I'll be there with my better half, three sons and grandson. Expecting a Bearcat victory 72-65. Payback's a bitch!
Go Bearcats! Happy Holidays to all!

Wow that sounds like a great time! Enjoy the game! Bring home a winner!

I just have a feeling that this is the game where our offense truly starts to click. We need to get Cane going earlier and JC needs shots to fall (obviously)... but after last years exit, this is one that these guys want to win bad. Agree that Kyle needs to keep his head up in the post cause he will get doubled and he needs to find shooters on the perimeter.

UC 71
UCLA 68

One thing we never talk about with Broome is the defensive side of the ball. his 3.8 steal % (its early so it could still go way down) is the 2nd best steal % since mick has been here. Cash Wright had the best season in 2012 at 4.0%.

actually looking over our steal numbers, i would love to see the stats on UC tracking our deflections. im guessing clark, evans, and broome is really high. washington and jenifer really low. moore, williams, and scott i bet are decent considering minutes played. check out the team steals.

Clark - 14

Broome - 14

Evans - 10

Cumberland - 7

Moore - 7

Scott - 7

Williams - 6

Brooks - 6

Jenifer - 3

Washington - 2

We need this win.

Lunardi puts us as a 7 seed right now.

Another win this week puts us back in the top 20 and back in good position for better seeding.

SOS will probably jump up to 250 after the UCLA.

He definitely has a knack for picking off passes. Those kind of steals lead to very easy fast break points. Which is why we need to keep an eye on our own passes out on the perimeter. Getting those lazy passes picked off is basically like giving the other team 2 points.

It's one thing to get picked off trying to feed the paint but we can't throw the ball to the other team while they are already running toward the other bucket. Keith has done this a couple of times recently. Not trying to pick on him...I am sure there are others. Cane seemed to learn that lesson early on in the year.

It's rare to see Jenifer make a lazy pass out there. You have to put some zip on those passes. Cumberland puts some good zip on his passes most of the time.

Last chance at a column 1 win in the OOC. I would say that is very important. In this context...yes I think we need this win too! I think Cronin is well aware of it. They also bounced us from the tourney last year so that should give us a little more motivation...not that we should need it.

Lock down the D...we are due for a hot shooting night. I would even settle for an average shooting night with some great D.

Really excited for this game. I know Florida and X were rated higher in the polls but I think UCLA in Westwood will be our biggest challenge. Travel and distractions are everywhere. Hope the Cats go in with their heads on straight and come away with a win.

Disagree, X was a much tougher test IMO.

Lol. When he had us as a 3/4 whatever it was you told me those didn't matter, but now that we are a 7... lol

I think there is only about a 2-3 inch height difference between Cane and Justin but I wonder what the wingspan difference is? Justin seems to have kind of short stubby arms and Cane seems to have longer arms. I would guess there could be almost 6" difference in reach. Cane also seems to have a little better instinct. 14-3 is a big difference in steals.

It's time to stop playing senior favorite or whatever is going on with the jenifer/broome situation. Idc of broome comes off the bench, I'd prefer him as a starter, but no matter what he has got to start getting more minutes. Whether getting them from jenifer or at the wing. I'm not as worried about Cumberland, idk why a guy can't just have a bad week or two. All this talk about him regressing and not being a good shooter or the player we thought he would be. We are 10 games in, and have only played 3 real teams. Give it some time before we start going in on the guy. Loved to see Washington feeling comfortable against Miss ST. he has got to play with the same confidence Saturday. And if Clark could get his offensive game going we might just be unstoppable. He's doing everything else just not hitting the shots. I still think we are just felling, this team will come into its own. Beating UCLA on the road would be a great win to get that ball rolling.

starter or not is w/e, but when you dont get him into the game until 14 minutes left in the half you greatly reduce the number of minutes possible for him to play, as i think jacob pointed out the other day.

20 minutes for broome not gonna cut it for us. but just the way mick talks about them in his interviews, i just dont see it changing this season. its like he views them as equals.

I can give you one clear cut reason to start the better player. We have seen this discussion with Cumberland and KJ as well as Cobb and KJ.

If you keep your better player on the bench for the 1st 5 minutes of each half...the total amount of minutes he can even achieve is 30. You can't put him in for 35 minutes even if you wanted to at that point. I would MUCH rather have the option of getting my better player a chance at all 40 minutes (if they are just tearing it up) than I would the lesser player. It's not like we haven't seen guys like Caupain or Evans getting to 40 minutes before.

You can always pull him if he's making a mess of things...but you can't get back the first 5 minutes of each half you gave to your 2nd best option.

mick has made it harder on clark. he's forcing it to him when he tells teams he's gonna force it to him and teams are more than prepared for it.

its not always the easiest to even pass it out when as soon as you catch it 2 guys are instantly on you. thats why he's had 8 turnovers the past 3 games after 4 in the previous 7 games.

I think the other big thing here is that Cronin can get Jenifer plenty of minutes if he wants to even if doesn't start at PG. He's going to get the backup PG minutes but you can also give him back up wing minutes by moving Cane over. We have already seen Jenifer and Broome on the court together in place of Moore or Williams. You can still get him in the game for 20 minutes even if Cane gets 30...if you choose.

Like you, I have no issue with Broome coming off the bench. I suspect what has led to that would be his 22 turnovers. I also like him at the wing.

While it is obvious that Cumberland has hit a rough patch in his development it is imperative in the success of this team for him to get it together. Mick mentioned in his Presser that he felt Cumberland would turn it around. Said it was tough for young players to adjust to more minutes being played.

Clark has been a monster but again would like to see him a bit more consistent putting the ball in the basket. Everything else he does is top notch.

Washington had a good game against MSU because they didn't double him and let him shoot over his dominant shoulder. Have no idea what scouting report Howland was reading. For Washington to be effective he can not continue to force his shot against double teams but MUST look for open man. If he fails to do this he is almost useless on the court.

Evans is trying to become the alpha dog. Had a very good all around game against MSU but must do that every night. If he is going to be the go to guy in late close game situations he has to get to the foul line more often. Of course it would help if Officials didn't miss obvious fouls like they did in the Florida game.

Jenifer must continue to take care of the ball and hit a occasional shot. It is important he do well because it frees up Broome to play the wing when needed. At this time against better competition Moore and Williams haven't shown they are up to the task. Both have found the going a bit tougher since the X game.

Brooks and Scott must be steady opportunistic players that take care of the ball and do all the little things. Play defense and board and hit some garbage shots when given the opportunity.

It made me laugh but the other day I said I wanted to start games with ball screens for Broome...well Jenifer started and we actually did that early and Jenifer got to the hoop...but it got swatted. Something tells me Broome would've finished.
