 minutes; Averages 1.8 TOs in 21.4 minutes per game), dumb decisions (a couple of which last night led to Villanova 3-pointers). But...we need him. He gets to the paint enough, grabs boards enough, makes his FTs and adds another element to this offense that we need him given no one can consistently score outside of JP, SK, CW. Rubles is a headache but unfortunately, given our offensive woes, we need him to keep attacking.

Parker...great game but 4-11 from FT...he must be in his head.

Minutes from Sanders and Guyn were huge. I do like that they will pull the trigger when they come in. We need guys to shoot confidently when they are open.

was at the game last night...it was a good win...i didnt realize how bad Villanova was this year...i cannot think of a player who has gotten as much playing time despite pathetic play than Rubles...Shaq only got 2 minutes...as the season goes on, Rubles is not getting better...a lot of people on these boards say he has handles?...if he is not dribbling right, he is trying to do his Allen Iverson impersonation and pull off a slow-ass crossover...he is 6'8" and he drives to the lane, within 3 feet of the hoop and he passes it out to the 3pt line...i continue not to see what Mick loves about this kid...for such an athletic big man, he has yet to show any athleticism...Sanders played almost 10 minutes less than Rubles last night and had the same amount of rebounds...when a shot goes up, Rubles drifts away from the basket to the 3pt line...there is no way he should get 25 minutes and Shaq only gets 2...

Guyn has really stepped up his game in the last few...still would like to see him look to drive/pass first before shooting...Sanders' shot is straight smooth...SK is dangerous when he is on, and it seemed to me like he was playing with more intensity/aggression, especially on the boards...Cash is hurting, obviously, and i wonder since Guyn is providing more, does Mick need to spell Cash some more...the "big men" were non-existent once again...in a total of 52 minutes combined, the "big" 4 pulled down a total of 4 rebounds (0 offensive)...Sanders had for 4 rebounds (2 offensive) in 17 minutes...Parker is killing himself mentally with FTs...kid is tough as nails though, and his play represents what we all love about UC basketball

things need to change...Shaq has to play more...he is the best slasher on the team...I agree with Jumpin Jack in that Rubles needs to play less or he needs to be the only "big" on the floor...Sanders needs to continue to get more minutes...it was a good win, but damn this team is frustrating to watch...i think UC might be the only team in the nation that starts trying to run the clock at the 7 minute mark...

Go Bearcats!

A number of their threes were from kickouts. Much more this game than usual. They also made a few threes that were quite frankly terrible shots. But I guess as long as they go in.

At this point I don't think you can have him in the game when you know the other team is going to be fouling. He wasn't even close on his misses last night. He is already prone to turning the ball over in crucial situations and being an atrocious FT shooter, I think going forward he should be removed from the game. Or at least pretend like he is a big man and avoid throwing the ball to him unless necessary.

I don't think he is horrible like others do and I see his potential, but right now, this team needs Sanders/Shaq.

Even when Titus doesn't score he adds value to the team. He is probably their best passer and he is a good defender and rebounder. He just needs to develop some confidence....Sanders was decent last game as he knocked down a couple open 3's. If that is all that is needed he is fine at that. He doesn't do much else. He almost airballed a FT. I can't understand how shooters are so bad at FT's.

I like Thomas. Every time he comes in he positively effects the game but for whatever reason he doesn't see much playing time. He is tough on defense because of his long arms.

@nparker: Rubles' game isn't to get the ball at the top of the key and take his man one on one. But that is the situation where Cronin puts him in. He is second on the team in assists. You can tell he lacks confidence right now but when he is playing well this team is at another level. Sanders doesn't really do much except stand around the perimeter and hope he gets an open shot. IMO he doesn't add anything else right now. Now if UC starts focusing on driving to the basket more and Sanders continues to knock down open shots he'll add more value...But I still think Rubles affects the game in so many ways that don't always show up on the stat sheet. Plus he is a good FT shooter.

I'd like to see Thomas get more minutes. Not so much Guyn. Every time he comes in he makes a stupid pass. He did it twice last night and was lucky they weren't turnovers.

Apparently Mick came out and admitted that Cash is playing with an injured shoulder that will need surgery after the season. I feel for Cash. Tough kid.

I think Rubles has everything he needs to do if he could just finish his shots. He rebounds and plays D. He penetrates and passes well for the most part. But his shot is awkward, and he rarely seems to finish.

I thought Mick gave some of the other guys a longer leash last night which I think resulted in a much looser team offensively. Guyn and Sanders had good moments.

Parker showed back up last night. I won't bring up the FT's - frustrating. Dude is better from the 3 point line. We need him.

I saw a much more active team on defense and offense last night. Hence the win.

Rubles cannot make a lay up...for the 1 in 4 times he actually shoots the ball when he gets to the paint, he misses...he cannot finish...why are people saying this is a strong part of his game...he plays he is 5'11"...like a lot of the others on this team, he has no basketball knowledge or awareness...i am glad the kid killed it last year in JUCO, but we are almost to mid-February and he has not progressed at all in my opinion...take that back...he is shooting less 3pt shots, thankfully

what was Rubles' game in JUCO?...what role does he need to play in at UC to be productive?...I dont think playing the 3/4 man position was part of Parker's game in high school, yet he adapted...if Rubles' is as good as a lot of people say he is, he should have adapted more by now...too bad Shaq is going to have to wait til next year to adapt...or the year after Rubles leaves...

He has probably the most basketball awareness on the team. He is the only player that drives to the lane with consistency. Yes he struggles to finish but he also creates a lot of easy baskets when he dishes off. He also leads the team in rebounds....I wish the team had a different offensive scheme where it would utilize his strengths but unfortunately this is all we got. I think Rubles has good post moves too but with this offense he doesn't get the ball on the block.

I agree he hasn't progressed but the team is still better with him on the court and they are going to live and die with him out there. He is going through a funk but not only do they need him come March, but they need him next year too.

Parker is a 3. That is what he was in high school. He was never a 4 and he hasn't ever played a 4 at UC. Maybe he guarded a 4 at times but he has never posted up on the block. His entire career at UC has been perimeter oriented.

Shaq needs more minutes but he shouldn't be getting more than Rubles. Not even close. If anything take them from Jackson because he doesn't give the team much of anything.

i was saying that Parker has had to bang down low like a 4 in the BEast...i do not expect to see Shaq get more minutes than Rubles, but 2 minutes...Shaq, according to Mick, was going to be a savior to the stagnation this offense suffered for the last couple of years...if Rubles knew what to do when he got in to the lane, i would have less issues with him...he gets there, brings the ball down to his knees, and tries to pass out...it is great that he is 2nd on the team in assists...but is that saying a whole lot with this team...i want to see a Rubles be the one "big" on the floor, and guards and forwards around him...this will force him to work down low, and get to the line where he has done great this year...going in to the year, i was really excited for Rubles...i guess i was expecting too much...but i look at John Williamson and when he came in, he struggled a bit, but continued to improve...just havent seen that from Rubles...i am dying for it to start to click for him soon...dying for this team to start to click

Well I'm glad UC showed life and played hard. Finally a decent win at home, I spend too much on tickets and beer to watch them lose home games lol. Parker continues to piss me off bc I am on a love hate relationship. I love his hustle and hate his ft shooting. What was he, 4-11? I guess it is what it is. Hopefully they build on this bc Fridays game is another must win.

HOW THE HELL DOES PARKER PISS YOU OFF????????????? if anything he is my favorite player on the team........... he is a straight up warrior
