Small sample size is exactly why you can't use the stats. You make it appear you understand stats but it's obvious you don't. You and Skyblade just throw out stats that attempt to support your position. Diarra is anything but an elite post defender. Average at best

I’ve said Vogt needs to play over Diarra. I haven’t really complained of vogt’s defense in a while


I’m just posting the stats while you guys argue about them.

In 60 defenses possessions where Diarra’s man was the shooter, he played absolutely outstanding defense.

That’s the facts.

You can interpret them however you may. I didn’t make them up.


Though if the sample size is too small, synergy doesn’t even provide a grade.

60 possessions isn’t a large sample size but it’s also not terrible.


I mean I’ll take those numbers and think they provide a clearer picture than the one your painting which has zero evidence to support outside of his offensive mistakes sticking out

So it only tells you if his guy is the shooter? It doesn’t take in to account if he is recovering, helping someone he shouldn’t or should be? This is the problem with just reading a stat and not knowing what’s going on with the game. Which isn’t hard to see. Not saying you do this but some do.

i mean 60 attempts is too small of a sample size to give anything but the slightest glimpse.



guys have wild variance on FT's over 60 attempts. nevermind actually being guarded by somebody.


you could look at a 60 ft attempt from jarron this year and show he's a below average FT shooter, and another 60 ft attempt and show he's an elite ft shooter

I’m not familiar enough with synergy, how does it factor in the player that is being guarded? Like a high percentage shooter vs low percentage?

The "absolutely outstanding defense" is anything but fact. Anyone can find stats to support their argument. There are way too many variables in basketball (and all of sports for that matter) to simply use stats to make an argument. Providing "facts" that suggest that Diarra is a top 5% defender in the country is proof that the stats shouldn't be trusted.

Yes, that is a terrible sample size. That's less than one games worth of possessions.

It’s defensive possessions where your man is the ball handler.


Jarron plays 35 min a game and has just 188 defensive possessions
