UCLA is going to have to play our game. I don't think they're going to like that very much. We can't get baited into their game by firing up quick shots. They take shots we are ok with them taking, we limit transition, we use our weapons and work the offense, no reason why we can't win. Gotta bring it the whole 40 minutes with no letdowns bc they can rip off an 8-0 in no time.

UC 81
UCLA 75

Think this is gonna be a pretty good game despite the complete difference in styles. Obviously they are much better at scoring but our defense is on another level than theirs. I think I'm the end it will end up evening it out quite a bit, but our defense should give us the W. I think if UCLA shoots over 40 beyond the arc we lose, anything less we will be heading to the sweet 16. Final score CATS 77-73

I'll be honest, I haven't really seen UCLA play this year. I just hear about how good they are on offense. What's your guys thoughts? Do we have a chance to take them? What's gonna be the best way to stop them?

Yes we have a chance. They really look to 3 guys to score in TJ Leaf, Lonzo Ball and Bryce Alford. Leaf is a near 7 footer who reminds me alot of the current version of Kevin Love's game. He has the capability to score inside but has fallen in love with the 3. Lonzo Ball is the 2nd best PG in the country, good at everything. Alford is a 3 point specialist but can often be very streaky.

In my opinion if we can keep Leaf from having a big game on the perimeter and force him to bang inside, we have a good chance.

I honestly don't think we will have trouble scoring, which is our biggest issue at times. Our 3 pt defense needs to be great tho. Everyone on their team can shoot

If we were to shoot like we did yesterday (for jumpshots) I think we can win. I'm not sure we can do that 2 games in a row. Here's hoping I'm wrong though!

We need Jacob, Jarron and Troy to hit 8 or 9 threes combined. They take enough of em, just gotta hit em against teams like UCLA. If they shoot well from 3 it opens up the paint and UCLA big men can't physically hang with Washington and Clark.

We need to control tempo and force them into a half court game. We don't want to get into a up and down game. If we can keep game in the 60's or 70's we can win. We need to hit the boards and not allow them to leak out on our misses. Would love to create extra possessions by hitting the offensive glass. We also must guard the arc. We can win this game but it must be at our style and pace.

Gotta eliminate extra possessions for UCLA. Take care of the ball and rebound. We don't need to give them extra chances to score.

If we play like we did last night...We can win this game. We were efficient with our possessions.

This is actually a good matchup with Caupain at the point. UCLA is not a complete team. They at times don't make any attempt to guard at all in the half court. They don't double team the low post much either. This will be a major problem against Clark & Washington.

Advantages I see us having
1) We play at slow pace. We are nightmare opponent for them.
2) Extra long TV timeouts slow pace
3) We are much better defensively. Could be difference in the game.
4) Rebounding. We are a much better rebounding team
5) We have tons more experience in tourney.
6) We are better than UCLA at limiting turnovers. They take chances to push the pace. We need to make them pay for their mistakes.

I can't imagine we win if we score in the 60s.

Lavar Ball said earlier in the year that defense is easy and you just have to try when it's crunch time. That's hogwash. We are trained to defend. It doesn't just magically happen for us. I believe we'll have a great scouting report. Discipline could make the difference. It's not as easy as just flipping a switch and suddenly becoming a Top 10 defense. And even if they play a great defensive game against us, I think an overlooked factor is what that does to your stamina.

Great points made. Good defense is a constant for us. The PAC12 by in large is all offense no defense. They haven't had to play defense at all the entire year. You can't just turn it on in one game. You also have to factor in the extra energy they will deplete playing against our defense. This to me will be the key factor in the game. This will expose them on both ends of the court. My hope is they get frustrated and force the pace leading to turnovers and missed shots.

I'm not sure about his status but if Anigbogu is out again (foot) for UCLA, that'll work great in our favor for how we match up in the post.
