UCF Round 2

I disagree. We can’t just keep losing to bad teams and expect to get in. At some point we those games are going to hurt us. I think we reached that point.

I think we have reached the point of no return... it’s win the conference tournament or bust at this point

Defense-no effort
Blocking out-no effort
Taking care of the ball-no effort

Why is it that people praise Jarron when he only focuses for 50% of the game, if that much? His number of turn overs is appalling. For every good pass or assist, there are at least the same number of bad passes and turnovers, not to mention how many times he gets beaten off the dribble on defense. He needs to get his head in the game. The turnovers are mental, not physical.

Why does Davenport foul within 30 seconds of entering the game, every time he gets in? You would have thought he would learn by now you can't grab and hold a player who has the ball by now.

Why has the team abandoned Vogt? They rarely even try to feed him the ball now. He can be wide open and Jarron never looks for him.

How many rebounds has Keith gotten lately? He doesn't even seem to try and rebound.

Why do they play down to the level of the competition? I guess they think they can always come back and win, but obviously they can't. Too bad they can't learn that.

At this point, I'd rather see freshman playing who at least try than older players who give a pathetic effort. I would have been booing if I were at the game.

I really feel sorry for the coach. It's obvious he is fed up with some of the personalities on the team. Man, he was steamed at the end of the half. Too bad some of the players aren't coachable. Kiss the NCAA bid goodbye with 4 losses against quadrant 3 teams.

Jarron has been awful. I know he isn’t the only one but the others aren’t all time great players like Jarron. His lazy passes are the worst part. I don’t care about an attempted alley oop. Creative players try things like that. It’s the lobs right to the other team. And he missed about 5 clear box outs. If he’s hurt, that sucks, if he’s not, i don’t know what is going on with him.

i haven't read any posts, so i might copy some stuff.

incredibly disappointing. really can't believe the SR's that have been here for 4 or 5 years are willing to just let their SR years die like that. Where is the heart, where is the pride? Jarron and Scott didn't do a thing the last what, 15-20 minutes of that game? I mean besides let their man drive and score every time.

You know they aren't coached to do hard close outs on guys that can't shoot, but we did it all night long to let them go by us for layups.

Its just baffling watching that team play. Really not much else to say about it.

Yeah, I’m not sure why we face guard guys 35 feet from the basket and let them drive right around us.

Also Jarron has to have figured out by now he can't just jump into defenders and get the call. He tries it repeatedly and its never called.

if he beats his man off the dribble like vs wichita thats one thing, but when he just tries to bully through them they never call it. he wasn't fouled last night, just good straight up defense.

Being "gassed" is a BS excuse, you play 30 games in 4 months.... In the NBA you play 82 games and Jarron wants to be a pro but he is "gassed" after playing 26 games so far? I played baseball for UC and we basically played everyday from February to June and in a series you play 3 games in 3 days. I am not naïve enough to believe that basketball and baseball are close in terms of running and exerting energy because they are not but the travel, school work etc is still the same. The point I am trying to make is they looked un motivated, not tired. If you can't get motivated to play when you only play 30 games and you are on game 26 with your season on the line and you give a lazy ass performance like that at HOME, then that's on you and you have no business getting in the tourney. There was absolutely no fire last night when that is a game we should of won by 15. We let a freshman guard who averages 2 points a game torch us.

It’s ok to be gassed in college. I mean nba players focus 109% of their time to basketball. These dudes finish a road trip then have to wake up and go to class

I agree. They should be able to play 2 games a week. There is just no fire. The only person that is giving it his all is Tre. At some point you have to want to win more than the other team. And we didn’t. It’s sad really

So Jarron, the guy making 0 dollars is taking the blame for this loss

But you guys think the guy making over a million a year shouldn’t take any?

Johnny Dawkins abused John Brannen last night. He exploited his aweful defensive system and made it look pitiful. Does Brannen adjust ? Nope. He’s as stubborn as our last coach

They both sucked. But coaching can’t make you box out. You have to want to do that. How many times did he not box out. How many lazy passes did he throw. Like it or not, Jarron is the guy. It’s ok to say he didn’t play well and hasn’t played well. That doesn’t mean we hate him.

team goes as jarron goes. it was always going to be that way this year. when jarron plays bad, we play bad.

coaches can't force effort. its the one thing they all wish they had control over but simply don't.

the team lost when jarron looked like that last year too. when a team is built around 1 guy, you kinda need that 1 guy.

as brannen said in his postgame, he can't do anything about lack of effort this year, but it won't be the same in the future.

Yep, we said that last year, and before the year started. If you aren’t a blue blood and your best player doesn’t play well, it’s hard to win.

Yes Jarron the guy who could of left last year to make money but chose to come back and "play for 0 dollars"... Brannen cant force you to box out or not make a lazy pass. No one is saying Brannen wasn't out coached because he was but Brannen is not in a position to pull guys for not hustling, we have no depth so it forces Brannens hand when guys don't hustle because he has no choice but to leave them in.

So yes when your leader, your team caption, your superstar, bearcat great, conference player of the year is lazy, tired, hurt, bad game, whatever it was doesn't show up it effects the whole team, like it or not that's the position he is in. Just like a quarterback, all the glory when you win and a lot of the blame when you lose. This was a total team loss last night, its on everyone involved.

Jarron asked for none of those things.

He doesn’t speak to the media . He doesn’t claim to be a leader

He just has to carry this team.

John Brannen’s the leader of this team. John Brannen has a team full of defenders who gets beat off the dribble and yet continues to put them in positions to be beat.

It’s easy to see when Jarron is healthy he is explosive. When he isn’t, he can’t get to the rim

He got to the rim at the end of the game plenty. He just missed. No one is mad at him for missing shots.
Can he box out?
Can he not have 7-8 turnovers?

our defense wasn't beat because of schematics, it was beat because of effort. it doesn't matter what defense you put out there, if the effort sucks, its going to suck.

there is no way Tony Johnson or Brandon Mahan should EVER beat guys on our team off the dribble.

It doesn't matter what Jarron asked for, that is the position he is in, he doesn't need to pound his chest and jump around but the dude is lazy sometimes. He was lazy sometimes with Mick, but Mick knew how to hide Jarron. Mick also recruited Jarron and coached Jarron for 3 years. Brannen has coached Jarron 8 months most of which he was hurt. Its no secret they don't like each other, its really not. But you always make this a Jarron vs Brannen thing.... Literally not one person has said its more Jarron's fault than Brannen's… Its on both of them equally. Its on Brannen for continuously putting the ball in Jarron hands when he isn't finishing late in the game, its on Jarron for not boxing out and throwing lazy passes.

hmm what's a defense that protects against fouls & protects the paint... oh it also happens to be really effective against teams who can't shoot.

Did we play one possession to test it out? Nope.

Did we try something else? NOPE

Did our guys look gassed and we insisted on a pointless press that literally does nothing except wear our own guys out?

To be fair, It’s hard to stay in front of good players. They why “help defense” is a thing, Brannen could have switched it up. Maybe after the 20th uncontested layup they made.
