WOW

15 new schollies per year for three years is a killer.

Regardless of how much Pete Carroll knew about what was going on while he was there, he was at least intelligent enough to realize a perfect storm was brewing and it was time to leave to give the NFL another try. Now unlike Calipari, I like Carroll, so I hope he was at least unaware of the degree to which the transgressions were ocurring. USC is going to get pushed to the back burner for the next decade, imo, if conference realignment ends up the way it's looking it will and half the Big12 merges with the Pac-10 as has already started. They cannot compete at the top level over the next 4-5 years with the penalties enforced on them and it will take them another half decade to fight and claw back to anything near what they had from 2000-2010 with Texas and a continually growing Oregon ruling the Pac-16 or whatever it will be called.

Maybe Vidal has a few boys who are looking to transfer. I believe the rule is they do not have to sit out a year if the school goes on probation. Hopeful Hazelton will put in a good word for the Cats.

Maybe but since it is a 2 year post season ban I believe only Juniors and Seniors would be eligible for the waiver.

USC is saying they will not release the kids from their LOI. Which, of course, they will need everyone as things get real interesting two to three years from now. They are going to need bodies as people get hurt.

It's pretty nice. I used to live in Socal. Always rooted for UCLA and UC.

Many years UCLA was better than USC. Does a weakened USC bring UCLA back into power? Which west coast team benefits from USC's sanctions (other than Texas potentially)?

I think UCLA and Cal may benefit the most. Oregon could pick up a few more recruits from Southern Cal too.

Apparently, other schools don't need to get permission from USC if the 'student-athlete' has eligibility that will expire during the entire school's postseason ban.

The Pac10 is gonna see this as opportunity to knock USC down a peg. Look for UW and UCLA to swoop in.

It gets worse.

1) Supposedly, if USC does appeal with 'vigor', the NCAA has let it be known that the Joe McKnight case can easily be investigated. Like I said before, if I was USC, I would show more contrition (and less ass).

2) The pipes in their locker room burst (just like their bubble).

in another bit of news, the Pac-10 WILL NOT lift the transfer rule for juniors and seniors, so if they want to play immediately they will have to transfer to a school outside the Pac-10.

(Bearcat thinks the NCAA could override that conference rule....interesting to see what happens)

@BFeldmanESPN Spoke to an SEC coach (re:USC): An SEC rule prevents teams from taking transfers w only 1 yr of eligblty remaining unless they've graduated. 20 minutes ago

Good. Screw the SEC.
