UC has zero available scholarships.

I know, but there are ways around it. Maybe we have one player who gets good grades and could get money that way, somebody would be willing to take a half scholarship, somebody else leaves, etc. It know that it is not likely to happen and more of a dream, but I just like to throw dreams out there sometimes......

Problem is your dreams aren't based on any sort of reality. Basketball players can't take half scholarships. You can't just get good grades and switch to an academic scholarship. This stuff gets stated over and over on here.

Basketball players can take half scholarships, look at St. John's and all of their teams in recent years. As far as academics go, there are tons of scholarships out there, maybe there is an incoming freshman who could qualify for one but took a basketball scholarship instead.

No, they can't. You are wrong.

There are unique situations which can allow you to have more players than scholarships (like someone being a walkon) but there are a lot of rules in place for them and they are typically pretty complicated. However, there are no partial scholarships in mens basketball. That is a fact. You also can't just get an academic scholarship by getting good grades. Even if you could, it would still count against the limit.

Someone on UC could decide to pay their own way next year and that would free up a scholly. But it isn't going to happen.

Or people playing more than one sport is another good example. Maybe somebody could do something like track (just a random example, I know UC ditched track) and walk-on in basketball? I know that is a unique situation for sure......

Not all players were on scholarship. I counted at least 3 walk-ons. Also not sure Orlando Sanchez counted against the limit because he was ineligible.

Also not sure about Amir Garrett since he is a professional baseball player with the Reds.

17 total players were listed, so even with 3 walk-ons, there must be some loophole to allow them to have 14 players........
